I wouldn’t hold off on seeing Furiosa in the theater if I was you. I saw it a few days ago and had an absolute blast. You’re not going to feel your chair rumbling at home like anyone who sees it in a theater that’s for sure. This is 1000% the kind of movie that demands to be seen on a big screen and reminds you of why you love going to a theater again. This was money well spent. I will most likely go see it again to further support the film.
I fully agree my seat was rumbling during The Cranky Black car chase in the end scene. I seen it in IMAX & Dolby Cinema and both experiences were absolutely stunning. I agree getting to see it in theaters on The Big Screen was the best experience with viewing this for sure. Seen it twice and was hoping for a third time but it was no longer available in IMAX or Dolby so i had to pass.
Furiosa bombing legit depresses me. Been anticipating it for a long time now, freaking loved it, and the fact that we probably won't get another one now really stings
Blazing Saddles coming to 4K is a huge deal, a comedy classic that deserves a release in the best format possible. This makes me so happy! Buy this one please fellow collectors and it’s a movie that is very much against being racist. Meh Mad Max is what it is, I’ll wait for home release and stop calling The Road Warrior Mad Max 2!
I’m with you Ken. We need standard slipcover 4k editions that have all the features. I prefer simple packaging and agree that franchises that have some steelbook and some standard editions are maddening in the collection. I like uniformity in my collection.
The Italian Job is a really important movie in the UK. It has such a reach into UK culture that when I was a kid in the 90s and someone got kicked out of class for misbehaving, he was humming "the self preservation society" on his way out... hahaha
I’ve pretty much stopped going to the theaters. It has a lot to do with my location tho. I’m in my 40’s-knocking on 50, and I hate spending money for a ticket when parents are not controlling their kids while they’re either on the phone or talking out-loud to whomever they drug to the movies with them. People have lost respect for others at least in my area. If I lived in a big city, I’d most likely go to IMAX where people actually pay to relax and enjoy the movies. Regular theaters are nothing more than a zoo anymore
Some good releases here, Ken. Btw, I was on Ebay earlier today and saw the new steelbook editions of Jaws 3 and Jaws 4. It's the same kind of artwork as Jaws 2, the shark's perspective. No amazon website info. on those yet. Got Rocky V and Balboa steelbooks pre-ordered. I do have the previous 4 already released.
You gotta see Furiosa in the biggest theater possible if you can! George Miller worked really hard to make this a premium theater experience and it shows, especially with the sound design. We don’t get films like this everyday, especially of this scale, so I would strongly encourage making the time for this one out of everything else that’s coming out this year.
Warner Bros did a lovely digipack bluray for Amadeus with the directors cut it included a glossy booklet and a cd of the Soundtrack. I’d expect a similar treatment on 4k.
Warners is broke. I doubt they’ll do all of that again. I hope they do, but I don’t see them spending that on a movie 40 years old relegated to selling small numbers.
I hope the Atmos placement for the fart scene engulfs the viewer! I'm excited for the complete Rocky collection. I nearly bought the 4 film collection, as in had it in a cart and decided to sleep on it. Woke up the next day to find a complete set was coming! I do hope we finally get Amadeus on 4K. I love that film and should look and sound great on the 4K format. Fun fact, Tom Hulce also plays Quasimodo in Disney's the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Spoiler, he knocks that one out of the park as well.
I reach out to WB and they said you have to send the Rocky disc back to them First before they will replace your defective disc which I think very Shaddy .

I'm super excited to see the confirmation that Blazing Saddles is getting a 4K release. I hope there's a standard edition as I don't necessarily need the poster, the art cards and all the other stuff. The remastered disc is what matters to me.
I love both Amadeus and Blazing Saddles and need both of them on 4k. They both would look outstanding in the format. I also want Furiousa, but that can wait a bit (ok, I really like Anya-Taylor Joy and have since I saw her in Split.). OMG, my wife and I love Michael Caine, so we will also be getting The Italian Job on 4k. As far as pre-orders, I've got Twister, Purple Rain and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The musical features a great cast and some wonderful songs and a dancing Bob Fosse and Carol Hainey in the chorus. !0 Things I Hate About You, however, is based on the original Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet.

I watched Furiosa yesterday & it was very good. Damn those box office numbers. I remember when box office numbers were not the norm. It was afterthought while the movie(s) was getting public acclaim either by theater or physical after. I'm waiting on Search for Spock 4k sb from Walmart and Batman 4k sb from Amazon. I think once Search for Spock sells, then the remaining 5 will be sb bound.

Furiosa: I'm glad I saw it in IMAX-AMC. I loved Fury Road. Furiosa backfills the story (prequel) and leads right up to the start of Fury Road. I say: "See Furiosa in the theater and then come home and watch Fury Road." The 2 Films fit nicely together. rottentomatoes = 90% (Audience + critics agree)
I enjoyed Furiosa a lot but goddamn what happened to Junkie XLs score??? The guy barely tried with this film. The score for Fury was intense. Imagine Zimmer chilling out at 20% for The Dark Knight after Batman Begins lol. None of the sweeping drum beat war themes were alive in it and just when you think he's gonna crank them up they drop. A lot of the action didn't even have music at all. Just so confusing because I'd rank Fury Road as one of the best action film scores and a good example of the power of music in film.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but my favorite Mad Max is Thunderdome. That “two men enter, one man leaves” stuff with Master Blaster and Tina Turner was awesome. Also, Tina Turner’s “We Don't Need Another Hero”.
Definitely unpopular. I have a soft spot for it bc it was the first I’ve ever seen. I’ve said the best mad max is the first half of thunderdome. All the stuff involving thunderdome is cool but it does fall off a bit. Nowadays I kinda prefer the first film. It’s before Mel is just playing Clint Eastwoods man with no name

Richard Pryor contributed to the Blazing Saddles screenplay. Considering he would later co-star four times with Gene Wilder, It makes me think he was considered to play Sheriff Bart. But I’ve never seen that documented. As much as I think Cleavon Little is perfect, I can’t help wondering what it would be like with Pryor in that role.
Why wouldn't WB do the deluxe set in the US too? Would that be the same for North by Northwest? I thought Amadeus was getting released by Criterion???? Now we need Young Frankenstein on 4K and we'll have Brooks' top 3 films. Furiosa was quite good, but you could really feel the run time on it. I don't think I would buy it. In fact, Fury Road is the only Mad Max movie I really feel the need to own even though I haven't watched it in like 7 years.

I think you shouldn’t let the box office decide if you go to a film in theatres or not. Watch the trailer, if it’s for you then check it out! If it’s not then it’s not and don’t go. But the theatres are dying from this mentality of “It’ll be out on streaming soon anyways so what’s the point on going” my reply to that is some films like Furiosa and Dune part 2 deserve to be seen on the biggest screen due to the sheer sound and visuals to experience the movie fully.
I refuse to let anyone put the blame on me for movies failing at the box office. I’m just playing by their rules and it’s my job as the consumer to do what works for me the best. It’s up to them to create an experience that I feel is worth my time and money to come out for.
All the star trek films should be in 4k not just the odd one here and there even the new remaster of the motion picture should of been made as a 4k steelbook when i came out on release
In regards to the blazing saddle controversy, I remember reading an article talking about this. Unless I’m mistaken the movie was taken to Richard Pryor to get his and he didn’t have a problem with it.

If Furiosa cost $160 million to produce, advertising was at least that much again, which means the studio needs to clear about $320 million before they see any profit. And that doesn't even count the theaters' cut.
I did it the other way, ordering the slip of Frozen Kingdom instead of the steel because I have a slip of the previous film (also Frozen's slip has better artwork)
I'm all for putting out comedies in 4k, but... In and Out? I'm all for Blazing Saddles (which is coming to 4k) and Caddyshack to come out in 4k. Ken doesn't have that movie on any other format because it wasn't that popular. Why not upgrade A Fish Called Wanda? It's a Kevin Kline movie that people would want to see.
Dude, we all know the price we pay as collectors. Rocky releases with slips will come. Same with Steelies. Control your urges for the Boxset. Wait for the slipcover releases you want. It’s that simple.

I saw Furiosa on Friday afternoon in IMAX around 4:30. I think it’s gonna flop hard because there was only 4 other people in the auditorium

All the star trek films should be in 4k not just the odd one here and there even the new remaster of the motion picture should of been made as a 4k steelbook when i came out on release

In regards to the blazing saddle controversy, I remember reading an article talking about this. Unless I’m mistaken the movie was taken to Richard Pryor to get his and he didn’t have a problem with it.

If Furiosa cost $160 million to produce, advertising was at least that much again, which means the studio needs to clear about $320 million before they see any profit. And that doesn't even count the theaters' cut.

I did it the other way, ordering the slip of Frozen Kingdom instead of the steel because I have a slip of the previous film (also Frozen's slip has better artwork)
I’m surprised Furiosa is consider a bomb. Looks good to me and one of the few films I’m tempted to see at the cinema.
Just box office wise. The people that saw it seemed to really enjoy it.
Amadeus is a must buy for me. I have the digibook with the CD.....so packaging swap the disc I guess.
