Heathrow is very busy, requiring holding at times. It is first and foremost a busy place where pilots must pay attention so as to not need a go around. After one has landed and taxied to their gate, perhaps then a pilot could reflect on properly flown his approach, made a safe landing, and used taxiways to move about the field. Recently, some truly foolish voters rejected constructing a third runway north side of the airport. Short sighted and short of reality were those officials and voters.

It's G-BOAB, which I was lucky to fly on in 1984. It's one of the Concordes that is not in a museum, just on display.

No, he turned off both the autopilot and autothrottle at 500ft (radio altitude), just as the Germanwings aircraft vacated the runway.
Lands at Heathrow and taxis to Gatwick.
Come on, Uber drivers have to earn their tips!! At least Icelandair haven't got the Concorde worry of "Breakfast in London...Lunch in New York...baggage in Bahrain" like some airlines!

Off-topic question: are there many airlines or other companies that hire pilots with well-groomed (short) beards?
I'm on my way to take my first into becoming a pilot, but before I get too deep into it I want to know what the chances of keeping my facial hair are. Again, I don't necessarily want to fly with airlines, but it'd be my preference.

Used as much fuel getting to the terminal point as on the whole flight from Iceland!
6 camera, but photos show from wrong position mostly. Need too have wiew over control panel in the middle of the cockpit but we mostly saw from right side position and the face of co- pilot, not even the runway when plane landing. Not very good producer.

I'll tell you what happened, the plane glided onto the runway, and the wheels touched down, followed by taxing to the main terminal, dinner at Max Maximum Steakhouse, sleepover at the Hilton, and then Takeoff the next day, so you didn't really miss anything...
It's ok, anyway Jason is famous, rich and a good actor too..LOL!

If co pilot aka first officer lands the plane why does the pilot always take over to bring it to the gate?
Often the tiller to steer on the ground is only on the left side.

@@owenfitzpatrick2727 I have landed there as a pax a few times and also seen the long queue on finals, but when you see it from the pilot's perspective, it's amazing. Those ATC guys earn their money.
UK rules don't allow landing clearance to be given until the runway is actually clear to land on. So until the preceding aircraft vacates the runway they can't actually clear you to land unlike elsewhere in the world where you can be cleared as number 2 or even 3
@@dasy2k1 Yep, it is the same here in Australia - I should say was, because I haven't flown for 15 years and dont know the regs.
Normal at all UK Airports. The runway must be vacated before landing clearance is given, it is the safest system.
How old is this video? The cockpit is still full of paper... Or does Icelandair still use paper?
You cannot fully depend on the computer. A good backup system.
