I'm a huge fan of Leviathan and my friends had more stuff, so they ran Spinward Marches games and I ran Outrim Void games. If you can imagine my shock and horror finding that a sort of rug had been pulled out from beneath me. Yes, Mongoose has revived the game, but they have a heavy hand so to speak. Thanks for your video man!
Thank you. I am new to this video thing. Just using my phone. I want to do a video on classic Traveller and how with a few homerule tweaks it is still very playable today. I also would like to do three videos breaking down my self named Nostalgic Cepheus custom homerules
Traveller is such a rich system, even Classic. It astounds me the approaches people take. You have people who LOVE to build their subsectors and really create a complex system of relationships with planets and whatnot. Then you have the people who LOVE to design ships. It goes on and on.
Thanks for this! I've read about Traveller for over two decades and always wanted to try it. So, I just bought Moongoose Core Book 2022 today as it seemed the most accessible version for someone without experience in the 2D6 system (coming from Pathfinder and World of Darkness). Managed to convince my group to try out a Traveller one shot (most likely more of a three shot) in between our Pathfinder Campaign chapters.
One to get 120 thumb up. I sell much my old Traveller books. May be keep only the Traveller in French because i wait many years to get Traveller in french.
Hey Gerry, this is Bob from SAFCOcast in my other persona. heh heh. Great video. You know, a good rules set is awesome, but I think ultimately having a good GM and players is the most critical thing. Which is why you can still play the 1981 stuff and have fun. I guess. Hell, what do I know? ahaha
I 100% agree. Our world wide group is playing Classic with Beltstrike in a campaign right now. We are mining prospectors who have formed a small company.
Nice video on the classic and new. Just getting Into RPG´s and went for Hostile which uses the Cepheus engine. Thank you for you´re effort and time putting this together.
I used to play Traveller back in 1981 and just now getting back into it after a 30 year hiatus. I'm surprised (in a not good way) that it still uses d6. Traveller should've evolved beyond that. It may have made sense when d10 or d20 was rare, but in the day and age of online retailers and plentiful gaming stores, it no longer makes any sense.
Funny that you say "traveller should've evolved beyond [d6]", as I am wanting to run the game using a d12 for the main task die, just because d12's are awesome. I don't mind butchering the bell curve to use them, they are too cool!! I know there are 12 sided d6, but... well thats kinda cool too lol!
We played a fair bit, but as we got into it post Star Wars, we could neve really accept the fact that people were using machine guns and bullets (not laser pistols), as well as it taking a week to go anywhere! LOL It''s great to see that you still get to play it though, I'm quite envious as my old gaming group disintegrated many years ago.
As compatible as you decide. You can easily drop or pick up rules as you choose based on your own discretion. I have combined the two at my table. Its something you have to do for yourself though. Sorry for the slow response
😂 Great art my butt. Traveller 2022 Update cover is so lame and generic. All the people art looks like a lame computer drew it. The ship and equipment looks fine, but the people? Lame 😒. The art in the Cepheus books looks better because they look raw and from an actual person.
Yes, the greatest RPG family ever !
Hee, hee, hee, hee! That's a way to look at it. Classic Traveller = DOS; Megatraveller, Traveller New Era, Traveller 4th Ed. = Windows; Mongoose Traveller = Apple; Cepheus Engine = Linux; Traveller 5th ed. = Blue Screen of Death! Abort! Abort!
Kinda how I look at it. Thinking I need to make a few more videos
great message! play what you like, how you like

Thanks for helping me understand these different versions.
A great look at some old and new favorites!

Thanks for this and well done for making your own version. I have had some great times playing Traveller over the years.
Traveller - bringing people from far flung ends of the world together!
Good video i was just talking to john Watts about Cepheus and his Cement sector. I need to get into it more
thanks for the overview, it is very clear and super useful to navigate this profusion of rules..

Good for you. My recommendation is create your own subsector and setting.
Like you put the Far Trader on the front of you Nostalgic Cepheus! The overview of all the systems was helpful.

Good on ya for creating your own version!
I totally enjoyed your solo role play video. That was absolutely great stuff.
@@bgmill70 Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
Like your style.
You have a new subscriber from over the pond!🇬🇧

God.... I probably know who the troll you speak of is. Some people.
Not to hard to figure out and not worth following or mentioning.
How compatible is Classic Traveller with Cepheus Deluxe?

Same general 2d6 mechanics of all the editions in this video
@@bgmill70 I see, thanks for the information!
