the secret auto level was a good idea but one of the best secret auto levels was a while ago and I feel like this is just something on the checklist to try if it seems abnormally difficult

Great to see more garbo! I got the first clear on Paindrops Going Dark btw, skipping it was a good call imo bc I think it took me over 100 attempts (and I’m an experienced garbo admiral who’s made spam worse than this). At 24:52 you mentioned you’d like to see a winning clear bc there’s some strategy, and while I didn’t record it, I basically did what you were doing on the left until I got all 10 from that pipe, then went to the pipe on the right and got all 10 there, then waited for the ones in the middle bc there’s stuff in the stage that can take them out for you. Shellmet dispenser in the middle is also super jank and repeatedly stopped working for some reason, so I think that’s also how the creator uploaded it as well. Also had a pattern I jumped in at the beginning to keep the magikoopas from eating the fire flower like Dan was talking about, but it didnt work that well lol. Level was actually pretty fun, enjoyed playing it!

Its unfortunate that we live in a world where the pressure to perform is so great that it really does drive people to get people to rush things or make mistakes. Academia and Industry both have the same issues. Its easy to say money is the problem, but scientists also need money to do the things they do. I feel like there are better resources to manage anxiety and stress than there were even only 10 years ago, but we have a long way to go.

I'm 35 next month, the rest of the video kept me entertained, the end is just so relatable that it put me in a better mood at my core. I weave in and out of watching your videos like I do with most things in life, sometimes to my own detriment without realizing it, but man I always enjoy myself and often you help get me thinking in better ways.

As someone who got burned by anxiety, strung-out labs, and the acedemia world, specifically a microbiology one, the job talk at the end was really therapeutic. It's not just me. So, if you ever see this, thanks for talking about that Carl. :)

I just defended my PhD thesis this week and a lot of what you said in the end resonates with me. I decided to ultimately move away from academia, and I am starting a job next week. I know that even with all the difficulties in academic jobs, it is possible to find your way and I wish you the best of luck!

I rarely comment, but going through the last year of my biomedical/neuroscience phd. And everything you said resonated waay to much with my current issue. It makes me feel a lot better to know others experience the same and what they do to handle personal health with career stuff!

I feel the Hot Garbage Job... I started working at a lab and they wouldn't give me proper PPE.
Like, the lab coat didn't cover my arms all the way and I was told to reuse gloves as much as possible. When I brought up these issues I was told I was over thinking everything.

It's not enjoyable to me to sit in my room all day making videos, as opposed to being in person with real humans, collaborating and teaching science. It just doesn't work for me. I do have a new science job starting soon thankfully!

Is there something wrong with publishing negative results in the academia-pressure sense? Because that's all I could think about doing to salvage that situation (knowing nothing about it). "Welp, seems like I was wrong, let's compile all the evidence, draw the conclusions and warn the next guy who would try this path".
Yeah you don't get tenure and potentially lose your job if you aren't productive enough. It's a stressful system.

Pick A Snek has some terrible potential for horrid level design. Imagine pick a pipe, but each selection has a three minute waiting period with exactly the same amount of preview (none). Especially if they figure out you can use the snake blocks to push a muncher out of the way to eliminate cheese.
