    Thanks for sharing! Sorry the engine break-in and the Holley install didn’t go as anticipated. This is very helpful to many of us learning cars.

      Cam break in went well. It didn't flatten, so thats good. Still sorting out the Sniper issues, but its getting there.

    Great videos on the sniper 2300 and 1100! How was the performance difference between the 2300 with 2V conversion compared to your original sniper 1100? Which would you recommend to maximizes performance of the inline 6? Thanks!

      2300 with a 2V head and a cam makes a huge difference.

    Turn on the heater to open the heater control valve to push the air out from the heater core .

      66 Mustang doesn’t have a control valve. It circulates through the core all the time.

    Looking good! Is that a factory sized brake booster, or a smaller unit?

    I enjoy watching your channel. Too bad about the glitch with the Holley system. Hopefully, it's an easy fix. You mentioned previously that Jeff Jones was writing an article on the 2V conversion. Do you know if the article is available?

    I’m interested in the 200 cause my family member has one he said he’ll sell to me.. I wanna get 200-300 hp with a car that is daily drivable. Do you think that’s possible or should I just look for something else? It’s a 1982 mustang GL with an i6. A very very rare bird. You don’t see too many of those anymore. I would like to swap it to a 300 barra type engine, which seems very unlikely to fit… and I feel like just going to a 5.0 might be the better choice, with that said, if I could keep the original 200 in it and get some decent performance out of it, with upgrades to the bottom end and head, I might just want that. I just want a fun little car to zip around in, not a race car like everyone wants these day. I want it to pick up and go if I floor it though, not be a slug compared to modern traffic with its stock 83 hp… which route should I go and do you know what kind of power you’re making on your build?

      200hp at the crank is hard to achieve with a 200 that’s NA. A good 2V conversion on an iron head with a cam will make about 180. I’m making 200 at the crank with an alloy VI head. You can turbo it and easily make 200-300hp though.

    You need to build a little heat before you bring the idle up for break in

    • @mechtrician1
      @mechtrician1  Рік тому

      That is how you kill a flat tappet cam. Do not let it idle and warm up first. You have to immediately bring it up to 2500. Been doing it that way for 25 years without a problem.
      “Perhaps the most important step in the break-in process is to bring the engine immediately up to a minimum of 2,500 rpm or more.”

    Are you running a adapter to a 2bbl or did you machine the log to accept a 2bbl? That could be a lot of the issue with it not running right if its on a adapter

    • @mechtrician1
      @mechtrician1  2 роки тому +1

      There were several updates that happened after this video. It’s machined and brazed to a 2 barrel. Ended up swapping to another head, this one had a defect. Jeff made me another head.

      Large log. You pretty much can’t convert a small log to a true 2V, it doesn’t have enough material.
