It's perfectly legal to use a Highbankers in NSW, Australia. Highbankers or sluice box alone is not illegal. The use of motorize or mechanical pump in highbanking is what's illegal. The mining act 1996 and the pump moving the water from A to B is covered by the water management act 2000. Cheers
Thanks for watching kim and hope you enjoyed the vid.A lot of the areas around here are Basalt based with a lot of black Spinel. These unfortunately are not magnetic so we have to do it the hard way. I wish the streams we worked were magnetite based as the use of a rare earth magnet would certainly make life a lot easier. Best wishes....Cheers Wal.
hi Scott... thanks for watching. This is one of the many gold bearing streams within an hours drive from where we live. It's a popular area as it has mainly flour gold which was very difficult for the old timers to clean out. Every flood replenishes the gold and it is not uncommon to get around 5 grams of gold for an easy days hi banking. this would probably equate to around a cubic meter per 5 grams. On a really good day we get as much as 10 grams. Good luck on your local streams...Cheers Wal.
hi great vid... im from Gulgong, have done a bit of panning years ago and only ever found specs,, waiting on the arrival of my metal detector, and looking forward to getting back into looking .. thanks for sharing this vid, it stired up the old gold fever ,lol
Thanks for watching oshiroivan, the sluice will get you gold every time you go out. with the 2 detectors your talking about ,both are a very good machine. my preference would be slightly towards the minelab as have an edge on ground balancing in heavy mineralized soil.
thanks for watching....a mate of mine has one of those "Marks" drop riffle sluices and working side by side with us ends up with half of what we get....problem with them is they fill up too quickly with black sand and as Oallen has only flour gold much of it washes through. If you clean them out every hour or so it helps. Cheers Wal.
Glad you enjoyed the vid bulls, sounds like you had some great trips out Nundle way in the 70's. Good luck in finding the old rocker box and hope there's still plenty of gold there for you...best wishes, Cheers Wal.
Thanks for watching Bryan....I've also got a vid out on How to build a high volume high banker that may be of interest to you.....Whipstick is a great place ...got some good gold from there....Cheers Wal.
WOW , That is a great day lot's of color very nice video, I like your high-banker setup!. You gave me some idea's about different matting thanks again and you got my subscription. Peace
Glad you enjoyed the vid Paul. The Banker is an older version of the one I mainly use but is very efficient at this particular spot as it only has very fine flour gold. All the very best.....Wal.
Congrats on the Video guys, Obviously well practiced, been there and done it before and know what you're doing. I'm just getting back to it in Tassie after a long while so we'll se how we go :)
cool setup looks like it catches the fines really well, i like the wedge design and that big aluminum expanded metal i gotta find some of that here in the states
excellent work Wal n Liz! i think a powerful magnet will separate the black sand from the gold most times & make your panning alot easier, all the best kimbo!
Like a lot of people i found that really informative, been looking at this area and thinking of doing some panning just for fun. really good work guys.
Hi wal and liz thanks for that,i have found lots of old mines around the copeland area around the lower barrington tops and which looks like could be a good camping area on the river up there just have to get up there now and have a go.cheers.
Thanks for the comment. We find it unnecessary to classify, as we are only panning off the concentrates at the end of the session. When we have a lot of gold, we double pan to speed up the process. On average, a daily clean up, usually takes us no more than 10 minutes and find that we lose an insignificant amount of gold.....cheers and thanks for watching.
Love ya videos guys, you're a bloody character Liz. I bought my first pans last week and me and the girl will be around Fossikers Way in august, hope to see yas round.
Thanks for the comment. We run a Minelab GPX 5000 and do quite well on the goldfields. The afternoons high-banking only yielded a few grams. Cheers, Wal
Thanks for watching david. We mainly do the vids for family and friends, so they can keep up with what we do on our weekends away. We do not do them to be teachers but many learn different ideas from the way we operate. The vids are meant to be a source of fun and not a teaching aid ,and that's the way we like it. We don't want "Everybody" to watch them, only those who who have a similar interest in the outdoors like ourselves. All the very best ,...Cheers Wal.
: My name is Musa from Sudan. I have experience of at least five years in the field of gold work. I have experience with dealing with gold devices, especially the GPZ 7000 device and the gold monster. I want to work with any company working in the field of gold. I can also extract gold pieces from large distances.
Glad you enjoyed the vid Clouds. Certainly a pleasant day out on the river and a good place for a swim during the heat of the day. All the very best...Wal.
Thaks for the comment david. we mainly show the vids for family and friends with an interest in the outdoors. We do not make them to encourage the public for financial gain. Some sell their gold...some use it for their personal collection....some like us make jewelery from it. All these topics are a separate vid in themselves directed at a different market.....Cheers Wal.
this is actually a really good video on how to do gold panning and the teqniques and such ...really well explained and showed..not that i will ever do it i dont htink :P but thanks guys and GOOD LUCK!
@tfa40729...Trevor, thanks for your constructive input. We set the gold catching section of our high banker into 2 different configurations, hence the 2 mats on the top section of the high banker. The 1st mat traps all the coarse gold, the 2nd mat traps all the fine flour gold. The lower section of the high banker, is used only for trapping sapphires hence no mats and no clean up shown. We feel it's not necessary to show each mat separately as they both combine to do the same thing....see cont.
Thanks for your concern sepfirem. We always double pan our first run and never have more than a couple of specks in the 2nd pan. Once you yourself become efficient at gold panning then maybe you will also be able to speed up a little yourself. Again, thanks for your concern but unfortunately, we do not lose any gold for you to pan behind us....Cheers, Wal
LOL... Unfortunately, our time on this earth is extremely short. It's best to somehow squeeze some spare time into the equation of life before the chance passes you by. Sorry to hear how busy you are and hope spare time becomes more favorable down the track. All the very best, Wal
Found this combination to be the most efficient. The expanded metal is not your typical aluminium expanded. It is in actual fact expanded roof access grate which can be sourced from any of your commercial roofers. The sides of this mesh are vertical and not angled and this makes it a lot more efficient on fine flour gold, because of the bigger vortex it creates. Best of luck!....Wal
@ArizonaBob Thanks for watching.... I'm about to film a short video on sniping for coarse gold in our local streams. I think you'll enjoy this video. Regards........Wal
@rooshooter1977 Glad you liked the video. Certainly great spot. Thanks for the tip but if you use enough water on the front wash the gold won't float on the back wash. Certainly if you're not use to panning flour gold then a drop of dish liquid will certainly make it easier for you. Look forward to possibly catching up on the river and exchanging ideas. Cheers, Wal and Liz
Hi Brad...haven't panned much in that area....only detected in the triangle. Have panned a lot up in the high country between Mt Hotham and Dargo over the years with good results. The Crooked River near Dargo is certainly worth a shot ...Regards Wal.
You two are great. Looks like you are having a great time. Thanks for posting. Try screening your cons or classifying as they say in the US before you pan. It really does make the panning process easier. My wife and I get a kick out of finding pickers in the screens when we look through the screened material. We kind of race each other looking around to find a piece of gold and giggle like kids when we do.
Thanks very much for your comment Thomas. Great to see that your wife also gets involved with your great hobby. We find that double panning our concentrates from this area gets us 99% of the gold in our highbanker. The 1% which goes back into the river; goes to the "Gold Gods" and for this, they look after us on our following trips...lol Hope all's going great over your way. Cheers, Wal

thanks for watching Wayne....not hard to get bitten by that gold bug....get out as often as you can ....the more you go the better you get and the more bitten you become. Try to go to a place like the ford first. You will learn a lot as the gold is reasonably consistent and there is always someone out there most weekends who are willing to share advice......happy hunting Wal.
glad you enjoyed the vid...the shoveling looks like hard work but when you pace yourself as lazily as we do.....15 min dig.... 15 min rest ...15 min...chat....then the work is really not that bad. We only chase the gold and gemstones for a hobby so don't need it to pay the bills....Cheers Wal.
i have been looking for a ideal setup to run as i am keen as to start going on the hunt for gold on weekends as i have been bitten by the gold bug after watching bering sea gold on t.v. big thumbs up and good luck in your future prospecting : )

Nice to see that broth. it looks like wight exceed 10 grams. very cool and thanks for posting
Thanks for watching Abdalla. It's a bit less than that as flour gold always looks more in the video. Have a great New Year. Cheers, Wal
