The guitars are recorded Di and with the Røde NT5 microphones.
Wow can I just say. Fantastic playing by both at the end there.
Great video again guys. I could listen all day to you both
Mick is so damn good. Pete's probably the more versatile player, but Mick can play the hell out of an acoustic guitar. Catching up on these because of covid. So glad there's so many AP videos.
Great job on the jam at the end. Nice to see demo videos where there is nothing but pure fun happening!
Loved this video, guys!
Great addition to the video series.
Keep it up!!
Another great video. Two minutes after putting my lighter down I rummaged around for my acoustic, shook the spider out of the sound hole and played all the CSNY tunes i could still remember for a couple of hours. Thanks guys.
Some REALLY beautiful playing there guys! Really enjoyed this video. Keep it up!!
Wwwwwwwaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! That outro! I’m sat here jamming along to the video with my brand new 314ce TLOU2 edition that I got today and this has been one of the most pleasant moments of my life. I ran out of talent at the end there, but hey, new life goals and all that. Maybe one day I’ll be able to jam along. Stunning.
oh man, what a jam at the end :D
More acoustic sessions and more jams, please!
+Stephen Lafferty They are coming, every Monday is now Acoustic Paradiso day.
+Andertons Music Co Please do some Gibson acoustic review.. or comparisons between brands.. Thank You!
+Andertons Music Co Great news, absolutely love electrics but there is something more complex and beautiful about acoustic guitars. And when it's Paradiso top models.. oh boy
+Luka V Coming soon..
What a lovely channel, great players, non biased reviews and no mockery. I would love to see Mick and Pete do a comparison of a Vox Ac30/15 C2 vs the Handwired, that would be super cool. Thank you guys for great videos.
Finally!!! I have been waiting for Anderton's to do something acoustically speaking. Sweet sounds!
This was a great video, make more like this one please. These two guys are great guitarists but have also turned out to be fabulous presenters.
I played the 814ce last Friday at Andertons and its tone is superb ,I am an owner of a 614ce big leaf maple guitar and it sounds superb as well ,getting better the more I play it after 8 years
That jam section was fantastic!
Wow, you two are great players. To hell with the axes.... I loved your jamming.
Wow, that jam at the end was fantastic!!
pro tip : you can watch series at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies recently.
@Easton Oakley definitely, been watching on flixzone} for since november myself =)
@Easton Oakley Definitely, I've been watching on Flixzone} for since december myself :)
Ah love acoustic guitars! They're just magical
Nice review and performance!! I agree the various material and thickness of picks offers different tone. Prior to hurt my thumb, I used to choose a thick pick, but now I am choosing a thin pick. No way. It took for a while to get used to it.
a solid little drop d jam out...you guys played wonderfully..thanks for the review
Great video. Looking toward to the next acoustic ones. It would be great if you'd compare and review Gibsons J-45 Standard vs J-45 Vintage.
At least on the video, there is more difference between Mick and Pets's technique than with the sound of the guitars themselves. Both are awesome sounding acoustics!
I love my Taylor with East Indian Rosewood- a tad bit more mellow ( bass ) than the bright Brazilian. Just my taste ( like Martin guitars). They are BOTH great and Rob Taylor has really given the other big 2 some thing to match in his building. Yes, great jamming at the end. Thanks guys.
The best thing, especially with acoustic guitars, is to play them yourself and try them out in person. I was amazed how different the guitars sound and FEEL!!! I unexpectedly chose a Furch over a Maton that was twice the price. It just had a more even sound with a nice character and it felt great.
However I think this still gives you a rough idea of what they sound like.
That pretty little ditty (in drop D) at the end was great, it left me wanting more! Perhaps the most important variable in the sound comparison would be what we viewers are listening to this video through...(common sense isn’t always common🤷🏻♂️). Thanks for sharing!
Great sounding guitars impressed with that jam fellows good stuff.
I'd love you guys to do a Taylor comparison with different strings, like with the from Factory, with the Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze, some D'addario EXP or such, etc etc to see how the tone is changed.
Finally some great acoustic demo/comparison vids :) ...really enjoyed this, Mick & Pete Would love to see you guy compare the PRS SE Acoustic to others in the same price class. Also would be cool to have one of you playing a regular six string and the other jamming on a Nashville high-strung guitar. Any tips you can give on recording acoustic guitars or singer/songwriter (acoustic + vocal at the same time) would also be very cool.
Comparing the various Gibson J45 models would also be sweet :)
The 814CE Brazilian Rosewood that Mick is playing sounds bigger, fuller and warmer.
I wouldn't have guessed the difference is as big as it is.
BTW, good demo on the impact a pick makes @ 13:20
Brilliant Jammy Jam at the end!
you guys are the best!
These videos are the best
To my ears the Brazilian Rosewood seemed to have a bit more clarity/brightness?? Not sure if that is what came across in the room though. Both sound great though! Nice job guys!!
Brilliant!
You guys from Andertons should form a band and write some material together. Join forces with Mick, Pete, Matt, Dave, Rabea, Lee, Rob and Ben. It would be immense.
Great video again guys.
they could call it the "andertones".
+William Stanway Great idea
+Bushcraft Guitarist And even Dan from That Pedal Show!
+James Russo and Dan too, thanks James
Make a jam together.
I have the old 414ce with Expression system and it's a beautiful guitar. Sounds great in open tunings too. Never needs adjustment or tuning : -)
I also have an old 90's 414ce. Satin finish, glued-in neck (pre bolt-on). I love it! Like you said, I never need to adjust it!
Such tasteful playing... You're acoustic chops are amazing Mick.
Congratulations to both.
that jam was great
Have you ever thought of doing some tutorials of your jams....... I would love to be able to play along you you two!!!
Just a thought. sound is awesome!
When is the Mick and Pete EP/album coming out? If you want something that could be similar, listen to Chester And Lester.
how about a vs. video with cheap affordable acoustics?
or mahogany vs. rosewood?
I have 2018 814ce dlx v brace I love it
hey, love the acoustic version of the show! the martin DC16GTE has a small microphone init along with the pickup, can you show how that works in a future episode (if anyone in the comments who has experience with the model could say what you think of it as well, that'd be great.
Does anybody know the chord progression Mick is playing at the beginning? It sounds fantastic.
Really fun to listen to, as usual, but I wish they would've switched guitars halfway through; Pete's playing always sounds just a little brighter to me and Mick's a little warmer, so I can't tell if what I'm hearing is the difference in tonewoods or just the difference in players.
I love your videos Mick and Pete, you make be crack up and have a good ol belly laugh. Some of the "expressions" you come up wit Pete are hilarious, the Charlie Chaplin of guitar... good on ya mate. cheers
Wow, those are even brighter than my crafter guitars. Great guitars just a tad bright for me.
I think it’s the way they play . If actually gets really bass-y .
The Brazilian rosewood sounds quite a bit better to me. It is balanced but has amazing highs, lows, and midrange. It is warm and seeet. The Indian rosewood has good bass and highs but the mids are scooped. The Indian rosewood also has a darker sound. I guess it depends on what you like. I have a D-28 and it has a more warm and sweet sound, but it isn't anything like the Brazilian Taylor. Great reviews.
Guys at andertons!!!could you compare martin d15m with the taylor 320 or compare all the 15's series
Anybody knows a song similar to the jam at the end? I'd like to learn more of that style, no idea where to start.
I have a Taylor ( East Indian Rosewood b/s) and Bob Taylor has the right attitude about woods, preservation and re- growing. He still innovates and that's something a couple of major guitar makers do not. His techniques of building, consistency and a little experimentation will make Taylor guitars the best, and best selling ( IMHO ) in the future.
We all need to think of this when landing in a plane all I see in S E Asia is palm oil trees ( lifespan -25 years).
Love the Brazilian but boy both of these are a lot of money! I would cry if something happened on a gig with either one
Dude on the right immediately takes his mic and moves it from the neck-body joint (where it should have been) and moves it right in front of the sound hole. So you've got the guy on the left with a mic at the neck-body joint and the guy on the right with a mic at the sound hole. Not much of a comparison like that. What were you thinking?
I'd love if you could do a review of the 314ce. I'm thinking of getting one
malcolm quiney I’m also thinking of the 314ce. Please demo it for us! And thanks!
So, i have a guitar, back and side were made from indian rosewood, do i need a passport when i travel ? Thx
Please compare Mahogany to Rosewood. Also cedar to spruce. Great video thnx.
The picks made the most difference
did they hit the E string as a bass note on the strums?
I was hearing a Wah-wah pedal sound like , I thought it was the microphone. I bought the guitar and the 814ce actually does sound like it . Somehow the sound in the Taylor brace system along with the rosewood do that . Idk why . I couldn’t believe but , you can try yourself in a shop . Just need a little good attack .
Maybe the brazilian sounds more full. Both sound similar. Hard to tell truthfully. I too like thick picks. Red bear 2mm guthrie govan with acoustic works for me. And the Elixir HD work well.
Blindfold Martin Vs. Taylor Vs. Gibson acoustic......
+Mootklegg vs. a $300 yamaha
and a $3000 Yamaha
@Cody Goins 😂😂😂
have you guys been practicing?
that brought t to my eyes
Can you comment on taylor v bracing?
I sure have picked up some good licks from you two goofballs......greetings from the U.S......
You can hear it on iPhone speakers. There is definitely a difference in the two! Great playing guys
Jump to 10:37 for the comparison of Mic (Rode NT5) vs ES2
So here's a good question. Is that pick guard on the Brazilian rosewood 814ce an Indian rosewood pick guard or Brazilian rosewood as well?
Not a Brazilian pickguard Igor.
+Mick Taylor yeah I went to a roadshow two nights ago, and they told me Indian. They had a real nice 812ce with Brazilian too :)
They already start to clone Brazilian Rosewood, so it will be available for a much cheaper price in the future. I would take the Indian Rosewood guitar, only because it is half the price, for almost the same sound.
have you met robben ford?
Encore!
i'll like to see you guys review some seagulls and breedlove guitars
GrayTie They don't carry Seagulls or Breedloves. People have to remember that they only review in-store products, so check their website first before requesting reviews.
Watching from the future.........
How about some hummingbirds? :)
Why do people slap or pull the base strings so much they rattle on the frets?
Please!!martin D15m
i like the non Brazilian.. idk maybe it just me.. darker tones attracts me.. ;) GJ tho.. i actually found the guitar i used last gig tho the very reason i looked here haha thanks guys!
I have a 2015 814ce and changed out the bridge pins from the Taylor factory ebony to a $13 set of buffalo bone pins (yep, made in China.) I really like the results so far, it is richer and even livelier. Taylor sells a bone bridge that I am tempted to try next.
1 minute in and just,,, YES
I love to wake up to a cup of coffee and some Danish.
I've not heard that wood story but if customs did confiscate the guitar then of course it would be destroyed. What else would they do? Keep it in storage forever?
We haven't heard any horror stories. It's said they may get used for 'training' or 'education'. But I don't know of a guitar that's been confiscated and kept. Anyone know of one? And for the record, this Brazilian rosewood is old stock, fully legal.
How are you guys so good?!
+Marc Budi Lots and lots of practice and lots and lots of videos :)
Love Taylor but 800 series is more than my budget. 300 series seems to give most of the sonic quality but within a (high) budget.
I am a Taylor lover but also take a look at a martin gpcpa4 they're around the same price and killer as well!
more low mids in the Brazilian, a little warmer, wouldn't warrant £3000 for me tho
Not much difference.not the biggest Taylor fan.the jam, what I'm here for,was fan-fn-tastic!pete's the bomb!and,id rather hear it out of a couple of Gibsons!!! Again, great jam pete!
This guitar rings, best money I've ever spent!
I really think they sound good one not better then the other I could not really say the Brazilian sounded any better in my opinion
Hard to compare with the mics on different axis's.
Nice playing there at the end Mick... You really got a nice sound out of the Brazilian Rosewood Guitar... (I suppose for $5000plus it should sound pretty good though huh?) Just joking, sounded really great! Both you and Pete... What pick were you using at the end and were you tuned down to D for the whole session here? Cheers! Buddy
Thanks Buddy. I was using a Dunlop Primetone Standard 1.4mm. My fave picks for everything, except maybe light strumming. Thanks for the kind words!
I know you guys usually review high-end equipment but how about some sort of affordable acoustic (or electric) guitar challenge where each of you pick an affordable guitar that you like.
+Qumega The Guitar Paradiso team are really there to focus on the best gear out there. However, Rob & I, plus Rabea & Pete will be looking at more affordable stuff throughout the year, so just stay tuned! I'm sure you'll find some stuff you like!!
+CaptAnderton Didn't even see you replied to me until now. Thanks for the info!
Loud and beautiful guitars. I hope I can afford one of these someday.
How about Martin's next?
Hey Simon. The boys have done two Martin videos. They are in the Acoustic Paradiso playlist. Thank you for watching.
My bad, sorry! Keep up the good work though, I love the "Paradiso" series of videos.
Martin vs. Taylor anyone?
gibson wins
Tondo van Rest I have both Martin's an Taylor's I really like Martin's but I love my Taylor guitars
Tondo van Rest It’s really not about wood. It’s about Fibonacci ratio. Taylor guitars don’t have good genes to begin with; irregardless of Brazilian Rosewood, they will never sound as good as Martin Guitars. Martin guitars have perfect proportions, no fancy necks or fancy bridges. Just enough wood here and there for perfect sound.
Can we get an mp3 of that outdo jam Phenomenal!
Not much of a difference on my android lg phone but Micks edged out Petes but not by much was it guitar, mic position, or technique not shure.
How about you don't yet compare different brands, but maybe the different body shapes first, and then later on in the series go about putting the different brands and models up against one another...
I think that tonewise Brasilian its not worth extra money! Just my opinion.. :)
Somebody likes Roy Harper!
Still not sure if both are the same year model. Are both Revoiced?
I don't like the action setting of Taylor guitars when they first come out from the factory. All need to be adjusted at the saddles. Both 814 here sound no good ie. actions are too high.
The brazillian is definetly "silkier".
Bullshit
You're welcome....
What is Pete's accent?
Danish
fragmatic1964 thank you!
Got yer back, bro!
= )
