Once you've covered all of the published editions, I'd love to see a video where you sum up your thoughts on the different ones - comparing their particular strengths and weaknesses, where do you think they get it right and wrong - as a way to have an overview for newcomers.
I remember before I got into Traveller a few years back, the thing that kept me from it was feeling overwhelmed at all the options, I would have loved a video like that!

That's the book that brought me back into the hobby after decades.

A video about High- and Downports would be great! I'm thinking about getting the "GURPS Traveller: Starports" or the "Third Imperium: Starport" for background reading.
My group get's a Type A J2 Free Trader in the next adventure. So High- and Downports will occur more frequently. And thank you for another great video! :)

Thank you for the support. Both the GURPS and the Mongoose starport books are worth reading. They will be some of the source books I will look at when I do those videos.

My son runs a campaign using this system. We have been playing a long term campaign using these rules. He has no interest in upgrading. He is pretty much to the book with just beefing up more skills in character generation. I think it is a good reiteration of the game. What I really liked about this game was the Open Gaming License and for a while it opened the door to a whole lot of creative writers. Once Mongoose closed that license, Pandoras box was already opened and that set the stage for The Cepheus Engine OGL platform. Now those writers can carry on under that platform.

Just recently received my physical copy of MgT 2e (2022 update) in the mail :) I had the previous PDF for a while, but after actually getting to play a short campaign I decided I like it enough to get the physical book at some point and the new update was the perfect "excuse" for me :)
I really love what you said: everything seems more or less compatible, it is so easy to just grab an old adventure and run it almost out of the box.
Since I don't know any other editions than MgT2 I would love if you would highlight what you think improved the most with the second edition once you come to that video (beside the art of course ;))
Thank you for all the great content.

While I love Mongoose Traveller 1st edition for 'restarting' Traveller for me, in the end, I was disappointed with the line. Like you said, it didn't look as good as it could have. Layout in the books could be a mess. Editing was downright awful. And when you got down to the nitty gritty of the rules, I don't think the authors had a clear vision for them and they were not communicated well. While the gaming group had some fun, in the end, I was so not-impressed that I sold off all of those books. Even my favorite from the line - The Third Imperium: Starports. I just kinda felt Traveller was dead at that point. I ignored 2nd edition until recently - I shoulda been paying more attention! :)

I've kept all my first edition stuff and mine it for ideas. I'm not crazy about the layouts, but there is still some good stuff in there. I agree about 2nd edition. Some of the best Traveller yet!

I never look for an index. I prefer those pages be replaced with more rules or charts.

I have all the MgT1 books. I prefer them over the MgT2 books. There's more meat in the 1st edition books. The 2nd edition books are watered down too much.

how the heck did yhou get that book? it's not listed on the mongoose web site but they have it listed on their product list. their customer service staff pointed me to their latest version instead of the 1st edition one.

Mongoose 2nd edition has too much color. I'm not sure how you make a TTRPG book that hits the mark between enough art and artistry and too little or too much

They are the books with the blue lines on their covers.
