Traveled to Belize over Thanksgiving. I felt completely safe there. In fact, I felt safer there than I EVER feel on the west side of Los Angeles, where I have lived most of my life.
I have to agree 💯!!! I have lots of time in Belize and traveled back and forth since 2001. I have taken all three of my boys there two or three times a year and have driven through Mexico several times. I had a retired neighbor that told me tales of him and his wife driving back and forth after they retired. It was the high light of their lives! I never felt unsafe and the people there were always helpful and we all agree our best times were in Belize!! Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you Michael for telling it like it is. We moved to Belize from the USA last July and we have found no problems with crime around us. We live in the Cayo District and love the people here; the people are very friendly here. Like you have said, crime goes on all around the world. We feel safer and more free here. Thanks again for telling everybody the truth. Happy 2025 to you and your beautiful wife.

There is definitely lots of room for improvement, like government corruption, terrible highways, terrible drivers, incredibly high import costs. But overall still great. Much less government oversight, more freedom to farm or start a business, etc.
When I come to Belize (which is like 6+ times a year) I meet new ppl half the time and hang with them all night at their place or mine. For instance; one time in Belmopan I stopped and asked some brethrens on the street for directions. We ended up hanging out all night at their house eating and drinking. also got involved in a lil fun with other belizeans... Was coming from the airport with all my luggage,; top shelf liquor on the car back seat floor.; also looking traveler fresh with watch and Gucci on. Not one thing stolen or even asked for. On top of that I felt like my brethrens were treating me like family and nobody else could touch me or they would have a problem with them. This was not a 1 off experience. I can tell you countless situations like this. I am Jamaican so that does make alot of difference. Very similar culture. I wouldn't go that in J.A.

I'm in San Ignacio and I feel so safer than in Florida. Belizeans are the kindest people I've ever met. I'm angry the State department keeps doing this too. I have friends who depend on the tourists to live and have jobs. The ambassador needs to work harder on this issue. Most people probably aren't checking those warnings but I know it's hurting tourism on some level. I'm so happy to be out of there.
It hurts the Belize Tourism, specially after Covid. I was surprised how low the hotels and AirBnBs are booked over 2024 Holidays. I am in my 3rd month here in Belize and all I found is friendly, happy Belizeans.
Tourism is down BC alot of ppl are broke and laid off. Most tourist in Belize come from USA and Canada. Hundreds of thousands of layoffs happened in the US last year. J\Happy New Year; hopefully.
Belize is safe I think they realize that people are coming in abundance from US to retire and to purchase land so it's the best way to keep them there if they only how good Belize is they would leave in a heartbeat. Welcome to paradise❤
I can watch American true crime shows every day all day until I die and will never get through all of them……Forensics, 48 hours, 60 minutes, FBI files…….the list goes on and on…
I think the reporter just hit the nail on the head, the belize position on the Israeli/ Palestinian issue has a lot to do with these reports, Israel has a big influence here.
I have served my country (America) my entire career and am now retired. America is a brand and history has shown that the United States has kept its citizens in the dark about countries like Belize, where freedom actually exists. I agree with Michael, do your research and you will see right through the fear mongering by the State Department.
@ no worries, been watching from the beginning. We will be carrying our YT channel from here in Portugal to Belize. We got an offer on the house we reno’d here. So we are hoping to be down in Belize around aprilish, have some paperwork to get done in Canada first. Hope you guys had a great NYE.
