Leaving your dreamy little home in beautiful fresh white snow to summer down under. We can’t wait to see you in OZ. We are so excited to have you come aboard. Love you two ♥️
Hey I love your videos- you are an inspiration to me in my sailing life so I’m happy to give you some advice re the beets. Just leave them in the ground and cover them with maple leaves or sawdust - the beds they are in looks ok - not too wet. Then you just dig them out as you need all winter. We live on Read island and have been doing this for a long time with carrots and beets
Awe, love to hear that. So glad you are enjoying what we are creating! Appreciate the advice re the beets. We'll be sure to leave them in the ground next time, thank you!
100% agreed beet greens are great! Unfortunately after a few frosts these guys were looking a little on the overdone side but we were pretty stoked to have saved the beets themselves :)
haha intro montage was all James! This guy's love of coffee is next level! So glad you enjoyed this one! It was a fun challenge to film, edit and get it posted in less than a week!
You probably enjoy your stove better if you drill a hole in the side of the box and put a piece of pipe in throu the wall from the outside with a valve to use as a damper. So you don't use the warm air of your airstream. Close off the original damper. You'll need to figure out the size pipe.
Oh wow, while I knew your sailing adventures were from more than a year ago, I hadn't realized while I was watching your first summer sailing you were out sailing on your second stint. I look forward to following along on your future adventures! Safe travels and have fun Down Under! Much love from near Philly, USA.
Hi Suzanne! Thought of you when putting together this update because I remember you asking us about timelines not too long ago! Really stoked to start sharing more recent adventures and our second season with you! Hope the snowy season is treating you well! Thanks for being here! Love, A
@@AllisonandJamesSailing aww, nice to be thought of on the other side of the country. And thanks! No snow YET, thank goodness!!! A very rainy day here, lots of wet, muddy, and some unhappy pups (I'm a dogwalker). Have a great evening!
Thanks so much Stephanie! And yes we love eating the greens!! we filled our bellies with them in the Spring. By this time in October they were looking pretty brown and wilty so we returned them to the earth :)
Found your channel through the airstream piece on Exploring Alternatives. Love your setup in the woods. James, who makes the work pants you wear? Are they waxed canvas?
Awesome!! Stoked you found us! Pants are from Fjallraven. Similar to waxed canvas. Big fan of their gear! fjallraven.com.au/collections/mens-pants/products/vidda-pro-ventilated-trs-m-short?variant=43585634173156
Have you guys ever had any rodent infestations in the airstream? *knock on wood* I know it can happen easily in RVs! I only had this thought when you mentioned the skirting on the airstream 😂
haha we've had a few little forest mice run around in here! I think three fury friends in 2 years?. We have mouse traps set but honestly it's sad when we catch them because they are pretty darn cute! The trailer skirt is a nice cozy winter hideaway for them and we did have a fury friend take up residence there last year, we spotted him scurrying back and forth from time to time!
@@AllisonandJamesSailing haha they can be cute! But dealing with their droppings and anything they chew on wouldn’t be fun! 😜 3 little ones in 2 years isn’t bad!
haha yes totally! and I can't sleep a wink when I hear them scurrying around inside. We picked up a fury hitchhiker from the docks a few weeks ago when we were on the boat and I was up all night trying to catch it. Eventually I was able to trap it with a mason jar 😅

Thanks Joe! That certainly would help to preserve the precious BTUs the stove puts out!
So excited for the trip to Alaska and everything you guys have planned! wow! 💕🔥
Us too!!! Thanks for fueling the stoke Caroline!!!

Your home is beautiful. Your gardens look amazing. I noticed you composting the beet greens. Have you ever eaten the greens? They are amazing.

What kind of boat is that? I love it.
Hi! It’s a Catalina 30, 1979
😃😃😃
What kind of wood stove are you using?
