People drastically overestimate the capacity of exercise to burn calories in the amount necessary to lose significant weight in a timely fashion. (Like how many people think walking a paltry amount of miles a week will make a substantial difference. It helps, but not nearly as much as people assume.)
It depends what you mean by "diet". If your definition of diet is - you use more calories in a day than you consume - then, yes, diets work. For every other definition of diet, then, no, diets don't work.
The only diet that worked for me was a low carb diet. I was unable to exercise due to chronic pain but in the first 2 months i lost 40 pounds and then with the help of a high dose fentanyl patch i was able to walk 5 miles a day to tone my body. Low carb really works and it's not about calories, fat, or portion size. No cereal, bread, pasta, no huge amounts of fruits, and watching carb content. I did drink soda and iced tea with regular sugar in it but at small amounts.
One thing I have found that works for me is grazing all day. My stomach has shrunk down from it's Americanized stretched state and I get full will much less food. I typically don't feel good after eating until I'm full. I don't eat more than before. I just eat less more often, and snack a lot. I'll take 3 to 4 hours just eating a normal dinner, without bad carbs. I try to snack on nuts, but sometimes I'll eat one dinner roll or the 100 calorie box of cereal alone. I'd like you to address how grazing works and what studies show. I'd also like you to do a show on LDL's and what influences your organs to make LDL's instead of HDL's. I'm interested in how insulin affects this balance. My unscientific, uninformed thinking about Atkin's diet is by avioding carbs as much as possible, you don't get an insulin rush, and insulin not only triggers the collection of LDL's and putting it into fat cells, but it probably also triggers your organs to manufacture LDL's. Insulin is like a panic button. I'm probably misinformed. Looking forward to getting good info.
It's interesting, in theory that all seems so right from everything I've learned. But in practice, many carnivores have super duper high LDL and those eating high, healthy carbs have amazing lipid profiles. So I guess our bodies are just more complicated
Separate the data by age, neurosis, geographic location. E.g., the ingredients of a keto diet varies greatly depending on the food source and who is choosing.
Diets don't work. I finally upped my protein to 1g per lb I weigh, started strength training to build muscle and up my metabolism & counting calories. I switch between fat loss caloric deficit and maintenence calories. This how I live now.
No that's not how it works. I have hypothyroidism so my weight can go up and down without warning. People seem to count calories and the amount of food they eat but when I was 185 pounds my Dr told me to stay away from a lot of carbs and I lost 55 pounds in 2 and a half months. I couldn't do a lot of exercise so I walked. Carbs are the enemy, not calories, fat or portion size
@@drkmwinters it works for me. Paired with lots of exercise and a balanced diet I daresay it works for those 99% of overweight people who can't hide behind the "but I'm sick" excuse. Plus a measure of self discipline never hurt anyone.
Yes it is how it works! You have a health condition that affects how your body uses energy, but for the majority of humanity it is simple: eat less and move more
Of course ! So your stomach shrinks and your metabolism slows down to a normal rate and yet still, to lose weight you need to eat less. Someone who is very overweight could probably go months of not eating as the body has so much energy (fat) to consume. Just be careful of re feeding g syndrome

Could we have some honest reporting about recent victories for the American people in particularly the Florida governor DeSantis. Remember the dust up about the greedy, Disney corporation, wanting to be their own government entity, and deciding how many and how much taxes they would pay. The Florida governor took issue with us, and now it would appear that he has one of the argument. The greedy Disney corporation has capitulated. A court has also sided with the Florida governor concerning flights of illegal foreign nationals into sanctuary cities in particularly Martha’s Vineyard. It would appear that Governor DeSantis has won that battle also.

This is all nonsense. There is only 1 diet - you use more calories in a day than you consume. Everything else isn't a diet.
@@thomasdequincey5811 you are wrong and I am forced to block you for spreading misinformation. Get an education. Bye
They are right. As long as you use up more energy than you consume, you will lose weight. There is no magic formula.
I lost a total of 18 kg / 39 lbs by eating OMAD which broke down as, 60% fat and 20% coming from Carbs and Protein.

If diets "don't work" how do people lose weight?
NOTE: If you are not using more calories in a day than you consume, YOU ARE NOT ON A DIET!
Hara Hachi Bu :)
Been doing this all my life
we should get vaccinated instead of dieting..
OMG! Just eat less, it's not rocket science!

That won't work. The body reduces metabolism to adjust for fewer calories.

He went after Disney because they don't hate trans and gay people. It had nothing to do with taxes.
