They all look the same and they all share their data with Microsoft. Why RENT ( yes, not buy!!!! read the license agreement ) and pay for an Operating System that has power over YOUR computer and data ( YES, Microsoft can revoke you using their OS and shut your computer down, therefor leaving it useless ) and sells your data to the highest bidder ( personalized adds ). They are obsessed with removing features to "simplify". Like, I have my taskbar at the left side in Win 10 and really do not want to give this up. It makes sense as monitors are wide rather than tall and it's conveniently out of the way when using applications. I don't want it staring at me using up space at the bottom. But they took that away in 11. I don't understand why they keep screwing with the UI. It's like every time a new car is released having a different way of steering. Liked the steering wheel? A smart user will put that massive taskbar on the LEFT (or RIGHT) side of the screen, as most monitors are 16:9. So when you put a taskbar on the left side, you gain a lot of extra vertical space for stuf like browsing, code editing, viewing comics, and so much more, as most our work content is vertical focused, not horizontal. MS removed this feature for some unknow stupid reason, despite that we have 16:9 and even worse with ultra wide monitors, where a insane amount of space is wasted. Its like that stupid bar with Mac OS and Linux Gnome constantly being on the top.
Smart people have long learned, that placing it left, is a massive space saver and gives you a lot of free extra real-estate without the need to buy a 16:10 monitor!

Lasted about a week using 11. Wouldn't have even been that long if I hadn't found a variety of work-arounds to get rid of the utter garbage they litteraly force onto the start menu. I don't only not wish to see "trending" ANYTHING on my screen ANYWHERE; not news, not searches, not ANYTHING...I refuse entirely to have it embedded in my daily OS of choice. A couple of registry edits sort most of it out, but they really can't provide a toggle switch? Seriously? Nor do I want or need the same "trending" trash plus additional advertising on my browser home page.
After trying out the new interface as it was designed (a cheap Apple style knock-off parody with less practical utility than the old Windows left side of the screen menu system) for a while, it had to go. Found a script to make Windows at least look and function more like it should and ok! Only problem now is it's slower than Windows 10 for almost everything. Might be because I custom de-bloat Win 10, turn off all the "eye candy" effects, and do not under any circumstances use the laggy default apps, but...yeah, that is probably why Win 10 runs faster for me. I trim all the fat from it, and install lean and fast apps.
I'm sure some of that is possible on Windows 11 too, and I ran a script that attempted to debloat it and disable unnecessary background services etc, but I couldn't persevere with it longer than a week. There were no advantages to using it at all; none.
Clearly they are not aiming for the power user demographic, to put it nicely. The same people that used Win 10 vanilla, didn't know how much better and faster Irfanview and VLC were, and thought it was amazing to have animated transitions when opening a window...I'm sure those people will be utterly delighted by the centralised menu button and how it looks more like their friends expensive Mac!
Good for them I say! You enjoy! Maybe in another 5-6 years Win 11 will have developed enough and been developed and rationalised enough to be useable by users who like to get under the hood and tune the engine, so to speak, but it's not looking like that kind of OS right now.
MS still trying to force their crappy default apps is cringeworthy, and nothing more than an inconvenience for someone that wants to use Firefox or Chrome, yet still has Edge opening up links from the search bar etc. It's....well...not for me.

    • @Zefar77
      @Zefar77 7 місяців тому

You can remove all of those recommendations in the start menu, if you actually bothered to look around in the control panel. I found it myself within the first day.
The only interface change that actually changed in Win11 is the start menu but even that for me isn't an issue. I use it so little already and even on previous Windows versions that it doesn't matter what they do to it. But I slapped it to the left side, removed all of the recommendations with a few clicks and called it a day. Sure Win10 has a better Startmenu but because I barely use it, meh.
      Debloat? Laggy apps?
What are you trying to Windows on? A single core CPU from 2000?
Nothing in Windows 11 has lagged for me when I use it. Just got a bog standard SSD that it's installed on.
I have run Win11 for several months now but I have not needed to click any links in the start menu. Mainly because if I'm gonna search the web it's through google.
Edge is also just as fast as Chrome is. It's a functional browser now and it only gets hate because it's the Microsoft default one.
It's not like they are trying to stop you too. In Edge if you type in Firefox in the address bar it'll directly link to their homepage.

    • @DonaldWilliam
      @DonaldWilliam 7 місяців тому

@@Zefar77 Which as you probably know is the default joke for why people use Edge and all the way back to Intenet Expoorer; "you have to use it to download a decent browser".
I didn't go looking through the options for how to remove all the trending stuff. I have used debloat scripts on every version of Windows since XP, and it usually all taken care of with a few clicks, as well as other stuff that is definitely not found in the options and needs registry edits etc.
In comparison to Win 10, which I dual booted to compare, Win 11 was slightly laggier even after debloat on my machines. If you didn't run them side by side and one after the other to test them out, you might not notice the slight lag I guess.

Ever since I downloaded windows 11 it's been thing after thing.
    (On a laptop mind you)
When I downloaded it immediately Bluetooth stopped working (for everything speakers, head phones, mouses, keyboards.) Downloaded it when it came out and kept it updated. To this day still doesn't work.
My keyboards started to not work and I'd have to completely reboot laptop to get it to work.
Just recently my wifi just goes away. I had to find the wifi in the search bar because it wasn't accessible anywhere!!! WTF

I agree. Windows 11 even on 4k mkv video playback on a 4090 is oddly jittery than on older Windows 10. I have used klite mega codec, potplayer, vlc, etc. Each has the same result. Even after toggling the video enhancement feature in win11 on/off. Win 10 is so much smoother and easier to use. You don't have a UI on top of an older UI lol. That's basically what windows 11 is. Its just a fancier UI over top of windows 10. More bulk = less performance.

Also, when we played the same game with the exact same mods installed the exact same way, her W11 kept CTD while my W10 kept playing. She kept getting so frustrated that she nearly threw her desktop across the room.

    Literally everything you said.
But the final straw for me was that after I tried to move my user profile to another disk, as I did in every windows before. The microsoft store apps got corrupted and while trying to fix it, more and more break - even for newly created user accounts, which shouldnt be affected by another broken user profile...
And because half of the user interface relies on that shit (like the start menu). I just thought: lets scrap everything and start over.
First I wanted to reinstall windows 11 again but after I created the windows 11 installation medium via the media creation tool, I started to think: why should I reinstall windows 11, because of how much it sucks? It was constantly annoying. It always felt unreliable (which was proven by how easily the system can be broken without the possibility to recover). So I ended up redownloading windows 10 and hoped that my windows 11 key will be accepted for windows 10.
It was accepted during installation and it automatically activated my fresh installation of windows 10 with my windows 11 key. Now I am reinstalling everything else and oh god, does windows 10 feel so much superior, after using windows 11 for months now (on an absolute highe end computer btw.)...
Also moveing my profile was a non issue, even the store and the store apps work...
(Just Microsoft Teams isnt starting, the usual white screen, but because its a private computer and its not absoultely necessary, I just ditch Teams, still wondering why Microsoft Software always works the worst on Windows...)

I've debloated them pretty thin, and use the free Windows Defender that they come with. There are settings, options, or even registry setting changes to tweak this OS to your liking. I know many folk who really don't like dealing with Linux distros, or IMac's IOS systems, ...I guess it's just personal choice. But saying that Windows 11 is a lousy system?.... no. 1. Putting crap system setting interfaces and right click menus on top of the old ones.
    2. Saying they fix issues like TPM and File Path +260 char issues, but making you jump through hoops to implement them.
    3. Deliberately Forcing people to needlessly buy new OS'es and hardware.
    4. Trying to force everything to the cloud where the nickel and dime you to death.
    5. Forcing you to have a M$ account.
    6. Putting bloatware, ads and games that you have to jump through hoops to ditch for your PROFESSIONAL version being used PROFESSIONALLY at a PROFESSIONAL job.
    7. Still after, 35+ years not having an expandable nor copiable properties window. There could be 100s of lines in those little pop-ups, but no way to see or use it (see above hoop jumping)
    8. Pushing cloud tech for management of your win 10/11 devices, but forcing you to pay more for any features, having to use 3rd party apps to get your data and yes... more hoop jumping. (I'm looking you Intune...)

Win11 seems to be the solution to Intel's 12th and 13th gen CPU support aspect... and maybe some newer DirectX-related DirectStorage technology playground... Wind10 seems more stable/usable. But frankly, I'm finding KDE on recent linux distro releases to offer the best UI/configurability... Since or if Microsoft is planning Windows 12 be released soon, I wonder if they're even capable of fixing all the issues with and resource usage hogging of Win11. This only means there's a possiblity the ROG Ally to be released soon may be very much impacted negatively by their usage of Windows... I really wish Asus sat down with MS techs and prepared a stripped-down variant of Windows for their console, a slimmed-down Windows that's still full Windows and not completely cut down XboxOS, albeit without resource hogs, eg. using all those tools to neuter/strip MS useless "extras", or such problems as mentioned, especially since it's supposed to get some kind of console-like UI skin... at least an important factor should be of the Windows modern stand-by with correct sleep mode/hibernate working on a handheld device - so many people already spoke of its problems - if it's not fixed by Asus & MS, ROG Ally topped up before leaving home may be without juice by the time you actually sit down somewhere to use it... Such small but impactful problems need urgent fixes before the UI ones... Otherwise, we might be seeing people attempting to install SteamOS on ROG Allies once they are released 11th of May... all to fix Windows issues and niggles, to better game on handheld devices that then would run abstraction/translation layers/tools to work with Windows binaries...

TechniQualities: MERELY GLANCED this vid during the time I (had too, alas) switch to today's Win 11. YOU ARE SO RIGHT. If an OS is better "deep" (assuming it is) but crappier on the surface, simple actions... then the unDEVELOPERS are out-of-touch. Period. --- 1) Where is my fast, efficient Win 7 Preview mode? 2) Why are simple commands like Copy, Cut, Paste all on a tier 2 window??? 3) Why do I have to go to the same tier-2 to Refresh? 4) WHY file are lists desperately in need of closer kerning and probably should also have a bold option???. --- I can't even imagine all the crap you've uncovered, but I'm with you out of the gate! WHY AM I MISSING WINDOWS 7? --- Developers need to connect with every day users, the worst to the best, and understand that they should be improving on a product without arbitrarily destroying the best of said product in the process. It's so frustrating and depressing. (anyway, if you... or anyone reading this... have any answers or ideas on my bitches, much appreciated. (Keep fighting the good fight... We may never win it... but at least our souls will remain intact)

Don't install it, I regret I did after windows 10. WIndows 11 is reinventing the wheel in a bad way, lots of things are missing, like clock, programs installed list (yes), long times starting programs or games (rtx 4090, 5950k, 128 gb here), plugging icons on a taskbar is not working and also notifications. It's really bad and luggy

You can't even move the taskbar to the side of the screen to get more screen real estate. Windows 11 is a raging dumpster fire.

4:49 You can actually move the task bar to the left and you can definitely remove the icons like chat via the settings. You need to do your due diligence and check if it's really not possible to do something before making bold claims.

Creating desktop shortcuts of your apps are a pain in the ass in Win 11.

After clicking the Windows button, choosing the "all apps" button on the top right. You can drag the app to your desktop to create a shortcut.

Had to downgrade my WINDOWS 11 PC to Windows 10 because the audio driver MADE FOR WINDOWS 11 doesn't work on it...

I think they hired the Android team to develop Win 11.
I too have been using Windows since 3.1 and I think Win 7 was the best and should have just been upgraded. Win 8, 10 and 11 was made for tablets and touch screens.

I'm with you. Windows 7 was the pinnacle in so many ways. Although personally, I do prefer the Start Menu of Windows 10. I actually quite like the live tiles and the vastly improved search in Start. But in every other way, Windows 7 is the greatest Windows of all time, with XP shortly behind.

Thanks so much for sharing! Many of the reasons you mentioned is why I moved to Mac OS. It took me some time to get used to it, but now I am so happy with it. I might get back to windows in the future. It all depends on Microsoft.

Macos is just so much more customizable and stable than 10 or 11, although I really love how beautiful Windows 11 is and how many games it can run, but for anything that I actually care about such as school or creative apps, I'm sticking to macos because I don't want my PC freezing up, turning off randomly, or being stuck on a black screen

@@thatrawk Are you running on an M2 chip? We were all issued MacBooks for my last job. My dev team and I were always experiencing crashes, freezing, etc. Admittedly, we push our machines pretty hard, but I've never experienced so many issues throughout my development career.

@@DustinHalstead Why do you keep making the same comments over and over again on this video? VERY FEW PEOPLE have HAD ANY ISSUES with the M2 chips. Are you using garbage, unoptimized software?
Maybe you need to learn how to use macOS.
