Yep, same...I'm really having to stop myself from buying the digital copy right now due to my impatience, to forego the immediate want, and to get the physical copy. It's okay, I can wait for the physical to ship, it'll be worth it in the end

Looks amazing! Been looking for something just like this. Honestly, 15 hrs of story is about perfect. I have a hard time with the 60+ hr games sometimes.

Hey 11 bit studios, while you are here: Mark criticizes the lack of an endless mode. Is this a thing you would like to implement in the next few months or are you happy with the game as it is right now?
I personally would love an alternative to the endgame of Diablo 3, which is fantastic for a few minutes (or hours for that matter) of fun on the Switch. Children of Morta seems like a game that would really benefit from that as well and that I would then buy in an instant!

Bought this two days ago on sale on Switch. IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL! It plays great in handheld, but man, the colors pop so well on a TV, it's crazy!

I put 40hrs in this game and loved every second, if you like Diablo you will love this and the storyline is good as well...don't let the pixel art graphics turn you off from this it more than makes up for it with its other features...GOD BLESS
What was the 40 hours spent on? I've seen reviews say this is a 14 hour game

The archer is the best character, level her up and she can take out a whole screen of enemies in no time. GOD bless.

100% agree with these sentiments! We gave it our Golden Heart and for good reason. It is a brilliant game and it is great to see the good review pouring in for the Switch version!

What I like most about this game apart from the presentation is that theres no inventory management or loot clutter like Diablo, to interrupt the gameplay.
I tried this out based mostly on your review and immediately put finishing Jedi Fallen Order on the back burner until I completed the Children Of Morta campaign... twice. There are surely things to nitpick (some spelling and grammar errors, voiceover doesn't match the onscreen text, lack of map and object detail, smallish/repetitive maps, some clipping bugs I ran across with the ninja guy, etc.) but as the review noted it's not a bad thing to leave you wanting more and there is a lot of potential in this for patches, DLC, and sequels. Super addictive and absolutely great. ---and yeah, the archer/bard daughter is the best character :-)

I still haven't even taken my Astral Chain or Dragon Quest out of the plastic wrapping and this has to go and drop. Great...

Hi I know this is 7 months later but as someone who is hitting 30 hours in dragon quest I really hope you’ve been able to play it. One of the best games I have ever played in my life
I been taking the time to jump in and out and you're right. It's absolutely brilliant. The story just gets so deep the world is beautiful and the there's just Soo much to do. I love it. It's a great game! Thanks for replying brother
Definitely in for this. I'm going through a bit of 'Open World Fatigue', only broken by Breath Of The Wild and RDR2. Smaller games like this are why I bought a Switch.

Bought over the weekend with the discount in the eshop. Love, love, love the game. Hate, hate, hate the sound bug. Audio stops in combat then picks up while in the hub and you have to restart the game. It has done this to me 5 or 6 times in just one day.
The narration and art style brings me back to Bastion and Transistor. Excellent review.

THIS GAME LOOKS AMAZING!! I love the art style it reminds me of Moonlighter and that Rustic Narrator is bringing me back to Bastion! (Which I still need to beat btw lol) I like that This game forces you to use the other members as you play with that fatigue system. So smart! like you don't just pick one, beat the game then pick another, and replay. Having the freedom to cycle through the family as you progress keeps the game play from feeling stagnant. Totally Adding this to my list!

I was torn between Green hell and Children of Morta. Both are on sale. After watching this, decided to purchase COM since it allows 2 players so that my son or daughter can also play.. gonna go play this with my son in a little while. :)

I bought this game on PC, the didactic intro hadn't hooked on me. After a few days, I decided to put more time in it a'd I must say it was a pleasant surprise.
If you don't have it, I suggest you give it a try and do few runs, you'll understand the potential, in gameplay but also in characters and their progress even more.
Suuuuch a good game.
I've been playing Moon Hunters and loved that game and wanted to play more action pixel games like it and ended up finding this game. So far, I'm hooked.

The voice acting really stands out in this, although the graphics are simple they are detailed enough with wonderful animations, akin to Hyper light drifter.

it's s amazing just too short and you can finish the game at level 15 which is well short of your characters max level at 30.
Needs WAY more areas - wonderful game but frustratingly short

I've just played the demo and I felt just like I did back when I played the first Diablo game back in 1999. I'm not a big fan of roguelikes, but it feels like it belongs here - after all, the first Diablo game was inspired by this genre. Definitely getting it now, it's on sale for like 5 USD and has local coop which I absolutely love - totally a steal

It's def my GOTY for indies - an amazing game that shows that you can make a roguelike that's not the same annoying grind. This and MO: Astray are my two fave indies of the year. That's also coming to the Switch next year - amazing puzzler platformer combining Limbo/Inside with Ori and more.

This game is so cheap at the moment, it's a no brainer. I love the art style.
The dev has a 2020 roadmap with lots of extra content to come, including NG+, endless mode, and more. So yeah, something to look forward to. Excellent game, if a bit grindy.
How much of the road map have they been able to fulfill?

Literally just finished this. It is brilliant and truly endearing. One thing I came here to point out though and am wondering if anyone got this bug in which the sound effects would 'bottle neck' and stutter as they came through in a queue. The music would stop and I had two crashes due to it. Closing the game and restarting would sort it out.
I have just experienced this bug!
It crashed in this way, after a boss fight, and all progress in that run was lost.
Just started this today.. not a massive fan of rougelikes.. but the story and atmosphere.. amazing!

Anybody else experiencing lags when using the Guardian's rage abilities? Part of the texture goes red for me. And when I beat the game there was no image, only narrator and text, for the last cutscene. It was a shame. But overall a great game.
Imagine a game where its only negative is that we want more from everything 🙂
Which one do you think more worth the penny, Children of Morta or Toechlight II? They literally have the same gameplay and both has their own uniqueness

Mark and Glen, I need your help. I picked this game up on sale and it's beautiful. I love it. I'd love to play with my wife but she won't play video games with me because they stress her out sooooo much. How can I railroad her into picking up the controller for some casual gaming? Should there be a reward, such as ice cream or a kitten? I can't even get her to play Super Monkey Ball with me. What am do?? :(
Haha, to be fair Super Monkey Ball is very stressful! Maybe play a game that she can watch and give you advice about. That's what I do with my missus. Otherwise, ice cream and kittens might be worth trying! Glen
I struggled really hard to be interested when playing the first character.... his sword seems coded as part of his animation as opposed to like its own object (so it seems); ultimately it doesnt knock enemies away and they just trade with you cause youre recovering frames. The bow girl is my first saving grace but sometimes it prioritize your movement joystick over the other idk why causing snapback. I kinda find it weird that it has voice acting on pixel art..... and there is prolly too many enemies as opposed to better design. Back to the pixel art... they put a lot of effort into but the colors might be slightly off or maybe they should have used bold outlines because it feels like a lot of stuff blends in messy because they share obvious 'pixels'. I'm starting to enjoy it more as it goes forth but it doesnt feel fleshed out like Hades or Dreamscaper (and insanely overly done great controls, every weapon has different animations and knockback). Anyways if it doesnt bother you visually I do bring up slightly clunky controls... maybe some people wont notice but I noticed it in 1 minute. I dont mind hard but I dislike unfair.
I guess this shouldnt be taken as an overall bad score I just wanted to point these things out as all I saw in multiple pages was nothing but praise.
