normal nowadays. with the backhand you can create more power and faster balls since you can use your bodyrotation, shoulder, underarm and wrist by not lacking any spin
@@Apagnan-f5e yeah. may sound weird in the beginning but if you watch a perfect forehand by ma long or a perfect backhand by, let's take Darko as example since I think his backhand is the most powerful in the world (i know there is Fan but it's a different style), the backhand is more powerful. why? because it's a synergy of the whole body BUT the difference to the forehand is: you can use your shoulder and wrist more. and the wrist can put so much power into the ball. we can see it with the Chinese backhand. they put their thumb nearly 90% onto the rubber (as far as possible) and can create much more power with this than with the normal grip. some Europeans (Darko, Dima, Liam) adapted this but still held to their normal technique and created a super powerful backhand with this. The acceleration at the ball is extremely high
@@TheSunnyHands Although the backhand stroke might be quicker as you can use more wrist action - just like you mentioned - and you need less body mass to move, it is definitely NOT more powerful. It's just raw physics. It takes more time and require more movement, but the power you can generate is bigger. Also, Fatih Egin was right - this is an extremely backhand oriented battle, not a "normal" one. Both Jorgić and Ovtcharov rely on BH much more than most pros. This is also the reason why Dima has always been a tough matchup for Darko, he made it this time though. Good job!
@@mgobio1471 it depends on how you define powerful. for me powerful is a stroke that is hard and fast. and Darkos backhand is both of it, as we could see in this game. Ofc this is an extreme example for a backhand battle, both are backhand orientated players. but still, if you watch professional table tennis you will see that more and more players are backhand orientated
@@allethre it is bad, I mean he missed so many counters and open ups with his forehands especially at the start Darko knows this, because he played backhand from his forehand side and always opened up with his backhand
Insane and great match! So interesting to see how both players try to make points via the forehand area of the opponent. Most services are place into the others forehand area. Also in the counter topspin rallies the points are made through the opponents forehand. Crazy stuff.
My dreams have come true! I've been wondering who backhand is sharper, more powerful and spinnier out of Darko, Liam, Dima and Hugo! Well at least I got 2 out of 4.
@@danieljablecki Wang Chunqin has the fastest, Lin Gaoyuan has the sharpest, Liang Jingkun has the most spin and Fan Zhengdong has the most power, best counter.
Darko obviously has a crazy powerful and versatile backhand. His passive game is very good and is able to extend a lot of points. In this game he barely played forehand and most of the ones he did were from the right of the table, almost around the net. Weird but really impressive style.
Dima's FH counter misfired most of the match and both his BH serve & third ball crosscourt FH attack off the serve were too predictable. Rally of the match 11:39; Darko BH at its finest 7:10; Darko BH power 10:50
Sensational backhand to backhand duel between two of my absolute favorites. Being a backhand dominant player myself this was a genuine delight. Only negative was the terrible birds-eye camera angle that flattens the action, robbing this explosive sport of its dynamics. Even WTT has been serving up better angles of late.
Great match. So many great matches and feelings and atmosphere from this tournament. Let’s say it one more time: we want best of 7 over best of 5. Who came up with the idea of best of 5 for almost all matches in most tournaments today is committing a crime. If there’s no best of 7 in qualifying stages, at least all matches in knockout stages in all kinds of competitions should be BEST of 7
the problem is: there are so many tournaments, if you play bo7 all the time your body wont make this for a long time. bo7 is super exhausting (i can tell since im playing this here on Iceland as well sometimes)
Yes if you remember when ittf had a open there was at least 3 weeks to rest between. Now there could be a tournament the following week. Just like it use to be game to 21 well we have to sacrifice.
✨Great match from both.✨Dima seems to have some concentration holes during the match and let his head viewed to the floor. Please come back stronger....✨✨✨
this match was HILLARIOUS! Both of them with weak Forehand and using IDENTICAL serves and strategy, trying to exploit other guy's weak forehand : ) If one guy did something that worked, the other guy copied it, because he knew his opp has the same weakness : ) That was funny to watch
Might be third person’s view, but it was very apparent right from the beginning and I think Dima should’ve realized Darko has really good forehand defense but weak back hand defense, as well as really strong backhand offense and okayish forehand offense
Whatever happened to Trashcharov. He used to have lightning fast reflexes! Now it seems he wouldn’t catch a turtle, most of those winners weren’t even going fast. Dima was just slow AF
Darko is very skilled but most of his serves were illegal (the ball was hidden for split second by his face and neck on its down after down after the toss.
Более тупой игры Овчарова давно не видел. Вариативности ноль. Все после своей подачи в диагональ топсировать направлений других как будто нет. Концовка вообще дичь. Зажался и ни одного начала не сделал все пасивно, отдал...
