Blood Ravens are most likely a Thousand Sons (Primarch: Magnus the Red) successor chapter. Their chapter motto being "Knowlegde is power", their heavy use of psychers, similar pre-heresy armor design and bird symbolism all point to it.
I thought so too, but then I heard someone make an argument for why the Blood Ravens are actually descended from Loyalist Word Bearers and I've just subscribed to that notion ever since.
My brother handed me the rabbit hole, I dipped my toes into it while this video and TTS snuck up behind me and worked together to piledrive me into it.
Seeing the Orks reminded me of a song i heard once it went something like: Oi see boyz of green, red wartrukks too. 'Umies go 'boom' for me an 'you. An' I fink to myself: "What a wonderful Waaagh!" Oi See marines of blue an' bikes of white. Those beaki boyz they sure know 'ow to fight. An i fink to myself: "What a wonderful Waaagh!" Our stromboyz and deffkoptas, so orky in da sky. Blast away da faces of humies going by. Oi see gits dyin' and sayin: "wot do we do?" And then theys all sayin: "oh, im froo" I hear Panzees cry, I watch em explode. They'll fight no more ' cuz they Wuz to slow. Then i fink to myself: "wot a wonderful Waaagh!" Yes 'i think to myself: "wot a wonderful Waaagh!"
'In the warp a giant stirred; an image flickered through a mind larger than a nebula. The sleep of Gork was troubled. In his dreams he wore a metal body and led his children to victory. The dream lasted a brief instant of long eternity, something about it caused Gork to smile but not to rouse. In the warp Mork too was disturbed. He dreamed of war spreading like a green stain across the galaxy. He saw billions of his children following giant warmachines built in his crude image on a great crusade. He found the dream good. And slowly his vast mind moved towards wakefulness. Gork and Mork stirred. Their dreams reached out and touched the dreams of their people. A billion Orks turned in their sleep; suddenly, inexplicably infected by scenes of slaughter and reaving, plunder and the taking of worlds. When they awoke they looked on their surroundings and found them dull. Gork struggled towards awareness. After centuries of dormancy it was a long process. He sensed other Powers in the warp trying to interfere. He blocked a subtle tendril from Slaanesh, ignored a baleful warning from the Emperor, discounted the triumphant cry of Khorne. He reached out with his millennia-old mind and gathered the strength of his people. Soon he would be awake and active. A body of steel had been prepared for him. A time of blood and iron was approaching. As Mork gathered strength many a Warboss found himself afflicted with thoughts of power. Ancient ambitions were re-kindled. Long vanished thoughts of conquest stirred in the recesses of slow minds. They planned raids on nearby Humans and toyed with thoughts of alliances with old rivals. Not even great soul-searching could explain why this was so. The Ancient Powers knew what was happening, though. The Waa-Ork was coming. Gork and Mork stirred and a wave of fear passed through the warp. Suicide and incidence of violent crime climbed steeply. On Icolbar an Astropath screamed and threw himself from the balcony of a starscraper apartment, yelling that his people were doomed. On the craft-world Hope of Other Days, an Eldar philosopher stopped listening to the atonal music of his water-chimes and began composing his death-haiku, feeling his life had been justified. On distant Earth, a living corpse in a golden throne opened eyes that held fear for the first time in centuries. Gork felt his attention being tugged towards one tiny world on the edge of Orkdom. A strange attraction drew him to it. He leaned down from warpspace and looked upon it. His breath brought storms in the Ash Desert. His gaze caused machines to break down. His lightest tread brought earthquakes. Seeing the disruption he was causing among his people he withdrew. He knew the time was not yet right for his return. He withdrew but he left a message. Mork moved on the face of the warp, brushing aside Daemons and ignoring ancient barriers set by long dead Gods. He moved from world to world and placed in the heart of every Ork the desire to be restless, to move, to follow the siren call of adventure when it came. He sensed other Powers subtly striving to oppose him and laughed as their attempts to restrain his crude, irresistible purpose. The Emperor knew that he must save his people. If Gork and Mork unleashed their hordes then any unprepared worlds would be swept aside by a green tide of death The Emperor bent his thoughts to the task. Across Human space, within the range of the Astronomicon, Imperial Tarot began to foretell disaster. Commanders consulting them found all the signs of impending catastrophe on a cosmic scale. In the Segmentum Obscura, Battlefleets were recalled and prepared for war. On the homeworlds of the Adeptus Astartes, Space Marines reached for their weapons, knowing their time of destiny was near. On the edges of the Eye Of Terror, the Orders of the Adeptus Titanicus roused their ancient war-machines. Having surveyed his Empire and seen it was ready the dying immortal within the Golden Throne prepared himself for the conflict to come. Gork and Mork knew that they were ready. Their people were agitated and prepared for battle The Emperor, their chosen enemy, had deployed his forces. The first skirmishes had been fought, now war was about to be joined. Beyond them they sensed the Chaos Powers watching, waiting to see what advantage the God-brothers' actions might bring them. In the darkest pits of creation twisted creatures prepared to follow the Orks' advance. Gork and Mork did not care. They knew they were strong enough to resist Chaos. The time was right. The time was now. It was time for Gork and Mork to have some fun. In the Warp Gork and Mork waited, well pleased. Across the face of a million worlds their children were on the move, a green tide that would topple empires and re-shape the Universe. The Waa-Ork was on the move.' I will post this on all of your videos until you watch Baldemort's: The Secret History of the Orks.
Two extra bits of information for Lord Nuxalore, the Lascannon’s primary use is as an anti-tank weapon. The high energy to a small area causes a neat hole and fiery spalling on the inside. And the fire shotgun that is referenced is the Meltagun, which creates a cone of super heated gases. It is used to put huge holes in blast doors and bunkers.
Speaking of weapon diversity, there’s actually a gun called the Retcon gun which literally Retcons anyone hit with it out of existence. Like even Space Marines with their perfect memory will only hardly remember that there was indeed someone there but they won’t remember anything specific about them apart from the fact that they were an enemy.
One of their main leaders (Aun'va) was killed by a Cuelexus assassin and replaced by an ai copy of him. They just lie and say he survived as to not ruin morale. Aun'va is also a huge prick.
Russian Badger is popular among 40k fans because even though he's reviewing a "Game" he SOMEHOW manages to pack more lore into his videos than some dedicated lore-smiths. And this never stops being funny, cause for someone who knows almost nothing about the verse, he still nails it perfectly.
My favorite Warhammer thing ever was this guy's dnd game called the all guardsmen party. It's about a group of guardsmen that get drafted by the inquisition.
This is why reading wiki entries or watching lore discussions or reading a novel aren't the real experience of learning the lore. The lore is in those side mentions and little anecdotes that the audience pieces together themselves. It's a bit like liking the lore in Dark Souls. It's not structured in the "Here's the direct and clear main story and maybe I'll throw in some side things" way that's common elsewhere. It's a collection of side things with a unifying thematic core coexisting in the most awesome form it can.
I know Badger explain the game but he never finished it unless people want to play for themselves. So I recommend watching Zanny’s gameplay, he finished the game.
@Nuxanor - I think it would be great to see the first impressions / review of Space Marine made by TotalBiscuit. He's another of the major gaming content creators in a line of other major content creators who were vocally enthusiastic about 40k years before it reached this level of mainstream. The talking about why the gunplay in the game immediately felt _right,_ because they don't shoot solid slugs, and why that added so much to the game is a great ad-hoc merging of lore and gamefeel. Arch (formerly ArchWarhammer) was probably the first major 40k youtuber, and the first lore discussion specialist channel I know of, channels that published or transcribed slenderman horror stories into youtube audiobook form notwithstanding. If memory serves, his first videos are about "Why Is There Melee In 40k?", and he explains things fantastically well. After that, you can poke into his stories (check out "Tuska, Daemon Killa") and faction lore videos (literally any of them, they're all great), his videos discussing other stuff, like how the Emperor has changed in 40k and The Logistics Of A Chaos Uprising. His video on the Tau was also good, but came out when more people were starting to become aware of real life events that tended to bring mysterious punishments and "accidents" to channels or videos that commented on things. He goes out of his way to emphasize that he was talking specifically about the Tau, though some people at the time took it the wrong way. Remember, the lore was given and learned in the rule books and the monthly magazine before it was being told in books. It's form was in short stories, poetry, descriptions of archaeological artefacts, descriptions of the ecology and life cycle of the orkid super organism in the old ork codex, and unit descriptions. The lore is built of cool moments that are logically supported. TL:DR The most recommended to watch: -TotalBiscuit's content on Space Marine from closer to when it came out. -Arch -- Why Is There Melee In 40k? -- Stories (40k Lore, Tuska Daemon-Killa!) -- Lore (Konrad Kurze The Night Haunter) -- "The God Emperor Has Changed A LOT In The Horus Heresy, So Let's Talk About His Lore"
That's one Badger video down. Now, Nux has gotta react to the rest of them. And if he wants to be a part of Badger's next video, he should reach out to HeavenlyFather.
My recommendation theres this one channel I watch called Roanoke Gaming and he did a breakdown of the genetic modifications of the astartes (space marines)
Any see´s the fact, that stoping the orcs from stealing tech with blood Ravens is like, letting 2 burglars get into your house and the stronger one gets all the loot? Ironic this much?!?!
I love that Nux is watching a Badger video, especially a Warhammer one. He made two other videos for Warhammer Space Hulk: Deathwing and Total War Warhammer 2 too. Hopefully he’ll make another one for the Space Marine sequel that’s supposed to be released this September.
"All races are equal. Equally edible." -A lot of things honestly, from deamons to tyranids, and of course The Flood, part of the Halo lore which Nux should definitely do!
7:15 Someone has to say it so let it be me then. RussianBadger refers to a chapter called "Blood Ravens". They have been created for RTS game series "Dawn of War" (As far as I know, Games Workshop wasn't sure in success of "Dawn of War" because at that moment they gave permission to use W40k IP in so many games and a few of them were actually acclaimed successful so they had a reason to be skeptical, so they agreed to give Relic Entertainment rights to make a game in W40k IP but they didn't give permission to use any well-known chapter for Dawn of War so Relic made a custom one). And an interesting fact for you, Blood Ravens don't know from which Primarch they have been created so they seek truth about their history. There are a few suggestions about their origin, the most convincing in my opinion is they are a part of Thousand sons. Well, they have more librarians than most of chapters have, their motto is, and I quote, "Knowledge is power, hide it well", they are obsessed with relics and seeking truth (and actually, that reminds me, in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, one of the addons to the original game, Blood Ravens have found an old library that have had some records about Blood Ravens's origin. Captain Davian Thule, the one who led Blood Ravens in Kronus planet, have discovered them. After reading those records he have ordered to destroy all of them. Suspicious). Most of the quotes in this video is from Dawn of War games, they are quite good, one of the best in Warhammer 40000 setting.
Nux, you REALLY need to watch more of Badger's vids. Badger is an absolute unit of a content creator. Absolutely wholesome funny Gigachad who makes 30 minute long UA-cam poops lmao 😂
Russian Badgers editing style is absolutely awesome he has a mocap suit that he does a lot of stuff that he uses in videos and his videos are absolutely f****** hilarious
The Blood Ravens are cleptomaniacs meme comes from Dawn of War 2 where a lot of, if not most of, the gear you get has a little description like "This bolter was gifted to the Blood Ravens by the Imperial Fists" or "This jump pack was graciously given to the Blood Ravens from the Blood Angels" or whatever so fans started joking that the "gifts" were actually nicked from the other chapters and the Blood Ravens just can't keep their fingers in check. And since they're a "Blood Ravens" chapter and magpies are corvids known for stealing shiny things and also British swears are funny, the Blood Ravens are sometimes jokingly referred to as the Bloody Magpies.
Cinematics reactions when? Horus Heresy, 9 + 10 edition trailer + armoring ritual of a space marine + death watch + A TON of fan animations stuff and video games trailers are awesome. Shit, even Parian Nexus on their God Emperor forsaken warhammer plus was very cool.
"My armor is contempt. My shield is disgust. My sword is hatred. And in the Emperor's name let none survive!" is an actual lore quote. In Boltgun retro doom style shooter game your armor is named CONTEMPT. The Space Marine 2 is going to be SO good, we have waited for 10 years. Release is planned on this September.
This is one of my favorite shooters of all time. No other game has quite captured the feeling of being a space Marine as well as this one did. The sound design alone is 😘👌 the stomping when you sprint, the thud of bolter rounds, the screams of your enemies. Music to my ears The only thing missing is your overshield being called Contempt
The Codex Astartes, aka Space Art of War, is written by the Primarch of the Ultramarines, Roberto Gump. The problem with the Codex is how "religiously" the Ultramarines follow that book, even though it's meant to take as a suggestion....sometimes to the point of getting executed because you slightly deviated from it. Richard Grumblemumble had to revise and add in "SONS, IT'S OK TO DEVIATE AND USE TACTICS!! YOU DON'T NEED TO FOLLOW THE BOOK." Boltgun is a sequel to this game, and then Space Marine 2.
Hey nux my favorite piece of lore is how the thunder hammer is a anti tank weapon in one of the books a night lord was tagged by one and was like that hurt a lot and his friend said thank chaos it was a glancing blow
Ah nux is like me corrupting the imperium from the inside on the name of Tzeentch, the lord of change is the question and the answer is yes then what is an answer anyways but another question to be asked!
i wished Nuxor would also see the scene where the titan blows up the tech spire on that planet because it was feeding a warp portal. one of the coolest shit i've seen ingame
Since Nux likes Lore so much he should react to Fate/Nasuverse lore, he could start with OtakuDaiKun’s lesson’s in magecraft series or Gigguk’s Explaining the Fate series.
so the funny thing about the space marine is that it has a technical prequel where borad the ork ship before the invasion it was a fun game i think it was call warhammer 40k kill team or something like that
Oh hey, its the very first video Warhammer 40K related I ever saw that made me a fan of the series. Neat to see it again after all these years and finally get most of the references.
I want Nux to get to some Adpeta Soroitas lore. If he loves the Space Marine zealotry this much, wait till learns the Sisters of Battle can often make the Space Marines look well adjusted! The SoB have some of my favourite fluff and lore, because of how full on crazy pants they get with putting a true religious spin on their zealotry. I also really enjoy how much they appreciate flame weapons of all shapes and sizes.
Nux, if you haven't found the story, the story of... I believe Grizgutz the Time Traveller is great. Ork travels back in time on accident. Hilarity Ensues. Also! Aeronautica by Remlase and Fiaura the Tank Girl covering 40K aircraft with real world physics has some great comedy and interesting science.
If you wanna see Lore, then see Numbskulls, because thats a lot of lore about all the Things, like the Emperor himself. Also did you Know that Orcs a... Mushroom People? Yeah they are Mushrooms.
3:26 I didn't expect Nux to laugh so consecutively at Badger's joke, most reactions I've seen lightly chuckle at but Nux just bursts out laughing lol I love it
1) The sorcerer's name is only one letter off: Nemeroth. 2) Titus' canon reply to Grimskull's "Ain't finished" line is outstandingly badass: "But I am finished with you, Ork."
Captain Titass of the Ultrasmurfs, sons of Rowboat Girlyman. 🤣 Also, when he was playing as the "blood" marine, he was playing as a Blood Raven, not a Blood Angel.
The resonance between Nux and Badger has me crying 🤣 They completely share the wave length.
More like they own it 😂

Blood Ravens are most likely a Thousand Sons (Primarch: Magnus the Red) successor chapter. Their chapter motto being "Knowlegde is power", their heavy use of psychers, similar pre-heresy armor design and bird symbolism all point to it.
They also don't have the Red Thirst and/or the Black Rage like all other Chapters of the Blood, so it's pretty unlikely their Primarch is Sanguinius.
Yeah, it's pretty obvious when you think about it.
They also love stealing ancient shit :D
_Echoes of Eternity_ has made it very clear that even the very idea of TS successors is pure delusion.
I thought so too, but then I heard someone make an argument for why the Blood Ravens are actually descended from Loyalist Word Bearers and I've just subscribed to that notion ever since.

I love that Nux is watching a Badger video, especially a Warhammer one. He made two other videos for Warhammer Space Hulk: Deathwing and Total War Warhammer 2 too. Hopefully he’ll make another one for the Space Marine sequel that’s supposed to be released this September.
Gonna love his reaction to Badger's Death Wing: Space Hulk game review.
Definitely gotta check out his video on Space Hulk: Deathwing next
"All races are equal. Equally edible."
-A lot of things honestly, from deamons to tyranids, and of course The Flood, part of the Halo lore which Nux should definitely do!
Need to check out Thunder Psyker's reviews of the Dawn of War series.
Finally, the Russian Badger coverage.
The Gheistos Cataclysm by Scholars Lore.
If you love Papa Nurgle like he loves you...give it a listen.
I really want Nux to react to Armoring Ritual of a Space Marine.
Just so fun seeing Nux learn more and more so that he can understand the references! :D
I love how RussianBadger and Nux think similarly
The blood ravens lore memes are so funny so glad Nux found the 40K rabbit hole
TheRussianBadger is a goated youtuber, more would be great!
The mod is Blood Raven not Blood Angel. They are maybe Magnus's boys(their history is a mystery with hints that they are Magnus's son)
Everything about this game was epic, and playing as any Blood Angel faction is so much more lore accurate when the 10 sec powerup kicks in.
This is one of my favorite shooters of all time. No other game has quite captured the feeling of being a space Marine as well as this one did.
The sound design alone is 😘👌 the stomping when you sprint, the thud of bolter rounds, the screams of your enemies. Music to my ears
The only thing missing is your overshield being called Contempt
If he does the Fleekazoid Warhammer videos, I can die happy 😁
The Codex Astartes, aka Space Art of War, is written by the Primarch of the Ultramarines, Roberto Gump.
The problem with the Codex is how "religiously" the Ultramarines follow that book, even though it's meant to take as a suggestion....sometimes to the point of getting executed because you slightly deviated from it. Richard Grumblemumble had to revise and add in "SONS, IT'S OK TO DEVIATE AND USE TACTICS!! YOU DON'T NEED TO FOLLOW THE BOOK."
Boltgun is a sequel to this game, and then Space Marine 2.
Hey nux my favorite piece of lore is how the thunder hammer is a anti tank weapon in one of the books a night lord was tagged by one and was like that hurt a lot and his friend said thank chaos it was a glancing blow
Nux please do the battlefleet gothic armada 2 cutscenes. Stories for each faction, and space battles, the grey knight vs tyranids has great scenes too
Ah nux is like me corrupting the imperium from the inside on the name of Tzeentch, the lord of change is the question and the answer is yes then what is an answer anyways but another question to be asked!
The Inquisition would like to know what planet you are located on.
I need a video on the second fear and hunger game nux, you are my only hope
You need to see his space hulk video as well it's hilarious
i wished Nuxor would also see the scene where the titan blows up the tech spire on that planet because it was feeding a warp portal. one of the coolest shit i've seen ingame
21:55 that’s pretty accurate space marines have specific organs/armor mods that inject battle stims upon join a battle or taking fire/damage
Badger's vid got me loving WH 40K more than I imagined also most importantly FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
Since Nux likes Lore so much he should react to Fate/Nasuverse lore, he could start with OtakuDaiKun’s lesson’s in magecraft series or Gigguk’s Explaining the Fate series.
Fun fact: this Badger video and the Astartes SFM introduce me to 40k, because the armors look Cool (specially that of the Blood Ravens).
Blood Angels for the WIN LET'S GO!!
YEEEEESSSSSS GLORY TO THE BADGER GOD
Tau are pretty vanilla but Commander Farsight is fucking awesome
so the funny thing about the space marine is that it has a technical prequel where borad the ork ship before the invasion it was a fun game i think it was call warhammer 40k kill team or something like that
I can't wait for you to learn more about "trazyn the infinite". I recommend Weshammer's video on "The Galaxy's BIGGEST Troll".
Oh hey, its the very first video Warhammer 40K related I ever saw that made me a fan of the series.
Neat to see it again after all these years and finally get most of the references.
Spaceman do not heal by killing their enemies. They have apothecary for that. And drugs!
Heavy Flamer Heresy by Russianbadger next!
I still watch that video every time I need a morale boost for defending the Imperium.
3:26 I didn't expect Nux to laugh so consecutively at Badger's joke, most reactions I've seen lightly chuckle at but Nux just bursts out laughing lol
I love it
Dr. Chris raynor has a great video series talking about what a potential space marine goes through to become one
Here with the obligatory Swaws.
He's playing as a Blood Raven which may or may not be a Magnus the Red boy that stayed loyal in the heresy.
Man, the tau are awesome. Been my main army for 10 years.
Love Badger videos, Epic content!!
Watching Nux enter his 40K Librarian Arc awesome.
Russian Badger was actually my introduction to 40K 😅😂
nux, if you liked this, you will LOVE his review of deathwing
1) The sorcerer's name is only one letter off: Nemeroth.
2) Titus' canon reply to Grimskull's "Ain't finished" line is outstandingly badass: "But I am finished with you, Ork."
Nux is finally watching Badger!!!!!!!
You synch so perfectly with Russian Bader's energy. It's bizzare and beautiful in its divine chaos.
Captain Titass of the Ultrasmurfs, sons of Rowboat Girlyman. 🤣
Also, when he was playing as the "blood" marine, he was playing as a Blood Raven, not a Blood Angel.
to quote the entire WH40k community "FUCK LEANDROS!"
Has anybody told this man there's a sequal called Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 releasing in September? I think Nuxanor will in fact; have a blast
