I love your get up and go attitude. I don't know what type of lawn and gardening equipment you have, but working on a blank slate is way more organized and will give you better results and less work down the road. After 50 plus years gardening take my word on that. Clear out all that over growth within 10 feet of your growing area. All that foliage dies is takes away water and nutrient you want for your plants. Always have that border between garden beds and natural lawn settings. I use my goats to keep my area around the property clean and clear year round. Winter time they get pampered unless they are slated to be the main guest in the meat freezer. 4th generation farmer.

Great advice, I'm working on it. I definitely plan to do a nice border around the garden. It's year 2 on our new homestead so the garden space was used last year but the weeds came in like crazy and that's after multiple layers of wood chips. I decided to go with woven weed fabric this year. That's coming in the next video.
