Props to whoever mowed the lawn on the Switch version.
and whoever un-mows it
And whoever turned the lights on in the PS5 version
They told Mighty he'd get to be in a game again if he did it
Lol
It must’ve been terribly laggy the first half of the job.
The Switch version may not look as pretty as the other versions, but I still find it impressive that it maintains a steady 30 FPS with very minor dips here and there. I have the Switch version myself and my experience with that version has been smooth the whole time.
dips here and there? so it actually doesn't provide a stable 30 fps then . . .
@@dannylewis1539 Not exactly. I'll at least rephrase what I said to mostly steady 30 FPS, since it still provides a stable 30 FPS during general conditions. It dips when there are more things going on across the screen, which is an infrequent occurrence. So it isn't a case of one extreme where the Switch version's not providing a stable 30 FPS nor another where it's always providing a stable 30 FPS.
the switches main problem for me is its detail render for stuff like grass and other plants and grind rails/platforms its a lot lower than the PS 4 and 5 other than that its kinda the same from what i saw in the vid
@@dannylewis1539 It only really dips when it's raining
Same. I haven't suffered from any dips yet though. My wxperience has been smooth as hell. The pop in is a little annoying but everything is loaded with plenty of time to react. It's mostly jut things really far off in the distance. Other than that maybe the camera sometimes if I get under a bridge or something?
The switch version is definitely playable, and honestly impressive considering we all expected it to run so much worse when the game was first revealed. That being said, I might have to sell my switch version and get it on series x, because it would look so much better and the speed would would much faster with the 60 fps
I heard somewhere X series, or S series don't run well Frontiers. Be careful
@@3l_Larry i have a series s and it runs sonic frontiers perfectly at 60fps
@@sonic101official Yep pretty much the only problem with the new gen is that the pop in is still really bad. Also imo the game is ugly as sin no matter what platform you play on, but the game is still pretty fun
Pero mejorable
cutscenes are also not pre rendered so it is subject to popin and loading oddities which is far more present in the switch version of the game.
ps5 and pc are suffering with an absurdity of popins that i really doubt it's fault of the machines...
sure, but none is as heinous as the Switch.
think they'll be able to fix some of the graphical issues?
@@pennyandsuch let's hope that next year
I think the switch version isn't that bad tbh. At the end it's a handheld console and you can't expect PS4 or PS5 graphics from such a small thing, which is already powerful imo.
Steam deck (a handheld console):💀
@@Xenkria the steam deck is also five years more recent and is way more expensive
@@happyshanghao First of all, he's talking about handheld consoles and saying they can't reach PS4 or PS5 graphics when they actually can, that's why I make the Steam deck joke.
And about the steam deck price, mf, steam deck cost 399 dollars the basic one with 64gb, if that's not enough for you just get a good 1T SD or something like that. It is cheap compare to the fk Switch tf are u talkin' about. 💀

@@Alireza-tb5cl don't expect too much from Sonic Team. They couldn't even get stable 60 fps.
I like how sonics colour scheme on ps5 looks a bit more purple compared to switch or ps4
Except LOD why ps4 version looks better?
@@Alireza-tb5clless volumetric fog
Looks like classic sonic! No, i don't mean Santiago!
Whats up with that anyway??
Personally, while the frames aren't as strong, and the clarity is slight muddy in comparison to the PS5, I think the PS4 is considerably better than switch, as 1080p on PS4 vs. 720p on Switch is considerable difference. And while time of day maybe a factor, not exactly the same time in the footage, I think the PS4 does a bit better at giving the world some much needed, slightly brighter colors in the game, the Switch and PS5 have slight drop in color brightness.
Now I'm kind of glad I got the PS4 version, for 1. I don't have a 5, 2. I do have switch, but I do want to experience better graphical fidelity, and so far, it seems that Sonic Frontiers on PS4 (and possibly XBox1) is the best middle of the road option out of all of them graphically and performance wise.
Жаль, что PS4 нельзя засунуть в карман.
Played this all the way through on switch and never had frame rate issues. And I can play it on the go.
Yes, 540p must be nice.
@@user-gw3lw7dq2q I mean sarcasm or not , on a small 7 inch screen it is just fine. Obviously if I only played on a big screen then I would get the ps5 version.

Ps5 doesn't look that drastically different to PS4 Pro though. Outside of performance.
To be honest, at the end of the day the Nintendo Switch is a handheld console making games like this. Not what you would expect from a very popular device that a lot of people like.

@@corruptedteka Let's hope the Switch 2 provides a sizeable upgrade in power. 🙏🏽🤞🏽
Still can't understand why everyone still harks on about the graphics when we all know it's the gameplay that's more important, does a slight drop in graphics quality really ruin a game? It never has been a problem for me, as long as it runs smooth enough and gameplay draws me in , even the odd pop up doesn't bother me, as long as the game is enjoyable to play.
My man
🤝
Because graphics goes hand in hand with performance. If a game looks like shit, itll likely run like shit too. Plus its 2022, we shouldnt have games look like early PS2 titles, even if they are stylized
Graphics is the third most important thing to me in a game. Gameplay takes #1 and soundtrack takes #2
Well open world games need good graphics so you can be immersed.
Bro what?
I love how sonics fur is more purple in the ps5 version 😊
I think 1080p 60fps is the best option.
4k 30fps 😅
PS5 Perfomance mode runs at 1800p and not 1080p.
It's 1800p not 1080

@@tolucamexico1412 maybe your laptop is running the game off the integrated graphics? Check to see that it only runs games with the dedicated
PS5 performance mode runs at dynamic 1800p, not 1080p which is a huge difference (it's actually close to 4K)
Digital Foundry analyzed and confirmed it.
The 4x zoom portions of this video made that very apparent too.
That's actually insane. Especially when you compared these graphics to something like horizon forbidden west, or even miles morales, a game where you can also move pretty fast like sonic.
ty, i was about to comment howcome ps5 can't do 1440p 60fps but it seems this video was misleading.
I was about to say, I couldn't see a difference with 1080p and 4k at all
Woah, why is everything noticeably darker on the PS5? You can especially tell with Sonic, he looks more purple than blue compared to the PS4.
There's a setting on the tv we're were you can make the contrast look colorful and brighter? I guess
Wow the change from 1080 to 4k is so intense my phone exploded.
With how bad everyone says the switch version is I expected it to be a mess like you couldn't see anything at all but this is much better than I expected switch version actually looks pretty good

Hey, according to the analysis of the digital foundry channel, the performance mode of the PS5 is powered at a dynamic 1800p.
Yeah and same crappy draw distance on every version including PC. Surely they will fix this soon.
sega with sonic games is the only company i can remember that tries to make a switch port of their main game relased on the other more powerull consoles at the same time
Considering the Switch's specifications are very comparable to a mid range phone, the game optimization must be godly. Kudos to the devs.
No
@@crishernandez5279 Yes.
Sometimes I forget that the Switch is running on basically a tablet or mobile phone chip so its a miracle at all to see open world games running on it...
Considering the switch wasn't even in docked mode to upscale to 1080p and being a mobile system it looked much better than expected.
Nooo
Whats the deal with the lighting on PS5 version? It seemed SO much darker than the rest.
The switch version looks good tho honestly easy 8/10 for the graphics
if you have the ps5 version, do 60 fps, you're not missing out on much with 4K
I dont honestly think the switch looks that bad
Yea me too
But looking at the frame drops

Surprisingly they optimized it well for the switch.
No
It sucks
but does the game suck?
Yep. They did a great job. Please don't listen to trolls below, whose knowledge about computers is comparable to what an earthworm knows about skydiving. I really wonder why UA-cam just doesn't delete the absolute useless postings from that kind of In-Duh-Viduals.
What I wonder about though, how are some people able to run 60 fps on 4k mode on ps5? I see some videos on youtube where people do it, like the fps is way smoother than when I run it 4k 30fps...
Honestly, it looks great on all the consoles, it's just a little more crisp on the ps4 and ps5 but still looks great on the switch
Hey you should make benchmarks with the steam deck as well
Sonic frontiers is doing great and I shouldn’t give it bad credit
But the game, even at its highest quality, seems like it could definitely run on switch hardware. Take a look at Mario kart 8 deluxe or Metroid dread, those games are amazing looking. Because those games were made exclusively for switch.
I know it seems self centered in the switch’s perspective, but I wished they had started development for frontiers on switch hardware first then ported to higher end consoles, so they could make it as good as it can actually be. And when it is posted to other consoles, it would either make it have no difference or maybe be easier to improve the graphics.
Tbh I'd play sonic frontiers on either ps4 or Nintendo switch bc I want a "Blue Blur" not a "Purple Blur", but it's alr if you wanna play on ps5
Dose the game play in 1080p on the dock on switch or dose it play 720p 60fps
tbh I am suprised at handheld mode on switch it doesn't look that bad tbh, but i also feel on a less relevant note that we view the switch capabilities as far less than what it could be. When i look at what phones can do and output nowadays I honestly wonder why on earth does a device that fits in my palm have more storage and software already uploaded onto it be more capable than a gaming console with resolutions and what not? not saying that they should put frontiers on a phone that sounds like a nightmare but i duno Nintendo gets away with a lot tbh.
4:00 PS5 Sonic, looks like he's going with his Sonic 1 colour scheme.
PS5 actually works at dynamic 1800p / 60 FPS mode.
The Switch deserves props for being able to run some modern 3rd party games with its limited hardware. But you also gotta give credit to the base PS4 for going on this long and still being able to play big games like this.
This game has gotta be played on the newer systems though or on PC. 60 FPS for a speed platformer is the best.
Ps4 is stronger than the switch :P
Considering how often I really play games anymore, I think I would be just fine with the switch version. Yeah graphics are a tad blah, but for what they are you really can't complain. The game still seems to run pretty good.
Is it me or the ps5 look faded and sonic purple? It's much more noticeable in the greenhill stage where the green is vibrant on ps4 and switch, meanwhile on the ps5 it's almost the same shade as the sky
Why does the ps5 feel so much, less colorful?
because it's a bad console to optimize colors
It’s probably your tv, not the ps5
@@Thewolfguys.cartoons2000 thought so too. Turns out I just didn’t have vibrant colors turned on. I still think compared to playing on Xbox, it looks a little less colorful even though it’s on the same tv, but it might also be due to me playing on performance mode.
The PlayStation 4 vs PlayStation 5 feels like how the Wii U vs Wii graphics
3:59 Cutscenes...
Sonic's blue color on the Switch and PS4 is much more vibrant 🔵 whereas the PS5 version, Sonic almost looks purple 🟣.
I have a Switch and a PS4, and it's truly amazing what the little console can do. I play games on the "big" console less and less often. I also know that PS4 is the last "big" console I bought.
I really like Nintendo's policy on game quality, exclusive titles and choosing their own path in this battle for performance and graphical details. Other people also appreciate this policy, because the console is still selling well (130 million units sold!).
I'm only interested in the Switch's successor.
By the way, the colors on PS5 in Sonic Frontiers look somehow strange (for example, the hedgehog is not blue, but purple, navy blue, I don't know). Such a detail.
Of course, the PS5's performance compared to the Switch is impressive, but is that the most important thing? It would be nice to have 60 FPS, but both PS3 and PS4 got me used to 30 FPS in many, many games.
I have a question, can the ps5 run real 4k games with 60 frames at the same time?
No
Maybe a ps5 pro will come out ?
@@arinekevins8638 Ok, but the series x runs real 4k with 60 frames at the same time
It runs 1440p 60
The vast majority of games no but some like ghost of Tsushima do actually run at 4k 60
How does it do on the PS4 Pro?
why is the ps5 version less vibrant? I mean not a big deal but I personally prefer the more vibrant colors on the switch/ps4.
For me the ps4 version is better, nice graphics and brighter, ps5 it's amazing, but it's too dark and switch is very decent to play in portable mode.
-ps4 owner
if youre talking about the colors looking different based on this video, then i have to point out that the ps5 version doesnt actually look different in terms of colors
for some reason there are a few videos ive seen where sonic looks purple and the colors everywhere are different, but i have played the ps5 version of frontiers and can assure you there is no such difference
@@shirouemiya8038 I think it has to do that the PS5 version supports HDR which makes colors look more detailed, like make them stick out more or due to lighting
Ngl, i chose Switch because of probability. Tbh, the game runs good enough to where i feel extremely comfortable with it and dont feel like im missing out. Im someone who can go from playing 100 fps type stuff one second to 30 fps the next and not get whiplash and play completely fine with no issue. Frames have never really been a bother for me. And well, its Sonic. Imma be running around 90% of the time cuz of how fun it is and i wont be seeing much of the pretty details anyways so, i know my priorities
What's the Game Size part music ?
Honestly, I could barely see a difference between PS4 and PS5. I kind of like PS4 more because of the brighter colors, the shade of PS5 looks so grey and makes Sonic look more purple than blue, at least in my eyes.
The ps5 version doesnt actually look the way it does in this video. Its very odd, ive seen other videos have the same weird color inconsistency, but i own the ps5 version and can assure you it doesnt look like that
what about switch version on docking mode, is it stil at 720p and 30 fps?
What you see is captured in docked mode..
@@OpenSurprise really? switch is not 1080p even in dock mode?
The reason that the ps5 version looks so grayish is because of HDR, the capture device probably can't read HDR correctly so you get extremely flat colours because of it.
On a real TV the game would obviously look a lot better, colours more like the PS4 ver if not better because of the HDR.
What's the point in comparing framerate while standing still and not moving the camera....?
I can say right of the bat that the PS5 version colours are inaccurate as I own the game and the colours pop just like we can see on the ps4 version. I don't know why in this video the colours on the Ps5 version look off.
Ikr, I have settings maxed on my computer and I never seen that color change thats in the PS5 version..like is that just a setting in the ps5 itself? I assume so since it's a next gen console and all.

Amazon currently has all versions on sale for like 45% off.
So the switch can play this game at a relatively stable 30fps while maintaining "decent" resolution but can't run pokémon ? lol
That was bad development on gamefreak part and they still made fire emblem warriors 3 hopes and xenoblade 3 run well on it.
I know ps5 has the option to pick what fps and after experiencing both idk how anyone can choose 30 fps.
The main difference is the frame rate since they’re both 1080p when the ps5 is at performance mode. But yeah, 4k is a lot harder to tell a major difference with 1080p than say 1080p to 720p
I got the game on the switch because I thought I could use my Sonic amibo on it, had I know that you couldn’t and the gameplay and story was the same I’d have gotten it on the PS5 😭😭😭
But the graphics and controls aren’t bad on the switch, just…better? on the PS5. (Graphics wise anyway. I have no idea how the controls work)
switchより他のハードのほうが美しさは素晴らしいが、ゲームをプレイしていても気にならない。映像美よりもゲーム性が大事だと思う
I’m no expert but the Switch might perform better if it were docked. I’m pretty sure if a console is handheld and relying on all it’s power stored inside, while trying to conserve it so it lasts awhile really hinders it. Plus it has a constant flow of energy from being plugged into a power source and it’s displaying on TV so it’s a little bit of an unfair advantage
Small screen on switch helps but docking might look real sad
Switch is running on handheld technology considering its 6 years older than ps5 and series x it's doing just fine for a portable game.
Im the only one, or is 1080p to 4k not really so much different?
Because it's in 1800p and not 1080p, confirmed by Digital Foundry itself.
looking for ps4 gameplay look nice maybe ill buy hope unlike other new game the game dont drop to 20 fps and lower
So weird that even PC has the same draw in issues as console. Same settings for every platform outside of Switch lol.

PS5 Perfomance mode runs at 1800p and not 1080p.
I mean, comparing the Switch version against monster consoles, it holds up damn well. Nothing much in it once you start playing it. Was a faff on playing it in handheld mode. Much prefer Switch games docked.
not well enough in 2023. their using a console from 2017 that was still weak for a 2017 console against a ps5, it’s obviously not fair but that’s not our problem. blame the company that thought it would be a good idea to spend more resources on pokémon rather than improving their 3rd party game support and performance. pure greed from nintendo is the reason you have to play sonic frontiers on a portable potato. you have to cope because you spent the price of a ps4 on a console that’s weaker than the ps4😂😂😂😂😂even though it came out 4 years later lol
somethings up with that ps5's settings. he isnt that purple on other vids
i swear there was a nintendo fanboy in a nintendo switch facebook group claiming the difference between switch and ps5 (yes, 5) was barely noticeable.
Is it my impression or is the capture of the PS5 version bad? Darker, grayer image. Here it gets much prettier than that.
I squinted really hard, and i could not distinguish 4K from 1080p
If you play it on switch oled, even with lower resolution it still looks great. Pixel densitiy matter.
As i saw before
Sonic Frontiers in PS4 has 30 FPS that are a bit unstable in a 1080p resolution
Sonic Frontiers in PS4 PRO has 30 stable FPS with the same 1080p resolution and no graphic diferences
Sonic Frontiers in PS5 (in resolution mode) has 30 unstable FPS with a resolution of 2160p and good textures and better loading distance
Sonic Frontiers in PS5 (in performance mode) has 60 stable FPS with a resolution of 1080p but with less good graphics and less better everything
Sonic Frontiers in Nintendo Switch has 30 badly unstable FPS with a resolution of 720p and minimal graphics, shadows, paler colors and more annoying pop-in
I wish i could've got this for my ps4 but i didn't trust it because idk why but everything on my ps4 gets corrupted, and i factory reset it but it didn't fix anything
Maybe the hard disk is corrupted, I went through the same thing a long time ago, go with a profesional to check your hard disk, you'll probably need another one.
Tbh the switch version looks oddly good
I understand that it’s “impressive’ that the switch can kind of run this game but that doesn’t I’d actually consider getting it on that platform
How does the Switch version load faster than the PS4 version?
たとえグラフィックが劣っていたとしても、Switch版を発売した事は英断だと思う

Can anyone say if it’s worth it on ps4 or is that 60 fps a real game changer?
thing is it’s not just about being 60fps, the entire game looks rougher on the PS4 and switch imo
PS5 performance mode runs at 1800p/60 not 1080p/60
Trying to decide between the switch and ps4 version of this…

Getting this on ps5 of course
After a year of playing Frontiers on the Switch, it's not half bad. I'm not a huge graphics guy, but I hardly see a major difference 75% of the time. And it's still playable with these graphics whatsoever. Yeah, it will always look better on something like PS5, but I'm just happy I can play it on the go 😊
Why are the colours way less vibrant on ps5?
