One of my first jobs was waitressing at a café where they pooled tips. If you worked a shift w/ two other go getters it was great, but when you worked a shift w/one or 2 slow-pokes or a lazy loser who didn't take care of their customers you got shafted. A friend of mine has a teenage son who came to him asking his father to donate money to some local cause. When my friend declined the son got indignant. My friend changed the subject and told his son he needed the garage cleaned out and he would pay him to do it. The son agreed and when the work was complete went to his dad to get paid. My friend said instead of giving the money to his son, he was going to donate it to the local cause the son had requested his dad fund. Needless to say the son went into a tirade about how he had been robbed and how unfair it was. The kid is sharp and he quickly realized that when you take money from Peter to pay Paul, you are not helping Paul and you are hurting Peter.

A University Professor had a group of Students that were adamant that socialism (equal distribution for all) was the only way to go so, he told them that for their exams he would average all their results and everyone would get the average grade. For the first exam under the new system everyone got a B. The students that had worked hard and usually got an A were a bit miffed and obviously the students that normally struggled to scrape a D were extremely pleased. On the next exam the grade was C-. The ex A grade students had figured it wasn't worth putting in loads of effort for no personal gain and the D students figured they could get away with doing even less than they used to. By the next exam the grade had bottomed out at an F and, at the end of the year, the students had the honor of being members of the only class in the history of the University where the entire class failed. A true testament to the virtues of socialism.
