- In today's video we're going to be looking at my top 10 novels of the 1920s.
The 1920s was a great decade for literature. My recommendations include books still widely popular today, as well as lesser known gems waiting to be discovered!
Those novels and timestamps are:
Gentleman Prefer Blondes - 01:34
Mrs Dalloway - 03:04
Greenery Street - 04:43
The Great Gatsby - 05:58
The Age of Innocence - 07:24
The Enchanted April - 08:26
The Well of Loneliness - 09:48
Parade's End - 11:38
The Crowded Street - 13:38
The Sun Also Rises - 14:50
Next week I'll be reviewing my top 10 novels of the 1930s. There'll be whisky, shouting at manservants and loads more great reads - you won't want to miss it!
Worth reading is Radclyffe Hall's "Adam's Breed", (1926). Winner of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. A much better book than "The Well of Loneliness", which in itself is a good read and has become iconic in a way. I'm working my way through all your videos. The bite size reviews are just perfect. Have you stopped producing videos?
I just discovered your channel and I must say - You are fabulous ! Thanks for the recommendations!
@radiantchristina thank you so much for your lovely message 😘
Love it, funny and inspiring 🥰 great recommendations Miss P! Really looking forward to reading some of these and hearing about the books you love from 1930s in the next episode!
Thank you Ruth! I can’t wait to share next week’s books with you, I’m sure you’re going to love them! 😍
How many of your favourite 1920s novels made it to my list?
Poor old Gatsby! 😭
I love Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. I’m hoping your 1930’s selection includes Our Spoons Came from Woolworths by Barbara Comyns. Love that book!
@@lilypumpernickel Our Spoons Came From Woolworths is one of my favourites too!
Great upload - more videos please 😁
Thanks Ironside Gamer! Watch this space! 🙌🏻
The awkward pause as your champagne pourer struggles with opening the bottle. 😂
Edit: I continued watching and learned his name is Geoffrey.
Geoffrey is amazing.
Thank you so much Bethany! It goes without saying that I would love to pass your comments onto Joffrey but worry that such high praise would only go to his head! (You know what butlers are like!)🤣
@@missppresents1139 You’re completely right. It would totally inflate his already out of check ego! 😂
