This one's a bit of a porker at a shade over 9 lbs and clearly made before they thought of 9 hole weight relief. Quality guitar made toward the end of Gibson's 'good wood' era.
Hi Chit and thanks :-) Yes, it's a bit of a timewarp one. Have you seen the Gibson catalogue prices recently? Best part of £2k for a Modern Studiothese days. They've stopped making the high gloss finish for some reason. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Gary, I agree with you 100% my next guitar will most likely be my last so it's got to be a LP Studio what more could I need to grow old disgracefully with. This one certainly sounds great and is a handsome beast. The weight wouldn't bother me at all, my gigging days are long gone, I can't remember the last time I played standing up.
Hi Rod :-) I remember selling a guy a nice Tangerine Burst once. He'd only just started learning to play and I remarked it was a bold purchase for a newbie. He said his philosophy was "buy once, buy well". Every credit. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Pete and thanks :-) If I was only ever allowed one guitar (actually, I'm feeling a bit queasy even thinking about that) a Studio would be it. I like the pickups and I'd have one over a Standard because, weirdly, I'm not keen on binding. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Chris :-) They're terrific guitars but this year something has changed regarding their traditional paint finishes. I'll go into more detail next time I review one. Cheers, Gary :-)
i think exactly the same Black Studio i used to own and first Lespaul i ever owned had it without the pickguard which always thouht it looked more Metal without it since the guitar was black traded only to get my Black Beauty Les paul custom one of my personal dearest Guitar of all time, a complete Gothic Dream well also love my SGs too since i am huge Black sabbath Doommetal type of guy
One of my favourite albums of all time was Sabotage so I completely get where you're coming from and one of my favourite SG's was the Voodoo with the cool pink and black bobbins that I reviewed one Halloween!
Hi Gary, I have to. Wholeheartedly, agree, with Everyone Else here Mate. 100%. Nice condition,Cheers Mick 😊. Bit late in replying. Hitman, after me, when trying to Vote!😮
Hi Mick :-) Hahahahahaha, when I went in to vote I was the only one there! Yes, it's in lovely nick, this one - I didn't want to give it back hahahahaha. Cheers, Gary v:-)
Nice demo Mr Fox. its in great condition for its age as you said. I agree with you, these will only ever increase in value over time.

Got a lovely tone, great review very thorough.
Good playing too, great job.
Thanks Gary

That's a nicely broken in guitar Gary. Never had a Studio, but I wouldn't mind picking one up if the right one surfaced for me.

Hi Ah Yes :-) Hopefully we'll have something pointier at the weekend! Cheers, Gary :-)
@@FoxysGuitarShow I was actually wondering how often bandmates get accidentally stabbed by pointy headstocks😄.
Mine is a '93
Hi Franco :-) Wow, that's an early one and right at the start of the 'good wood era'. Cheers, Gary :-)
