I'll tell you what really happened she may be a really good actress and I don't deny that but unfortunately she was given to tasks of portraying a really mean and obnoxious character and she played that role for so long that when it ended casting directors couldn't separate her and that character she got type cast as the black girl with the bad attitude which was the character she played I think what could have helped her was that if she went out for other roles when the show was on hiatus so she could add to her resume and show producers and casting directors that she had different levels and she was more versatile and another thing that hurt her to go along with this was the fact that Family Matters was such a big and iconic show because of Jaleel White and The Steve Urkel character because that end up hurting Jaleel White later when he tried to do other things
Exactly and people said Topher grace was crazy for going for other acting roles when he was on a successful TV show that '70s show Even though for years he was unable to take other acting roles because of scheduling conflicts with the show until the later seasons when he started getting movie roles That's why you see his character Eric not showing up they essentially tried to write his character off the show and it tanked

Their relationship on screen is what made the show a hit , Steve stalking Laura. You blk males only bash her character because you see yourself as the dork in the show. Its arrested development, grow the f up , nobody owes you affection.The real reason she didnt fly high in Hollywood, was just like the title said , hollywood was to DARK. I believe she was offered to do certain things , to go to specific places, and she refused. Looking at where she is today, i think she made the right choice. She looks happy and in her right mind. Look at all the public scrutiny she gets for A damn Former Character, and now weight. It takes a strong person to ignore you people. Shes still has her Beauty and her family , so hey she wins.
