  • In the early 2000's Taylor began a limited series of gutiars that have become somewhat famous. Dubbed the "legends of the fall" collection, the fall limited edition guitars boasted a unique back inlay design and exotic tonewoods that made for some absolutely killer guitars. Today's example features the coveted and rare Brazilian rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) on the back and sides. It is now illegal to log Brazilian rosewood trees and the wood that is available on the market today is rapidly decreasing in number, further driving up the price of the lusted after tonewood. While there have been many alternatives pop up over the years many guitar players still desire to own a guitar with this precious species. This vintage limited edition Taylor, with it's unique appointments and 20 plus years of aging is a great example of the offering available to the savvy guitar shopper.

    Simply a feast for my eyes and ears. Truly a Legend. A guitar for all seasons, not just Fall.

    Wow! Two bars in and I jumped off the kitchen chair, sprinted into the bedroom, slammed the door shut and cranked up the volume! Perfect showcasing, Cooper. And, Chris.. “just a pair a knees” is a path well pioneered for us, just follow my lead there. My word that was beautiful.

    I got to play one of these last year at Seven C’s music in St. Petersburg, Fl. I think it was the best acoustic sound I’ve ever heard (despite my playing…)

    I would love to get or see the Wood & Steel from winter 95, the cover story “A walk thru the woods”. I Read it before purchasing my fall limited 810 braz/engelman. Older than Cooper

    Fantastic playing... I believe in the not too distant future we'll see Taylor circle back to X-bracing. V-class has a different sound, it's subjectively worse, but it really depends on play style and tonal preference....On some Waterloo models, Collings offers ladder bracing or X-bracing, it's a feature for the buyer to determine. Taylor went all in on V-Class bracing because Taylor's position in the market is about being innovative. I think a lot of their innovation's are just trade offs, but when your big competitors are Gibson and Martin, companies that have been around for over 100 years, you're not going to win on tradition... So Taylor goes all-in when they do new things and that's business strategy. I think that's much better for Taylor than it is for Taylor's customers.

    I find it hard to like New Taylor's. However, old dreads (before 2000's) have the stuff for sure. This one is sounding pretty good too!

    I was really interested in the comment about Brazilian Rosewood. I've avoided it in the past thinking the trebles would be too spiky/glassy. I have 2 Furch acoustics mahogany & Cedar that are my favourites. I also have a Taylor and a Martin in solid mahogany that I like a lot but they do lack a bit of top end. I'm wondering if my next purchase should be Brazilian Rosewoodbut does anyone know if any manufacturer makes a Brazilian Rosewood with a cedar top other than Furch?

  • @BuffaloC305
    @BuffaloC305 Рік тому

    Bob is not MY expert for wood or guitars. He refused to used variant-colored ebony, claiming "the public will not like seeing wood grain on fretboards." HAH. So he harvested and wasted tons of 'figured' ebony rather than letting wood-loving acoustic players that chance.

    • @JesseDylanMusic
      @JesseDylanMusic Рік тому +1

      He then went on to change how all companies use ebony, though. Martin fans complain about it ad nauseam. My d-18 has some streaks on its ebony. I’m cool with that. :) not cool with wood waste! They actually mention it in this video, too, how much used to be wasted.

      @@anthonysmithjr.7388 not YOUR money. MY money. There’s an astronomical difference in price with barely a discernible difference in sound between EIR and BR in my own experience playing both woods and anyone that thinks otherwise is a fool that’s beholden to nothing more than folklore. But again that’s my opinion based on experience.
