    OVER 10 YEARS I AM LIVING WITHOUT MY FAMILY BECAUSE OF RISHI SUNAK & TORIES RIDICULOUS INCOME REQUIREMENTS TO SPONSOR SPOUSE, INCOME THRESHOLD IS WAY ABOVE THE NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGES WHICH IS AGAINST ARTICLE 8 HUMAN RIGHTS. HOPE LABOUR WIN THE GENERAL ELECTIONS AND MAKE SOME CHANGES SO I CAN FINALLY REUNITE WITH MY SPOUSE & CHILDREN

      We cannot afford to keep adding to the population we have already. We can't look after the citizens we have now so no, anyone coming into the country needs to be able to support themselves and ideally have to supplement their medical care with private medical insurance. That means setting a high income standard. We are no different to many western countries. I am sorry that that means you are away from your family, but there are 66 million other people in this country with a right to a roof over their head which is at risk for many of them and medical assistance which many can't get because we don't have the resources to treat everyone. If Labour starts opening borders indiscriminately, their popularity will not last long

      @shellyl5971 That's exactly where the tory government have fooled the general public, you are thinking people have flooded the UK via the spouse visa route infact if you do research around 70,000 people came via this route. Where the biggest problem is the illegals entering the country and also when the government allowed students to come here and were allowed to bring all their family members without having to meet any income requirements if they can look after them or not, this route was abused and over 700,000 entered via this route, also agencies bringing in foreign workers with promises of work when they had no work for them. I am a legal British citizen working over 20 years without claiming any public funds and do you think it's fair i don't have a right to a family life just because I married someone from abroad. A fair practice would have been a income requirement in-line with the national minimum wage not £29,000 then jumping to £38,700

    I had an excellent guidance teacher at Firrhill High School, who went on to be headteacher at Liberton High School and then Head of Education at Edinburgh City Council. He was really helpful after I had VP Shunt surgeries in Autumn 2004.

      @@Bungle-UK Realistically taxes can not go much higher, the current government has raised taxes on the wrong people while allowing the ones who should pay the most get away. No prospective government can do anything till they get back in and sees the mess.
      The joke note that is always left saying "Sorry there's no money Left " will be the most honest thing this tory government will ever say,

      Because they’re not lying to you about it, the Tories ruled out tax rises then did it anyway. The countries in an awful state we can all see it, and with the way the world’s going anything could happen. Not ruling it out means that if the worst happens they have the scope to make changes if they become necessary, the Tories will promise they won’t then do it anyway should the circumstances change for the worse as they’ve already shown. I’d rather vote for the honesty of someone that says it’s not their intention to raise taxes but reserve the right to if it becomes necessary than someone who promises they won’t, then do as they have in the past few years.

      @@tomvandersteen5880 I’d rather vote for someone that says the tax burden is high enough and they need to be smarter with the budget they have. The Tories have increased both the scope of the state and welfare spending - time to trim the fat and get the role and cost of government back to a realistic basis.

    "Keir Starmer's government will recruit 6500 more teachers." Excellent. Even if this weren't a pledge by Starmer, whose sole achievement of note has thus far been to U-turn on every single pledge he made to get elected as leader, perhaps it would be interesting to learn how the addition of 1/5 of a teacher to each school will make any meaningful change. It would also be useful to know how you're going to recruit these teachers, where the Tory government have repeatedly made these pledges, and failed to meet them, either. There's a bit more to it than just describing what a 'brilliant job' it is. If it's that brilliant, why is there the recruitment and retention crisis?

    • @eightiesmusic1984
      @eightiesmusic1984 3 місяці тому

      Precisely. See my post above if you wish. It is a multi faceted problem and Labour has no meaningful plans to address it. The unions are weak and full of talk but for over twenty years have been good at describing the issues and much less adept at forcing meaningful change, a problem not helped by the apathy towards showing any solidarity by the majority of teachers. Pay is now at 2001 levels in real terms. The exodus will continue apace as nothing is done.
