I converted an Epson WF 7710 that I purchased for $109 refurbished by Epson several years ago. I bought new cartridges from Cosmos Ink that I refill with a syringe. No updating of firmware. Still works fine.
A couple years ago when I began sublimation printing I converted my old Epson WF printer (not a wide format) and have had great luck with it. I get my ink from a company that sells the chips and the cartridges (I only have needed to buy 1 set of cartridges). So, I only buy chips when I need to replenish my ink. I have now ordered one of these wide format printers and have ordered the empty cartridges (they come with a chip in them) and will convert it. I expect to have good luck with it! Thank you for your videos, they are great resources!
Hello Delonda. I have that printer also. I don’t buy the original cartridge each time my ink runs out. I just buy the chips from Etsy. When I get them I just snap the chip onto to cartridge that I’ve been using and fill it up with ink. I do not update the firmware on it. But, other than that, it get things done for me.
financially it makes sense. sometimes starting a sub business its expensive to have funds for the efficient equipment. but i started off with the WF epson and i made such a great profit margin and return of investment that i was able to place my WF as a backup printer and properly invest in a $1500 Sawgrass SG1000. so yes the WF is not the best investment but its a great DIY/StartUp device. once the business is in motion having the efficient printer is amazing and if for whatever reason the sawgrass gets corrupt then having the WF as backup is amazing.
Delonda, I think a chip resetter would help. I have one here at my office. I don't have to use it because I have auto reset cartridges that work just fine. I use 2 Epson large format printers : a WF 7520.and a WF 7620. I now use auto reset cartridges for both.
I have had this printer for 2 years! You should see my box of original epson cartridges, hanging onto them for when they come out with a chip resetter;) I finally purchased the eco tank et 8500 !! The quality is amazing and I finally am saving alot of $!!! Tu for your videos!
I just caught the replay. I purchased the WF-7710 a while back and converted it for sublimation. When I purchased the sublimation ink it was a bundle that came with refillable cartridges with the chips. That makes it so convenient when it comes time to refill the ink.
Do you have any tips on how to fix a scanning error for this particular printer Epson wf7820. I just opened it and started to set it up and immediately this errorcode popped up, "scanner error 100017." I hadnt even finished with the set-up process when this error popped up. Any help? I have been trying to look for YT videos but nothing.
I bought this printer a few years ago hoping to use 3rd party ink. I quickly decided it was going to be a major headache. (Exactly as Epson hopes) It's a decent, reliable printer at a decent price. I'm still using it but it doesn't get a ton of use these days. Ink cartridges do NOT last very long, even with relatively light use. Inexpensive upfront, but expensive to maintain.
I just missed out on a used Sawgrass SG1000 and it really upset me. I am a researcher, I mean, I go deep into research! When I was bummed about the Sawgrass, I started going down the rabbit hole and I found a fantastic printer that you convert. The conversion is as simple as pouring your ink in. I have converted a different size of one of these and it works perfect. It is a 13x9 and I am thrilled with it! I do own the Sawgrass SG 500 and I love it too. Also, on this other printer, it will update just fine. You don’t remove cartridges. I love this channel so I don’t want to post anything that the creator wouldn’t want me to. I will share if she does.
Please share the knowledge with us. We should always be open to learning new things. I shared what I know and what I understand; but I am always willing to learn.
I bought a 7720 converted and got good use out of it! Eventually it stop printing the colors I did everything under the moon to get it to work never got it to work again mines still have the blue tape on it as if it’s new. it’s just sitting in the closet😔😔😔
Hi! Hoping you can give me some direction. I converted an Epson WF-7720. It's been great til now. The cyan will not print solid. It prints with the dropped out lines. I have cleaned the nozzles multiple times and primed the cyan cartridge. Ink comes out when primed. I have tried contacting Epson...no luck there. Any suggestion would be appreciated! tia
I have that SAME one and I LOVE it! I use it to do my DTF HACK it work’s wonderful! I Am Over converting printers I have had the worst experience😩😩Thanks luv for the video
I thought the same thing...took me 4 hours (2 hours of watching video and taking notes then another 2 hours playing the video back again while pausing to complete each step) but it was worth it for me. No regrets.
I remember those days with my WF 7720 I used mine for 2 yrs I do not miss doing all that. Its eco tank or nothing for me. I do wonder when I look at it sitting around is there anything worthwhile I can use this printer for
I wonder if they use the same cartridges as the WF 7620. If so they have refillable cartridges with the chip already installed. When the low ink indicator show up, all you have to do is remove the chip and place it back in.
So I did get the Epson 15000 during Prime Day but I haven’t been able to get my dtf film to go through or print. I have tried the recommended “hacks” that I know of. I watched the video you did with the BIG MOUTH dtf as well! Help and thanks in advance!😊👍🏽💥
Delonda darlin i love your videos because you have helped me immensely with the print and cut and offset, (i need a refresher course on slice) on my design space. Sublimation?? nah! don't want to do it.
I'm really considering getting this, just because it's a good value for its scanning dimensions. This might be a dumb question, but will it still let you scan even if it doesn't have ink cartridges in it or doesn't have enough ink? Great video btw, keep it up! 👏
Delonda you are speaking my language. I, like you, did not do my homework and I purchased this printer at a cost of $199 which I just knew was a great deal, for the same reasons. I did like this printer for the wide format but converting it was way to expensive and now it is not printing what is on my computer screen. I am printing on a 8x11 paper but the image is printing a 3x5 size image. I don't know what do you. I have done a factory reset, checked all my areas that the paper size is the same and it is still not printing correctly. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?
My printer is in a corner. Maybe try to do a print preview before actually printing. Also, make sure the printer settings match the settings in your software program.
You should get the refillable ink cartridge chip. That will save you more. I believe you ran into that problem because you used the chip from a original cartridge that those are not refillable. Don't give up on the unit.
I wish I seen this before I purchased this printer. I converted successfully for 24 hours, but after a firmware update it no longer recognizes my cartridges. TOTAL waste of money. I caught the recent sale at Staples for $192.
For what it's worth, it's $180 now, the 7840 model with an extra paper tray is only $20 extra. I'm NOT in the sublimation game, but will see how home office work goes with it currently.

guess if you got to know about chipless firmware you don't need to keep buying new cartridges because it doesn't read the chip anymore so just refilling the cartridges.
This video scared me. I thought I made a bad purchase. Yes there are chips available for this printer. Yes if you update it there is a way to go back to the original software on the printer. In fact there is a way to take away the need to swap chips. Research is key. No you don’t go out and buy a product you know nothing about at $5 or $500. lol Epson never wanted the use of other inks…
When I first got mine, this model didn’t have a chip resetter available…do you know if they can now? I searched and I can find the resetter now, but I. Any find any videos where people are resetting the chips to this printer

I purchased this same printer for $229 from Office Depot not aware of the cartridge ordeal also.

@@CraftingwithDelonda really it just depends on how much printing your doing. For me, I would say about 2-3 months.
What do you search for on etsy to make sure you're getting the right chips? Also, do you have a link to your favorite vendor ?

I hope I don't regret it .I'm a beginner as well
Yes that tabLe will work for me. For the printer I messed up and got a 7840 and have to buy cartilages after they go empty
I hope your experience is better yhan mine. If you haven't already put sublimation ink inside, I suggest using it for regular printing.
Hi Delonda. Thanks for sharing!

Great video! This printer is a great price but the headache is more than I need. Thanks for sharing💜
Can you do a video on sublimation roll paper how to print a image and what size you use
Hi there, I'm not sure what paper you're referring to. I think the size of the image depends on what you're placing it on.
I have the Epson WF but i haven't had any problems with my sublimation ink. I now i need to go look
That's awesome. This was not the right one for me.
Hi Delonda... Do you have a video on howconvert the ET15000 printer. Please advise.
what about the ciss system continuous ink
I have never heard of that.

I like to o say congratulations to you on your award you received!!!!!!!! So very proud of you my friend and love you❤🎉yessssss!!!!!!!
Is there still not a chip reset, or a software workaround for the WF-7820?
Not that I know of. There is a channel called Honestly Spinking. She has more knowledge about this printer.
What about this from ebay? "Bulk Ciss For Epson WF-WF-7830 WF-7840 WF-7820 WF-3825 EC-C7000 WITH CHIPS"

Can you convert a printer that had original printer ink into a sublimation printer or do I have to buy a new printer that has never had any ink?
I haven't ever tried to do that; but from what I have heard you would have to get all of the ink out before using it for sublimation.
