Today’s video is all about Antiplatelet vs Anticoagulant Blood Thinners for Nursing Students and NCLEX Review.
The difference between antiplatelet vs anticoagulant blood thinners is important - if you give the wrong one to a patient, it could be life-threatening.
Antiplatelets work by preventing blood platelets from sticking together and forming clots. Anticoagulants, on the other hand, keep your blood from clotting too much.
Blood thinners are often prescribed for patients with heart problems or other conditions requiring regular monitoring of blood flow throughout the body.

Q
hello Mike , thank you for the video its very informative . I have some doubt ,what if the patient has gone through abdominal surgery and prescribed enoxaparin, which site is good to administer if not around umbilcus or should we change other forms?
Quiz is not free.
😊
For those who are confused (like me☺) about what 'H/H' or 'H & H' means,
it refers to the levels of Hemoglobin (Hb) and Hematocrit (Hct)
Hemoglobin (Hb):
Adult male: 13.5-17.5 grams per deciliter (g/dL)
Adult female: 12.0-15.5 g/dL
Newborn: 14.5-24.5 g/dL
Children: 11.5-15.5 g/dL
Hematocrit (Hct):
Adult male: 38.8%-50.0%
Adult female: 34.9%-44.5%
Newborn: 45%-65%
Children: 35%-45%

Hello, Mike. I discovered your channel from my little brother currently in nursing school. I graduated in 2009 and took the NCLEX for the first time on April 30th this year and I passed because of you. Thank you so much for all that you do! God bless you!
Congratulations, wow inspiring , I failed three times and originally had given up
@@raisinbrand3663 Thank you! There are so many more options for self-review now versus in 2009. Trust the timing!
@@charliecalderon-cardinal3976 hey did you watch all the youtube videos he has for the nclex? I am scheduled for next month and I have already failed and super nervous
@@ashleypollard6682 No, I was sure I did not have enough time to watch them all. I used Saunders 8th edition as my basis on the topics and then watched his videos every after reading. I only watched the lengthy (uncut) videos (summarized).
Thank you, Nurse Mike. As a male, I've been having a difficult time learning nursing, but you have made the topics much easier and even enjoyable to learn. Thank you, sir. If I have some extra money, I would love to subscribe to your mobile app for life. 🥰

what about pts on Pradazia brand name of blood thinner
I just subscribed to this - made this simpler .
do you do frequent blood tests with heparin too? to make sure the PTT is therapeutic
Be sure to join our app for full study guides, videos, and test banks! Simplenursing.com/nursing-school
Yes Armani. Depending on your facility you will continue to check the aPTT level every 4-6hrs while the patient is receiving heparin until the patient is therapeutic, and then it will be drawn daily as long as they are therapeutic. hope this helps!😊
Clinically yes, but not on the exam question, because heparin is usually used "short term" so no need for "frequent" blood tests.
While the video notes PTT range >70 is cause for discontinuation of the heparin drip, we are being taught that therapeutic range can be up to 100. Is this something that is hospital/program specific? Or is this the new magic number for the Next Generation NCLEX?
Helpful video ..thankyou from Nepal😊

I really enjoy your videos over the other RN YT channels. But I do have some constructive criticism. I feel like the organization of the videos could be more structured. For instance, here you bring up the major nursing considerations of blood thinners at the very end of the lecture... it would also be nice if you provided a list of the meds you were going to cover... or even a note page of the disused topics for FREE. Just my suggestions :) anyways, love the content and the graphics.

Just wanna ask if what is d reason why u can’t give enoxaparine/ clexane in thigh part as it’s site for Subcutaneous?coz other patients preferred in thigh part. Just want to know the answer so I can tell them if they ask :) thank you
maybe the blood vessels in the leg are bigger than in the abdomen and could cause a fast absorption rate than desired? I'm not sure myself and would like to hear others educated guess.
The abdomen is generally the subcutaneous injection site with the fastest absorption rate. The arms have an average absorption rate, while the buttocks and thighs have a slower absorption rate.
I'm studying for this so thanks for producing
