I have 2013 wildcat 1000 and I believe this happened to me today. At first I thought it was the clutch belt or bearings in the transmission but every video I watch has the machine running, mine does not run/start it cranks ugly and it made that grinding/knocking noise when I went to give some aggressive throttle while driving about 30 mph so I shut it off immediately.
I dealing with this now broke my case side boss so taking to my shop to get new one welded in and a reinforcement plate welded in also but you said one way is what’s caused this issue I understand and you would think that’s the culprit but I sat there spinning one way thousand times it’s working as it should so how’s it allowing this to happen
I do not, but Country Cat just emailed they're back in stock. But reinforce your cases. If you don't, you're better off getting the original one. Not worth breaking a case, in my opinion
@@motorman9 yep experience talking broke my stator cover boss first now I got plates welded in to fix that now pulling engine out to have plate welded on other side what a shit show thanks artic cat y’all really shit heads for not correct main issue
The kit comes with both the starter and gear. The updated starter has a course gear so it has to have a different driven gear to mate with.

Not an easy or cheap fix, unfortunately. Best to do the prevention maintenance
@motorman9 good vid tho, thanks to you!
You also need to change the one way Bearing that’s what takes out the gear
