Clever. Good Find! Super detailed info too.
Thanks Mark! Yeah it’s an interesting concept. If they charged faster I would seriously consider getting more than just one as a backup
Thank You!
I have the exact same one, but under the Neewer brand, in brown. I noticed that when I charge and shoot 4K video at the same time on the Sony a7IV, I get overheating. Unfortunately, their Type C does not support fast charging protocols. To do this, I purchased an ISDT NP2 Air charger. It charges the battery in 1.5 hours
Thanks for the heads up on this product. SmallRig has always produced reliable products in my experience. Most accessories that I buy for my camera usually involve SmallRig at some point. I even bought one of their lights. Another great choice.
You got it! I like the direction they are taking.
I have their a7S III cage, several top handles, side handle, HDMI cables, Ronin-M ring & feet, shoulder rig, monitor mount, carbon fiber heavy duty tripod legs, and their RC 220B COB light. The ONLY issue I've ever had with their stuff is their VB155 battery where the plastic piece securing the D-Tap port broke and is now loosely hanging, but it still works and SmallRig refunded me without requiring me to send anything back. Call me a fanboy, but their products are great!
An informative vid! Thanks 👍👍
You got it! 👍🏻
It would be a snug fit, but I’m curious if you’re technically able to have the battery plugged into charging power while it’s being used in the camera. Sorta similar to Sony letting us trickle charge while the camera is operating with the battery inside. My guess is probably not, but would be interesting if a third party allowed something like that.
It could be beneficial so that our flip out screens don’t smack the USB cable sticking out.
Interesting, I’ll check when I get back home today good call Jason
SmallRig said do not use while charging. Check the Q&A on this battery's product page, it has some other good questions answered.
@@Rocky-ARthank you for the heads up!
@@ReachFilmshow did the test go
*Have you made a Video on Dummy Batteries for the NP-FZ100? I do pretty much all of My Videos at home and that option is nice*
I have not yet, main reason is I just use the power through usb, my issue with dummy batteries is there is a much higher chance of frying your camera using them.
you dont get a warning message in the camera saying its not original battery? I am getting that with the Powerextra FZ100 Battery Replacement for Sony NP-FZ100 batteries from amazon
Smallrig put note in their official marketplace account in Indonesia, cant be used with FX3 4.0 or FX30 3.0. I think you’ll get the warning with this battery.
This video was before Sony started disabling the percentage in firmware, so depending on your camera double check what firmware you have. If it’s within the past 6 months this battery may not read percentage
What’s your travel case? Looks sweet!
Peak design
What is the name of the bag you showed in the video?!
It’s a 3L bag from pgytech
it's my dilemma, when I got my A7iv in the philippines, It does not come with a sony external charger. But was forced to buy a oem charger
Yeah it seems like most cameras don’t come with one. I found this website that claims theirs did but they didn’t say what country they were from
when you say OEM, you meant Fake, right?
OEM stands for “Original Equipment Manufacturer” so the batteries made by Sony that are included with the cameras
A lot of people butcher the definition of the term term "OEM" but @reach films Jeff nailed it. OEM is supposed to mean "original" but many use that term to mean otherwise. 🤷
In the automotive industry OEM doesn't mean the parts that came on the car. That's OE or original equipment. Like you said, OEM just means the original manufacturer.
@@Nickporter17 You are right, but kinda confusing. OEM, Original Equipment Manufacturer, just means a company which makes parts for a brand. For example, if "XYZ Battery Company" makes batteries for Sony, and Sony's brand is slapped onto the batteries, it means XYZ is an OEM. It is synonymous with "original parts".
I have noticed some people confuse "OEM" with "compatible third party products" which should be corrected.
