I was worried when oil was shown in the reveal trailer. I was worried that frostpunk would move away from steampunk. But then I realised that frostpunks world actually changes and evolves in a natural way. One more reason to love this franchise. It is truly something special.

the steam cylinders need rubber seals , and during industrial revolution the demand for rubber was insatiable , only makes sense that they would need it sooner or later , i never liked games like the Anno Series because people start wanting like 50 resources to just exist in your city and i am happy they are not going in this direction ,oil being a source both of fuel and many byproducts is cool and in theme of the needs of a steampunk city , i do think giving only a handful of resources you need to manage , including spending the happiness of your people when needed is what made the first game choices and consequences feel good

Makes sense that a steampunk society would eventually turn into a dieselpunk one. Why would people who are that desperate for heat and fuel continue to only coal?

As someone who has beaten survivor difficulty people are meant to die and nothing is better than that first game of new hope

This was good, you had clear points.
The only things missing was more bridging examples and perhaps 1minute more of explaining how Frostpunk 2 builds upon the dystopian rebuilding of what once was versus what is. Good job otherwise, short and concise.
    Have a nice day.

Indeed! There is no point in making game just as the last one; themes of Frostpunk 2 are evolution of Frostpunk 1, not their repeat. It is not just about surviving anymore, but it doesn't take away the challenge. Balance factions to keep the peace, or disregard one of them and deal with consequences. This is gonna be fun.

It is True that the franchise moving forward from the small scale society focus seen in FP1 to the large scale society focus is probably the best course of action, but I will miss the feeling of a micro managing a small group of people struggling to survive at whatever cost

In Frostpunk 1 they had to survive the cold / storm. In Frostpunk 2 they had to survive what they've become after the storm

played over 2000hrs fp1... i'm not a fan of fp2, i played the beta/demo and now when you run the game, 1s is equal 1week, the touch to the people is gone and its more of a democracy manager now.. i know i'm almost alone with this opinion

Search "look how they massacred my boy" at fp2's steam forums. You'll be surprised.

I agree, love fp1 and played the beta foe the sequel. The gameplay lacked in so many ways that fp1, absolutely a democracy manager, however, I think that's the point "deep horizons" is trying to make, 11 bit studios is taking a completely new approach to a dystopian city builder to create better narrative. I still have high hopes and will end up playing the shit out of the second one haha.

Did you want the same exact game again? After the city’s survival of the great storm, it’s only natural for the city to grow. Which leads to trying to keep society alive. The scale is bigger, it’s not just about survival.

I suppose, just like Darkest Dungeon 1 Vs 2, it's just... different. Whether it's too different to enjoy is personal to each of us. But I'm also skeptical about the Civilization vibes of it

Agreed. Watching people play it im trying to force myself to like it but i can’t . Doesn’t Seem as interesting as fs1 for me but i can see why others like this direction in the first game:I loved seeing my people, I loved the time structure, I loved the building, every death was meaningful. 1sec=1week just sucks man. It’s a completely different style

It’s not as thrilling as the first one. Instead, it feels like you’re there to establish a new region and enact new laws, a democracy simulation. You should feel the weight of the risks you’ve taken. Mod may save this game but it wont be as famous as the FP1.

    • @MattRebel-s9f

It’s realistic though. As a leader of over tens or even hundreds of thousands of people it’s impossible to connect to all of them. 11 bit did delay the game to add some more features that will add more of a connection though with the “zoom stories” and law consequences but the point of the sequel is that people are getting to comfortable and want the luxuries pre frost. Whiteouts and storms are frequent but the city has already survived

the demo was easy on purpose , the developers in a interview said they want to crush players power fantasy , and that thegame will be as hardcore as the first one and involve even harder choices and branching paths , we know 0 about the story , and they will start out the cmapaign slower than the demo , the demo wasfast paced so people could try out more things about the midgame feel

@@MrRafagigapr even on hard difficulty in the beta I felt the same break neck difficulty managing faction promises and making the difficult decisions of choosing to build another logistic district instead of a food district when there was already a famine
