I liked the last show called 'New Amsterdam' and it only lasted one season. Then came back again and lasted one season but was called 'Forever'. If this one is as good as the trailer looked I'll be disappointed when it gets cancelled again after one season.

I really want the Passage to be good. The books were epic and so full of depth and detail, the series could fall short if they fail to appreciate that.
I read the first one, but towards the ends, there were too many characters to keep track of. I recollect the child being infected, kind of remembering wolgast on the run! What do you remember?
Amys back story. The nuns , Her mothers story, Wolghast's history. The Drs going to find the stuff in the wild, how they're involved. Anthony's story, why was in prison. I think I've read it 2 or 3 times. I'm not sure if this book one goes onto the colony stuff. SUCH A GREAT STORY!!!!
Had a little too much depth and detail i have to say. It could be better in tv format because of it. The books are also so different it may keep interest in the series alive, if it lasts longer than the first season since its kind of hard to absorb for a main stream audience. I would be surprised this lasts if they don't tweak it, like having the blonde woman.

The "The Passage" TV series here could be vastly different from the novel of the same name. For those who are not aware what the story is about, I will do a short summary of the novel here.
SPOILERS ALERT - BE WARNED, DO NOT READ BELOW....
The novel is broken into different arcs. The first part discuss the origins of the virus and its terrible effects, while the second has a time skip set 93 years after the infections, primarily following a colony of survivors living in California.
The U.S. government is conducting a super soldier experiment known as "Project Noah," which involves acquiring and transporting death row inmates to a secret military compound in Colorado, ostensibly for the purposes of testing a drug intended to greatly prolong life. These genetic experiments originate from patient zero, Tim Fanning - one of two surviving members of an expedition investigating a Bolivian bat-carried virus. The virus, while causing hemorrhagic fever and death in those who initially contracted it, is resulting in a boosting of the immune system, and enhanced strength and agility in the current subjects.
The FBI agents are are ordered to collect 6 year old Amy Bellafonte from a convent, and deliver her to Dr. Lear, the head of the project. At Noah she is exposed to a refined version of the serum administered to "The Twelve"-the original inmates. But Amy's immune system has not had chance to mature and it will form a symbiosis with the virus and live with her symbiotically, instead of the violent forms it has taken with the other twelve.
Of the 12 inmates, Babcock, the original test subject, is stronger and appears to have developed psychic abilities, occasionally influencing his guards and cleaners.
Zero (AKA Fanning) and the other twelve inmates mentally take control of the guards and escape their quarantine cells, rapidly killing all who stand in their way. Amy is rescued by Brad Wolgast (the FBI agent who brought her to Noah) and escape to a mountain retreat where they live for several months, occasionally picking up news of the contagion spread throughout America.
Wolgast eventually succumbs to radiation sickness when a nuclear device is detonated relatively nearby - he assumes that the government is attempting to sterilize infected areas of the country - and Amy is left to fend for herself.
The novel then skip forward approximately 93 years, a isolationist colony established by the military in conjunction with FEMA not long after the initial outbreak, in slow decline... One character (a technician called Michael) is able to to establish clandestine radio contact with the outside world to obtain spares for their failing equipment - specifically their batteries which power the high-wattage lights which protect the colony from the virals - vampiric beings who is highly sensitive to light.
Amy's arrival at this colony, her super human healing abilities and inner-colony friction (caused by Babcock's mental influence over several Colony figures) force several of the colony dwellers to join up with Amy and seek out another military site in Colorado - from where Michael has been receiving faint radio signals.
During the travel, Amy demonstrates a psychic bond with the marauding virals, and keep her group safe. They come across another settlement established in a Las Vegas prison, known as the Haven, which, while initially welcoming, is in fact Babcock's lair. The Haven's residents, most under the mental influence of Babcock, "feeds" him blood sacrifices in exchange for being left alone by the horde of virals at his disposal, referred to as "The Many" (as opposed to The Twelve).
Theo Jaxon, Peter's brother who had been captured by virals months earlier, has been imprisoned here. Babcock is slowly attempting to grasp hold of his mind to make him a Familiar, but because he does not give in, he is served as a sacrifice. After resisting Babcock's mental influence, Theo and Mausami (his pregnant lover) are rescued by Peter.
During a botched attempt to kill Babcock during one of the monthly blood sacrifice rituals, sympathizers at the Haven enable the group to escape via railroad, and they arrive at a farmstead. Theo and Maus stay behind so that the baby can be born safely while the rest of the group continue on and eventually meet up with a Texan military group, who assist them in finding the Colorado outpost.
Once at the Colorado outpost, the group decided to lure Babcock to it - where they will detonate a nuclear device originally designed to sterilize the compound, but never used. The group theorize that the virals are like a hive mind and once Babcock is dead his hold over the virals created exponentially by him will cease and they will no longer be a threat. While waiting for Babcock to arrive, the group is attacked, resulting in Alicia ("Lish") becoming infected, and treated by Sara the medic with modified serum.
Upon Babcock's arrival, Lacey lures him to a chamber where she detonates the bomb, destroying herself, Babcock, and much of the outpost. The attacking virals all collapse and die again, in most cases leaving behind nothing but dust, proving the hive theory correct.
Lish adapts to the virus in a similar manner to Amy and Lacey before her, yet with differences - she has limited psychic abilities, but has the strength and endurance of a viral. Greer, one of the Texan soldiers traveling with them, comments that she would be a formidable soldier - suggesting that Lish has become the first true "super soldier" that the government was trying to develop 93 years ago.
The group return to Theo and Maus at the farmstead, where the baby has been born safely and then they all depart. Part of the group - Amy, Peter, Michael, Greer and Lish - after months of walking, return to the First Colony only to find it deserted, with no sign of what happened or where the colonists may have gone. There are two bodies, a victim of a suicide and that of Auntie, who seemingly died of old age. They decide to hunt down the remaining Twelve using Lear's files to determine their locations, and Lish as their primary weapon. That night Amy meets the infected Wolgast, outside the Colony.
The other group stays with the Texan Expeditionary force, and their remaining story is related through parts of Sara's diary - her last entry is at Roswell Base, and among comments about her own pregnancy she states that she can hear gunshots, and is going to investigate. This entry is presented as part of the future reference material, and is stated to have come from the site of "The Roswell Massacre". The novel ends ambiguously for all surviving characters.

Amy is an Orphan that's one reason why they choose her, they don;t know at this point that sth is up with her. Read the books, they are REALLY good. Not so sure about that trailer / tv show tho.

You have to do what I do. I don't ever watch the first or second season. I wait until I see if the show will go on before I watch. I hate watching the first season to only they cancel the show without a proper ending. So if the show survive for more tan just 2 seasons, then I might give it a try because by season 3 if they cancel the show they might give the show a ending. They might.

The problem with these shows is that you'll never get an ending. They're written to suit demand, and if demand drops, so does the show. If demand increases, they'll keep adding seasons. You can't win.

There are a few that look good but most look like garbage. Considering how many shows just got axed they're going to need a good amount of shows to fill the spots. Plus they need backups when most of these fail.

The Passage looks good, although I'm still upset at Fox for cancelling Lucifer. All these networks are pushing out supernatural/scifi series, but supernatural/scifi shows don't work on public networks. The executives are all too willing to cancel a show once ratings dip, and I know Fox has been the main offender of this. Look back on the supernatural/scifi shows they cancelled -Sliders (1995), Firefly (2002-2003), etc. The only show that managed to outlive its shelf life was X-Files, and even that was stretch. I can't support a network that cares about ratingns then they do about their fans.
Sliders was good to S3, later - was a crap.

I think it's awesome that the networks have lined up lots of new shows with so many Asian lead actors, loving the diversity in Hollywood.
Manifest sort of, reminds me of an old radio play called Special to Hollywood by Arch Oboler.
Where a group of movie star passengers go on a plane and, while going up to avoid some storm clouds. They suddenly feel as though they're hanging in the air.

Manifest reminds me of The 4400 and Resurrection. The only reason I'm kind of leary to watch this is because I don't want to invest my time in this show and it pulls an ending like they did in "Lost." Then again they may cancel it.

Why Lucifer is crap to me.... because it had no meaning at all, it just played with biblical references... now... i know it is based on a comic book..that at the same time use biblical reference... and i do understand that for the ignorants of the bible those characters could be something cool... but for people that have read the bible they do understand that those same characters used in the TV show are completely different and deeper in the bible...so in the bible they are far more interesting, so why is Lucifer such a hype for u? because it treats the unknown for you... obviously you are not a follower nor a reader of the bible... so it is easy to fool you... but the story...the plot... the tv show itself...is pure crap... same as Percy Jackson and all those movies... same as Gods of Egypt... they just play with mythological , "the unknown" for the ignorants... supernatural powers...magic... the unknown...and sex... is what they sells....! crap... you do not need a tv show to face those things... the life itself is beyond that...

my big question is why they need that specific kid in "the Passage" there have to be plenty of kids in foster care in Colorado the characters could have easily gotten access to so why that kid that's not even in the state they're doing the testing in? Unless they give a really good explanation in the first episode that plot hole is going to sink that show and Manifest should be decent if done well and be an enjoyable one season before it is not renewed
The answer is in the first book of the trilogy. Amy's mother is a murderer (self-defense) on the run, and Amy is not in the system. Amy is just collateral damage until the Project Noah people find out about her. Her mother leaves her at a convent, and the nuns try to take care of her (they all get killed).
plus there happens to be something about her but that wasn't known...can't say more but the books were awesome and if the show would go into all the details and depth it wont come off cheesy

I don’t care about the color of her skin, just that for those like me who didn’t know that it was based on a book they’d have to explain why a specific kid was needed because again my first thought was that there should be plenty of kids in foster care in Colorado to choose from and kids in foster care run away all the time easy enough to cover up a disappearance that way.

Advertisers pay big $$ for the best slots in the most popular shows! Understood, yes I think I so. Disclaimer!! I understand what I stated is not the only reason shows get chopped, there r other reasons too, reasons I find too boring to go into. :|

I hate to admit it, but Lucifer started strong, but grew stale quickly. A lot of these mystical shows are trying to do what Supernatural did/doing, which is unheard of. The 14th Season is starting . That being said, SN was first pitched in the late 80s (I THINK) and finally got picked up in 03. My point is, don't get too attached to mystical scfi shows. They rarely are around for more than 2 or 3 seasons. 5 Seasons is considered successful usually..
The Passage... I hope they do it right. The books are amazing !
