i actually thought this was babinski's best guitar work, despite that lack of overdriven parts. the cleans are great.
+Blake McConnell that's fair, for me it was just a lack of variety that put me off. I will say tho, I love his playing in heaven and half
yeah he's great on those tracks but on a lot of the others, he's a ghost and his parts are nonexistent. i definitely have an issue with that hah
I appreciate your honesty with how you feel about this album. Even though I really like the record as a whole, certain songs do sound the same to me, and I think they went a bit overboard on the use of synths and electronic sounds. Great review!
honestly, I don't see why there should be hate. it is your opinion, and you have every right in the world to express it. people are allowed to disagree, but not by cursing and hating. I appreciate your opinion and sticking up to your true voice, personally I really liked the album. sure, it is different from White Noise for some points you came up with in your video, but I still find their progression really great and unique. xx
Considering the album just dropped Friday, there's hardly been enough time to give each song a proper listen and allow things to "grow on you". I can't count how many songs (even of bands that I CULT LOVE) that didn't do much for me in the beginning, but after a few more listens, sunk right into me. It sometimes stretches and grew what I knew to "love" of music and challenged my ideas of what makes a song "good". Just saying, give each song some time, read the lyrics, delve into what shes saying. Music is only half hearing.
(Also, I recently heard them referred to as "indie pop" if that helps at all🤷🏼♀️)
Considering I got this album a week early and listened to it for hours upon hours to construct my review, I stand by everything I have said.
I completely agree. These were my exact feelings going into the release of the album, having listened to all of the singles leading up to it. Honestly, I haven't even been able to bring myself to listen to the record as a whole yet because of how disappointed I've been so far.
3.5/5 or 4 for me.
What's Wrong is still a song I love for me one if the best.
I hope you'll review Adelitas Way coming October as well they deserve a listen trust me this Notorious album is gonna be amazing. :)
Coming in clutch!
I'm always going to support PVRIS, but I agree with a lot of what you're saying. This record was not what I expected, but I may need to give it a few more listens. As always, great review.
Heaven- It’s a really good song tbf. Also very catchy.
Half- It took me ages to like this. But, to be honest it’s overall a good song but i feel like that it’s missing something.
Anyone Else- I really liked this and it’s so catchy.
What’s wrong- I love this sm and i like the lyrics as well.
Walk alone- I’m not a big fan of this song but it’s meh and i hope it will grow on me.
Same soul- I really like this tbh. I have nothing else to say
Winter- one of my favourites off the album and i love the chorus and the sound in this song. Overall a great song
No Mercy- I really like this song. It’s one of my favourites again.
Separate- A very emotional one. I actually have a love hate relationship with this song. Although it’s a good song and it’s actually alright.
Nola 1- I lowkey like this. It’s a very underrated song.
Overall opinion- This record took a while to grow on me. Although, it’s a very good record, not as good as white noise. But, i still like it.
Rating 4/5
Heyyy I was wondering if you were going to review the new Brand New album? I can't remember if you were into them or not, so I figured I'd just ask.
I do agree that all the songs sound similar, but I also think that this album is one of the best I've ever heard. White Noise was good, but wayyyyyyyyyy more pop-y to the point where I'm really surprised to hear you say you think AWKOHAWNOH was more pop-influenced. Every single song is super catchy with such beautiful lyrics and wicked instrumentals. Also, seeing them live, it was unreal how amazing the band was, especially the drums.
I really like the new album. Not as much as White Noise but I still liked it a lot.
Are you reviewing qotsa?
Not everyone likes Pop Rock. I can see where your coming from though & I respect your opinion. I like this album, but even I have to admit that White Noise is just better.
Well I disagree with you
Well I respectively disagree, I LOVE this album!! Not as much as White Noise but close!!!
So is it worth listing too?
Yeah. I personally think it's a great album.
please do it's amazing like honestly the lyrics are so deep
I like London better
They're a POP ROCK band that lean heavily in the pop direction... So bitching about the lack of guitars is hilarious
