This song is a Kiwi and Aussie Anthem ❤The Hunter boys are my mums first cousins ❤Rest in Peace Marc🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️love from the Turners and Mckechnies in New Zealand
Asia, BJ… Dragon were formed by the Hunter brothers, Marc & Todd, who hail from New Zealand, but sadly, Marc is no longer with us. They were arguably one of the best groups on the Aussie & Kiwi charts throughout the 80’s & 90’s. They had so many hits & were great to see live in concert & 1 of their best ever hits was a song called “April sun in Cuba”. Another nostalgia trip oh so well received by this little “Aussie member of the Fam” 🇦🇺👍😁🇦🇺. Thanks so much 👏👏👏
@@sharilynbratton6476 … No problem. I’m only a few years younger than you (54) & Dragon were a “mainstay” on the charts through that time period. We had a plethora of awesome groups to see live here like Midnight Oil, Rose Tattoo, The Radiators, The Choirboys, Noiseworks, The Black Sorrows & The Angels, to name just a few. The Angels had a particular song called “Am I ever gonna see your face again?” that WARRANTED a particular response from the crowds… A nasty, 6 word response that the band just loved the fans doing 🤘😜. If you watch the live versions of the Angels singing that song, they cut the music at the moment the lead singer, Doc Neeson, would ask the question & you hear the crowd’s response so clearly 😆😆😆
@@sharilynbratton6476 … Check out Dragon’s back catalogue & you’ll see why they were so popular here at the time. It may take a little while, but I’m sure you’ll love them.
@@eviekelpie1 … There’s no doubt about that but once the 80’s kicked in & the local music scene exploded in popularity & the choice of bands & artists to see went through the roof, that’s when their popularity in Australia REALLY kicked in. We were spoiled for choice 👍😎. April Sun in Cuba was their first song that really got me “hooked” as a fan & once I started listening to more of their music, Dragon quickly became 1 of my favourite groups of all, among many others ✌️😁
An institution in New Zealand and Australia! You have to hear April Sun in Cuba but they had a host of great songs in their first incarnation: This Time, Are You Old Enough (alarming title though it may be these days), Sunshine, followed by another round of great songs in their 2nd incarnation (from which this track, a classic by the way, came). From this era Cry, Magic, Speak No Evil. They were a great band and are still touring although, obviously, with a very different line-up. Still a great show though!
dragon is a kiwi group that made it big in aus as well as nz - you need to watch the video that goes with this song - marc hunter is the reason why dragon were so big - he was definately up there with the likes of michael hutchenson when it came to lead singer charisma
Asia & BJ, its great to see you tapping into some of the excellent talent out of Australia and New Zealand. One song I highly recommend is Stone Cold from Jimmy Barnes which has a strong bluesy vibe and wicked guitar solo from Joe Bonamassa. This song may not get that famed BJ jive going but I guarantee you will be highly impressed with this song by one of Australias best. Keep up the great work on the channel guys 🙃
Every time I say it....the world missed out on some of the best music of the 70s and 80s back when the music industry only promoted British and US bands. NZ and Aus were having a blast down here!
Dragon are a New Zealand rock band which was formed in Auckland in January 1972, and, from 1975, based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. "April Sun In Cuba", "I'm Sill In Love With You" & "Are You Old Enough" are iconic anthems down under.
Hey Asia and BJ. Sorry Asia for making you say Dragon were from Australia when I requested this. Had a brain fog moment 😂 and being a kiwi, I messed up 😂. They are definately a New Zealand group, however they did spend their last years based in Sydney Australia. Thanks for the great reaction. R.I.P to lead singer Marc Hunter. Much ❤
I’m from Australia & remember Dragon very, very well & you’ll no doubt know of another group that many people mix up the Kiwi/Aussie origin query in Split Enz & or Crowded House, formed by the Finn brothers, Tim & Neil Finn. Don’t worry about the brain fog moment as we all have them from time to time ✌️😁✌️
@@gerardroll6468 Yes Gerard Split Enz and Crowded House were great groups. I lived in Te Awamutu in New Zealand where Neil and Tim are from. Saw them a few times 😂and the local Museum has an area dedicated to Split Enz. Brain fog though 😂
@@forevalearning … It’s all good mate. I still have fond memories of Crowded House’s last concert at the Sydney Opera House. All the best my friend from “across the ditch” ☝️😁👍
So cool you've reacted to this group I grew up with here in Australia. They stem from New Zealand but live here. They were very successful and popular with many hits. Sadly, lead singer Marc Hunter died in 1998, aged only 44 from throat cancer. His brother Todd is also in the band. Try their 70s hits ..This Time and April sun in Cuba
Oh so many memories of Melbourne Australia with my bestie in the 80’s dancing at clubs. Young, single and no kids, was a great time to be alive!! Love this song!!!!
Yeah ...relationship...thats what i thought as well. Btw. They are from New Zealand but back in the 70's & 80's we stole their good bands and call them ours. Not sure why but it happened.

This is a new one on me, never heard of them before and I am 60! Thanks, enjoyed that and learning of a band I never heard before.

This song always pops off in the pubs and rugby crowds in New Zealand. Absolute classic
One of my favourite Kiwi bands.Try their song Are You Old Enough from 1978.
Your going to love diving down this rabbit hole guys , so many hits . ( april sun in cuba ) next :)

Dragon recorded a song called "April Sun in Cuba"
Oh so many memories of Melbourne Australia with my bestie in the 80’s dancing at clubs. Young, single and no kids, was a great time to be alive!! Love this song!!!!
Song seems be metaphoric of a long term relationship that is ending.
something else from down under early 80's The Church > Almost With You
Dragons other songs: 1 speak no evil
2 dreams of ordinary men
3 right direction
4magic
5 are you old enough
6 young years
Are you old enough is a gem
Shout out to Mikey G! lol. Never heard of this band. Interesting song.
I think it's about a relationship and they haven't been getting along and he's saying "don't step out on me or we'll always regret it."
Must react to, Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham, When something is wrong with my baby. You'll be blown away. Live or official video a must
Level 42 is a great band to check out . "Something about you "
This song is a hidden gem
You guys have to check out Summer and Young Years Dragon one of the best bands ever
One of my All Time Favourites.
Me and my Wife loved the Unplugged Version. Now, she’s heard it from Heaven. Great Song.
Yeah ...relationship...thats what i thought as well. Btw. They are from New Zealand but back in the 70's & 80's we stole their good bands and call them ours. Not sure why but it happened.
check out CRY or BODY AND THE BEAT both classics
Nice song , i love the "80s"😎👍
Wow! This song is really obscure. I thought i was the only one that even knew or remembered it. 1983 or 84
It's not obscure in New Zealand, and presumably Australia.
You have to react to 'young years' by them😁
Love it
It's about Heroin
I never heard of the group or the song.
as NZ as Chinese gooseberries
👍
April sun in cuba- next song by Dragon
