You don't need a keyboard to do this. You can just reverse the order of configuration. First configure the flic button to the desired key combo and save it, then go Accessibility -> Keyboard and when it asks you for a keycombo for your shortcut, just press the flic button

@@Yoskio Sorry I thought you were sayin the opposite, ie "isn't it the same?" whereas you stated it's two different things! And I concur, besides the technology being different, the usage is different too: with an NFC tag you need your phone with you, take it out of your pocket, and align it precisely for several seconds onto the NFC tag VS just press the damn button ^^

Great video, and a VERY creative use of Accessibility…
I was watching this, and kept thinking “Umm, yeah, but you’re going to need your phone with you due to the necessity of a Bluetooth connection…”
Since I have other workarounds (HomeBridge, Signal for HomeKit, etc) to accomplish similar results, I was kinda wondering about how this could fit into my ecosystem.
At the very end of the video it hit me…
A Flic button configured in this manner would be PERFECT in a vehicle. The possibilities for Leaving/Returning home are endless…they’d not be reliant on Geolocation…and a text message verification of successful completion could occur.
    - Dammit Shane (and Francesco too)…I may have to go buy Flic Buttons now.
    🤣
Thanks, as always, for the content. Cool stuff.

Dude, this one is awesome. I love Flic buttons. I have several connected to my home with the hub and one in my car as a more convenient play/pause button for media. I was looking for a way to trigger a shortcut on the car button without the hub. Should have known you'd be the first search result!

I’ve been reminded that many of our Flic buttons do stuff no one remembers in my house. I was just thinking that it would be great to have a Siri message when any of the buttons are pressed to share what it is that it just did (or that the long press - rarely used - can tell folks what the single and double presses do).
This should enable me to do so!

This looks great and kind of what I want to do, to trigger taking an audio not while riding my bike. It would be good to have an app-button where you could assign a personal shortcut straight to a button press, but this is essentially the same thing. THIS IS NOT A HACK (like having actions triggered by setting changing focus on your phone), this is just programming. Setting the hotkeys to trigger the shortcut is really just an extension of setting up the shortcut in the Shortcut app in the first place. This is like using Auto Hot Key on an windows machine, I don't know what the Mac equivalent is.
I just need to work out how to buy a Flic button in Australia, or find an alternative.

All I want to do with it is set up an auto call for my grandfather, he’s not great with tech but he’s an ol stubborn cowboy and would realllly like to be able to set up a one click phone call to me or a family member in case of an emergency or something similar. Would I be able to use this method to do this? Or even to just send a text message. He uses an iPhone.
