1970 when I first saw this Christmas 🎄Carol by Albert Finney,I was 6 years old and I love it.
This is my favorite version, every year I see it and it moves me to tears, and this year I turned 69!
“Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me!”
Definitely my favorite Ebenezer- especially as Albert Finney is both old & young Ebenezer!
Have you seen the version with George C. Scott???
@@kokovaleto I have- and he's great! But this one combined with Loesser's music is my favorite!
Albert Finney stars in a series called “ uncle Silas “ where he really is now an old man! Old and plump but still a lady chaser.
Lovely production.
Good to see it again, 53 years later!
Thanks.
Thank you! I've now seen 4 versions of this tale, and this is the only one that shows Scrooge coming to experience his eternal destiny. This is my favorite Christmas movie, and what a version this turned out to be!
I like the Minister’s Cat game!
I grew up with this version, it’s my favorite ❤️
I've read and reread A Christmas Carol and I think this is one of the finest versions put to screen. Yes it's true that it isn't a word for word, scene for scene by the book portrayal but what it is, so close to what Dickens' was trying to make people see. The songs are wonderful, the costume well designed. I have different copies of this and am glad to watch it a couple times a year. Happy that others gat as much joy from it as I do.
it is not a Christmas Carol though they even change the name because it was rewritten… I find it disrespectful of Charles Dickens… And Dickens told and portrayed the image of what he wanted people to see… He wanted people to use their own imaginations so they would understand it better…… It was more personal when he told it the way he told it instead of turning it into a show like this… If you want Hollywood this is it…
Every Christmas, I watch every version of a Christmas Carol . My favorite Christmas movie aside from the Nativity. ❤
Have you seen the version with George C. Scott???
@@kokovaleto yes .
@@chessyharris6200 George C. Scott for sure is the best actor for this role.
I do same as many as possible even the cartons like the Flintstones Chris Carol lol the 50s version with Alister is my favorite
nothing beats the muppets

😂
The best ever, Albert Finney...RIP Sir...🌲🌲🌲
Albert Finney was a great Eboneezer Scrooge.
I love in this version that Marley takes Scrooge to Hell after the Ghost of Christmases to come is done with him I thought that was an excellent addition
First time seeing this and enjoying every minute thanks
RIP, Albert Finney❤❤❤❤😢❤
This one is my favorite! This one he goes to hell. This version is absolutely fantastic! The transformation to young and old Albert Finney was amazing!
The VOLUME goes off after tiny tim and his sister are met by the dad, and he talks about having 15 shillings in his pocket.
My absolute favorite Christmas movie for my entire life! A family favorite and yes we know all the songs by heart and now the grandkids do as well!
An absolute must on Christmas eve every year! Thank you for positing it! Happy New Year to all!💚🎄
Likewise!
My favorite version of A Christmas Carol.
What a shame so much dialogue is lost when the sound cuts out because this is such a great movie. ☹
My favourite version…thank you very much.. that’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me!
My fav Christmas movie 🎄✨
Mine, too!
I like watching all the different versions of A Christmas Carol. Over christmas
(It's so Christmasesy).
My number one
is this one 1970, then Alistair SIMs version, 1951, then George C. Scott 1984.
Then the muppet's Christmas Carol.1992 Which is now all free on UA-cam. HAPPY DAYS
I like the word "free" 🇬🇧
Iconic in UK 🇬🇧 every year watching this adorable festive Christmas film a tradition!! guessing other countries too! Albert Finney one of the best and most memorable Ebenezer Scrooge characters ever!! Have to add i adore Charles Dickens and all his works Xxxx UK 🇬🇧 😊
Based on wage inflation, Bob Cratchit's salary of 15 shillings per week translates to around $43,000 per year, or $14.20 per hour with the standard 60-hour workweek of his time. So it's true that he would have made more than the federal minimum wage. However, he was not "destitute" for his time, experts told USA TODAY.
Considering his number of dependents & that he was the sole provider, that’s barely making it.
Such an awesome Christmas Carol. Love it.
“Come over here, you weird little man!”
From the Ghost of Christmas Present
Lol😂
Are we supposed to lipread through this movie???
It’s been a couple years since they played this movie on Turner classic movies for the holidays. I don’t understand why they stop showing it for the holidays. I hope show it in December.
I 2nd your thought
They would cut the ending scene when Scrooge would go down under to face his fate not until years later did I get to see the entire film absolutely wonderful film great acting and singing

私の最も好きなクリスマスムービー。
毎年、円盤で見ています。
ただ、これ、映像が凄くきれいなんですが、修正版出てるんでしょうか?
Anyone else notice there is no sound about 5mins in to movie? It comes back later...
Me too!
Yes I did.
Yes - I wonder if it was concerning copyright sounds. They seem to be when the soundtrack music starts.
Sound goes out.
Another movie has been uploaded and over layed onto this one. Too bad. Albert Finney, one of my favorite actors.
I saw this at the movie's in 1969. I was seven. I love this version the most. Good memories.
Film was released in December 1970🎄🎅🎁
😂
I enjoyed this version.
Why do you cut the opening credits off of the movies you show? It makes it hard to know the title etc.
so they cant get done for copyright ive reported them dont worry

I was about 10 years old when I first saw Stooges
🎉
What do the three stooges have to do with this?
it's "SCROOGE", actually!!! -- "for the grace of accuracy"...
@@fabiengerard8142
Scrooge's chain was very big. But that was not cash boxes and keys like Marley's chains.
God save you
Ronald Neame's great "Scrooge" ! 🤗
Thought that was Charlie Mullins in the thumbnail, you will not change that old skinflint 😂😂😂
This is so wonderfully done, I can hardly stand it! ☺️🥹
And all the music is beautiful and meaningful! 🥰
Where the bell ringers are round the corner as Scrooge and his friends appear, the music is wonderfully heart stopping.
This man over here doing the crab @1:40:37
This one is really fun and loving however, I thought it was pretty rough to sing a song about his death…..I think that’s poorly done
Oddly, that's what I most remembered about this film when I saw it as a kid.
I'd look for it over the years, but it was never on TV, and not available on DVD. I like Albert Finney, so thought I'd like to own it.
Just this year I finally watched it on a streaming service I had not previously been subscribed to.
It's an overall good adaptation, but musicals need to be careful. Still, "Thank You Very Much" is still the one thing most memorable about it, and can be used for anything out of context of his death.
Sound out for composers copyrights

He wrote the books including 'The Christmas Carol' the late and great Charles Dickens. Decrease the surpass population including evilest wealthy Tories.
He also wrote Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, The Highwayman, and A Tale of Two Cities.
And how wealthy is your boy Tony Blair? How many properties does he own? He's a multi millionaire many times over. It's the whole political class my friend. The thief keeps you looking elsewhere while he steals everything you have. Take a red pill my friend
God the accents. Even singing it’s hard on the ears.
Bah Humbug.
Whoever made this, how do you not know that the sound cuts out?? 👎
"A UA-cammas Carol"
Written by Marc Se7en
NEPHEW: "Merry UA-cammas, Uncle Scrooge!"
SCROOGE: "UA-cammas? Bah humbug!"
NEPHEW: "UA-cammas a humbug? You can't mean it, Uncle Scrooge?"
SCROOGE: "But I do mean it, Nephew! If I had my way, every troll who went around commenting on UA-cammas, would be boiled with their own Smartphone, and buried with a USB cable through their heart!"
SALESMAN: "Do I have the pleasure of addressing Mr. Scrooge, or Mr. Marley?"
SCROOGE: "Mr. Marley has been dead these Se7en years! He died Se7en years ago this very night!"
SALESMAN: "At this time of year, cheap broadband is abundant, and the need for fast Internet is keenly felt! May we put you down for fibre broadband at three shillings per month?"
SCROOGE: "What of dial-up? Has something occurred to stop it in its useful purpose?"
SALESMAN: "Many people would rather die, than use dial-up!"
SCROOGE: "If they would rather die than dial-up, then they had better do so, and increase the surplus dial-up bandwidth! Good day to you!"
Merry 🎄 UA-cammas One And All 🤣
Charles Dickens himself stayed at "The Royal Kings Arms Hotel" here in Lancaster (circa 1870), opposite my flat / apartment! ... I'd loved to have met the great man!
