Thanks CLS Allinone for this video, its saves our couple of hundreds dollars. Very easy to do after you instructions.
We only clean the filter from the back and we didn't opened the fridge from front as its our is more complicated and also we have a extra deep freezer. We stopped the fridge for 6 hours and all the water drained automatically from the front. Thanks again.

Better than the instructions from the manufacturer I tried to follow a few months ago.. without success. Your instructions were very clear and finally fixed the issue I've been mitigating for the last year. Nice job!

Outstanding instructional video. I was about to call a repairman until I came across your video. Simple and thorough. I saw another video where the guy cut a slit in the nipple, I did that hope it helps. I also used my Shark steamer attachment and it took about 10 minutes to clear the hole. After that the water flowed straight through. Thanks again.

Excellent instructions, clear and easy. After defrosting the fridge overnight (lotsa camping coolers in THIS family), it took me about 20 minutes to switch out the parts. Videos like this give us as consumers a definite edge in repairs.

Great video. I have a Maytag version with different top basket mounts that caused some delay in re-fitting. That crazy "grommet" RtoR ( round to rectangle ) caused all the problems! I changed it slightly so it cannot plug up again. Believe it or not, we just experienced this leakage the day after our new tile floor was laid!!! Good video, saved me a service call.Steve.

Just replaced this part today. It's a straight forward fix. I defrosted the fridge over night, instead of taking apart taking apart the lower freezer components and then using a hair dryer, chipping away the ice, etc. as shown here. The instructions in this video are good. I purchased the new design P-trap/Drain pipe. Only issue I found with the replacement parts is that the white plastic o-ring that needs to be installed over the drain tube that exits the freezer makes for a very tight fit installing the new drain pipe. I used a small utility blade to shave off some of the plastic from the inlet hole of the drain pipe, then applied a very small amount of plumbers grease to help make it easier to slip it over the white plastic o-ring. Worked like a charm. As shown here, the real issue is with the original rubber grommet that was used in production for these fridges. They get all gummed up over time and won't allow the condensate to drain into the drain pipe and down to the pan in the base of the fridge. Very poor design. The new drain pipe should definitely eliminate ever needing to do this again.

This was GREAT! We bought ours in 2011, had it repaired under warranty where they tech did a "hack" and cut open the nipple a little. Today 9 years later, the problem recurred. ONLY to find out there was a class action suit about this manufacturers defect for $21 million. EXCEPT it was only if you had bought the unit within the previous 5 years!

You hit the nail on the head on this one. There was lint in the nipple which blocked the water, so it froze up and blocked the drainage hole causing water to settle on the bottom of the freezer, and when that froze it leaked out. Thank you for the video!

Thanks! Second time in 5 years I have had ice build-up. So bad it got into freezer light switch and froze it to OFF position. This video also works for Ikea fridges (of 2011 era and others) as they are Whirlpool. Ice maker and drawer arrangements are a bit different. Took the opportunity to get rid of that ice maker as we don't have water line. Suppose I should get P trap to replace the rubber grommet next time it happens. Used a hair dryer to melt ice, and shop vac to suck up drain reservoir water.

Best video for fixing a leaking Maytag etc refrigerator. A few things I would add, I had three things that I had to fix before I corrected the problem. 1. Check and make sure the drip/evaporator pan in the back of the refrigerator is not cracked (mine was) Part number is stamped on the bottom and is easy to order on line. 2. The little black rubber nozzle leading to the drip pan was clogged. The only way I could clean it was with some "goo gone". Soap and water wouldn't touch it. 3. I had build up of ice inside the refrigerator. Make sure all the ice is all gone, especially the drain hole. I finally cleaned mine with hot water until it flowed freely into the drip pan.

Just know that if the drip rubber valve isn't clogged up it is something else causing your issue and a lot of times in 2 to 3 weeks its back been through it, some of the other issues are the condenser fan right above the coil that you use the hot water to unfreeze also seen a lower freezer door that looked like it was sealing and was not causing this issue as well as a ice dispensor seal on bottom of ice maker where the ice comes out not closing or broken and also of course this problem.

Lol. I've had this problem for about a year and I blamed my ice maker! Disconnected it, problem still there! Then I checked this wonderful thing called Google and U-tube. Found the problem right away. What really bugs me is that Whirlpool will NOT cover this replacement part for their fucked up design. Fridges are basically the same design, but I`m not buying anything with name whirlpool on it anymore. Order came up to $52.00 which includes everything. I don`t think that would've broke whirlpool! But they just lost this customer!!! Thanks for your help C.L.S Allinone:-))

Thank you so much for this step by step video! My handywoman skills are limited to hang a picture, change a lightbulb etc. but with your video, I fixed my fridge. Your explanations were very easy to follow. I had to show my husband the video to see what tool you used as my knowledge of tools includes hammer and screwdriver. That might be obvious to anyone else but for the novice it would be helpful to mention the name of the tool. Also, I couldn't figure out how to unhook the water tubing on the back of the fridge but I had turned the water off just like you showed in the video and the tubing was long enough to remove the panel with the tube attached. My model of fridge had some additional wire in the back that I had to disconnect but again, very easy.
To anyone out there contemplating following this video to fix your fridge: this should give you confidence that you can do it with this video. I have zero experience or even knowledge of the tools (it was a socket wrench in case I'm not the only clueless one attempting this) but I now have a working fridge that doesn't leave puddles of water for me every morning!

Thank you so much! My "nipple" was just packed full of black dog hair from both of my dogs. Once I cleaned out the nipple, the problem was solved. I did not remove all the baskets at the front; I just went straight to the nipple at the back. Thanks!

Great instructional video! Wouldn't using a hair dryer expedite the melting of the ice in the coil area of the cabinet? Couldn't you use a small shop vac to remove the water from the collection pan in back? If the nipple clogs and causes this problem, couldn't you expand the orifice so that it is less likely to trap debris? I just got one of these refrigerators and I have been reading all the complaints about the ice build up and water leaking problems. I am trying to figure out how to prevent this before I have an issue. Thanks for taking the time to make such a helpful and detailed video.
