70s Bobby Caldwell was as fine as wine! I don't care, that man has incredible talent and serious showmanship! That's all it takes, so underrated! Grateful for UA-cam being our ultimate time machine so we can go back to the Golden Age and revisit this man in his prime!
@@jeannemarmsn957 i went to that performance! Sweet! He played a song I requested on his site, "Loving You". I was blown away he did it. I'd see him again and again.
I was born in 1979, I am drawn to Bobby's Soul quenching musicality. I understand why he was sitting in the dark, surprised some of us when he appeared in the light. Such a beautiful Artist... Thanks for leaving so much love with us.
@@carolynstovall2245 I volunteered with the city youth baseball as the head of tee ball about 1998. I handed out trophies for 1st, 2nd place teams. There were 7 teams. I was fired because of complaints. All youth in tee ball before my arrival got trophies. I often reflect that the trophies were more important to the parents than the youth. Half the time the youth were chasing butterflies in the outfield and running backwards around the bases trying to have fun with no pressure to win. A baseman would miss a catch or a player strike-out at the plate the parent says, "That's ok, Jimmy. Go job." Well, it's not ok and not a good job, either.
It’s so bizarre how time flies. I wasn’t born yet at this point, but I was born 5 years later. Bobby looks so young here. And now he’s passed away earlier this week. And then I realize I’ll be turning 40 next year.
I wished I had seen this back in the day, and I used to watch "American Bandstand" almost every single Saturday. R.I.P. Bobby Caldwell, age 71. By the way did you see how giggly of a schoolgirl Dick Clark got when Bobby presented him with that special record?? OMG, it was so awesome!! R.I.P. Dick Clark, forever The World's Oldest Teenager.
@@lovethisone2673 I have adored this man from the late 70s in Miami. Just gorgeous in every sense of the word. My close second has to be Junior Walker.
Met him 3 years ago. The man is in his sixties and because of streaming instead of paying for albums, he's back to touring to make a living. When i met him he and the band had just driven from NYC to Akron Ohio. Sad.
I presumed he made a good living from all his song writing royalties. Who knows? Saw him live twice before the Covid came and ruined everything. One always hopes that musicians save and invest well, like we working stiffs have to...
Yeah he’s a very low key artist for so much talent. He never put out a lot of fancy music videos or anything like that. I hear he’s injured now no one seems to know what. Hope he’s ok!!
@@SarahKayeRen Yes, because the round 45 was actually pressed on heart- shaped vinyl ❤️...although the illustration on the sleeve INCORRECTLY pictures the record grooves being heart-shaped, too!( which, of course would be impossible to play on a phonograph!🤣)
When I first heard "What You Won't Do For Love", I thought Bobby Caldwell was a Black man. But, I didn't actually see him until the mid-1980's. Here in Tampa, Florida, "American Bandstand" was not aired on the former ABC affiliate (WLCY/WTSP-TV 10) from January, 1978 through September, 1987.
Ya I WISH WE COULD SEE THAT PLAYED OUT!?? I MUST OF MISSED THAT ONE BANDSTAND SHOW DARN IT I AN LIKE OTHERS ALWAYS THOUGHT HE WAS A BROTHER BUT, DIDNT MATTER LOVED THE SONG AN I STILL OWN it..

Wow, I never heard him speak before. How do we get this kind of talent back into the biz?
Support up and coming musicians of this branch of music

A white person with soul!! I see you Bobby go head with your bad self because “what you won’t do for love” had me thinking yea lol
