Subbed, liked and marathonning all your videos. As a complete beginner that will be painting my first miniature in December, your videos are proving incredibly helpful! Concise, to the point with examples. Great content.
Agreed. I’m just getting into the hobby because I miss painting on canvas. Well… my house, my painting area, and my time are much more constricted from before. Not to mention the price of canvas is 400% more than it used to be! If I wanted to paint a bunch of postage stamp pictures, it would be great, but seriously, who does that? Thank you so much for the comprehensive tutorial. It makes a world of difference!
I just want to say this is the best beginner's guide for painting. It's direct to the point, no unnecessary joking around, and very practical tips in all the phases of painting. Thank you very much for this! I now have the courage to try and paint!
I'm painting for 5 years now, but i'll never be able to explain the basics that well. Good job Zumikito! I'll recommend this video to my freinds for sure.
I’ve been looking for someone who actually gives a proper walkthrough on painting miniatures. This has helped so much. I’ve been stocking up on minis to paint, but just haven’t know how to start.
I'm about to start painting for the first time and I have found this video to be by far the best one I have found online you actually covered everything step by step in an understandable way and your other videos have been a big help also, thank you for what you do.
I love that you show the mixing of the paint and how thin you really go with oyur painting. This helps to understand the video more and the principles behind the technics. Other people I watched just said theyy go thin and I couldn't really tell what they meant
Just sent this to my Son, as he want's to start painting Miniatures. I told him your videos helped me a lot and you are a great guy and produce great video's.
Been watching your videos for a good long while now and just wanted to say I love your painting style and videos. Super approachable videos that make you want to paint afterwards rather than be intimidated.
I've just got started in painting minis myself and although I've watched a lot of tutorial videos, this is the one I keep coming back to. Simple and clear instructions about several great techniques.
Great job! The only thing I would change is the order of the "before" and "after" results. Usually the things "before" are on the left and the things "after" on the right.
I've been watching already hundreds of videos (literal) from many different UA-camrs to start painting (vacations, watching on the ⛱️). Boy this guide is awesome. I love your videos, your coverage and your "to the point" attitude is the best. kudos!
This is the best beginner's video for miniature painting I've seen. I am now using it to introduce people to the hobby and being a foreigner myself, I love that your English is heavily accented like mine. Kudos!
Great video, thank you. I've been painting forever, but now my son is showing an interest, and this video does a really great job of the basics of brush painting that I wish I had known (and could see) when I started. You've managed to show the good old fashioned basics here that are so easy to lose with everything else these days (oils, inks, airbrush, even contrast paints etc...). So well done, and thank you again.
I've watched a lot of painting tutorials over time and this was a particularly great one. Lots of great tips, several different sample models, and you despite being a 30 minute video, all your points were still made conisely (you just had a lot of points to make!). Great job, I will be sticking around for more!
I've subscribed to your channel because this particular video (I've watched a couple others) is essential, in my humble opinion, for people wanting to start painting miniatures, maybe not as a full-featured tutorial but as a very wide guide of principles and (for me the most important and valuable part) giving a clear image of what are you going to find when you start painting miniatures. The only think I miss in this video, which can be seen in some of the takes like the belly of the Charizard, is miniature surface preparation to make sure all surfaces are smooth and regular so relatively large areas of single colors with no texture do not reveal flaws in the manufacturing process. I've been painting for a long time (not as well as you, not by a VERY LONG shot, you're a very good artist) and one of the things that clearly improved my results, since I was not able to spend a lot in high quality miniatures, was surface preparation. In short, filling and sanding surfaces. Of course, now with 3D printing the surfaces are usually very good already, and for some high quality injected models even mold lines are barely visible, but I have spent quite a good amount of time preparing the surfaces of lesser quality miniatures so they appeared much better than they were at first. I understand that this video could not stop at those details, and I've seen your miniatures and you do some surface preparation or you are AN EXTREMELY GOOD painter and can disguise some surface flaws and blemishes with your paint (I can't, I'm not that good 🤣), so don't take this as a negative criticism of the video, which is GREAT, it's just it's something I missed and that took me some time to learn when I first started painting a veeeeery long ago. Nice video, really, I liked it VERY much 😊
I am about to paint my very first miniature and I already watched a looot of videos. But yours are by far the most informative and most fun to watch. I feel like I learned more by watching a hand full of your videos than spending days watching other youtubers! Really appreciate your work here! Thanks and greetings from Germany!
Thank you for this video I really enjoyed how you tackled three different miniatures and really showed the difference in styles and techniques in your advice. If I had this 37 years ago when I started painting miniatures I would be Picasso today. Unfortunately I’m now just getting back into the hobby in my late 40s and your video here has really helped me relax into it. I’m going to be learning airbrushing too so more messing up but that’s OK. Be well be you
Late to the party. Best tutorial I’ve seen. Complimentary colors is the most important lesson for me. I have never been good with colors and that is why I have procrastinated literally for decades. Yes, decades. Thank you for sharing.
This is probably my favorite video you've done, not only is it super informative every time I go back and watch it, it's nice and long so I can watch it and just listen lol
The beard grows longer and so does your passion for the hobby. Dunno if you remember me in comments under your first videos, but anyway, thanks and warm greets.
This helps a lot for me since I’ve just got into painting warhammer models with my orks and it’s better to practice on multiple model units before character models for practice as I’m wanting to do as good as I can for my character models
I am coming back to the hobby after a long break and watching a lot of videos and this was the best basics/refresher I've seen. You're work is amazing and you are now my "go - to" for painting advice and have already subscribed. Also your beard is almost as awesome as mine!!! 😁
Very good video. I'm trying to get into painting miniatures cause my goal is to one day paint my Dark Souls board game miniatures in a way, they look as close to their in-game models. But before I touch them, I want to be sure of my skills, so I'm going to start by practicing on Warhammer miniatures then hopefully within some number of months I can the Dark Souls duders. This video helped a ton and I'll be sure to refer to it often. Thank you soooo much.
biggest tip i can give while learning, watch not only this guide, but maybe 4 or 5, because everyone has different techniques, and some work flows and painting techniques might fit your work style or aesthetics better
7:29 When I add at least a little water to the paint, there are always two problems. 1. the paint falls on the figure unevenly 2. It is mainly applied in such a thin layer that it almost does not paint over the elements of the figure.
In the video you say you should, "glue the minifigures together first." I am curious why everyone says this. I will cut the parts off a tree, "clean them" of extra plastic, and gather them together to keep figure parts straight. I put on base coats and layer coats before gluing. I feel that before shading and final details/highlights, that yes it should be together for consistency (although watching your "never use Nuln Oil again" video I might not). What are your thought/feels about why you should put them together first?
Thanks for the tips. I paint Nolzur minis for D&D with Army painter stuff and use some Citadel metallics which Army dosent have. Im also using the Citadel mini holder to some degree. And whys theres a lack of brass metallic colors? Gold, silver even bronze and copper are easier to find. Brass color FYI is the color usually found on trumpets, tubas etc. Copper with zinc gives brass, copper with tin gives bronze.
If I ever have to introduce somebody to the hobby, I will show them Brent's beginner video and this one, so they have a stressless and smooth entry. Very well done!!! You can clearly see all the work, time and dedication that went into this project.
This video was so much more helpful and informative than the video i first used to learn how to paint minis. Ive been painting minis for a while and i cant wait to compare my old minis to my new ones after ive used what youve shown, so thank you so much
When it comes to painting bases i tend to do the model first and base after when it's for army painting with the texture paints, since I find it to add some more "realism" when you accidentally get some (read, SOME) of the texture paint on the shoes and stuff which kinda makes it look like there's some dirt and shit that's been kicked up on the feet/boots/whatevs while, you know, fighting an other army.
Very very helpful m8. Thanks alot for your work and detailed explainment. Iam pretty new to this hobby and iam watching alot vids atm. Again, thanks alot!!!
This was a great video. I’ve painted on and off for many years but have gotten more serious about painting miniatures in my board games. Wish I’d had this to watch years ago.
I never take time to sub to any channels.. made an exception for you. It's really amazing :) wann start to paint minis and all your crazy videos will help!
Wow! This video is chock full of excellent content. You really leave no stone unturned. Definitely a must-watch for anyone new to the hobby. I may start giving this video a shoutout in my own tutorial vids since I'm targeting beginners. Really amazing work!
So glad my colleague showed me this. I was so afraid to get my first W40K miniature that I will mess up the paint job but you explained it perfectly. Now I cant wait to get my hands on it :D
Zumikito you are the best! Even if I am not a beginner painter your material helps me to get more people into the hobby. Thanks! Keep doing what you do
That brush looks incredible. You even do metallics and it stays in good shape. What's the trick beside not getting paint on the ferrule and let it dry downward
Thank god your channel is a thing 🙌 I'm doing my 1st paints on some 40k necrons and astarties and I feel like I've got a much better idea on where to start 😀
I just found your channel today and particularly this video I just wanted to say Thank you! You made it easy and simple to follow. Great content and please keep up the great work!
I wanted to see as many tutorials as possible before painting my first miniature but fortunately I saw your tutorial which, for me, is complete (for the moment). What I didn't understand or missed is when the second layer of paint of a color is applied: after the first layer of that color dries or after the first layer of all colors dries?
Thank you for this great video)). I'm a beginner in painting and my problem that i can't control water in brush and mix colours. Maybe i don't have much experience.)
A very basic question on loading up the brush. Was watching another video, and was getting into the habit of rinsing the brush every minute. That would mean not loading the brush up as much. With your approach of mixing and rolling the brush in the paint on the pallette to really load it up, I guess the idea is that the amount of paint means the brush won't dry out quickly, so you can use it all without rinsing till changing colour?
I wouldn't recommend pva glue for bases. It tends to fall apart eventually. Thin CA glue (superglue) will hold much better, especially if we talk about rocks.

This is super helpful. Do you have any tips for painting hard to reach areas? For example, the inside of the cape/between the legs of the figure? I can't find any tutorials that cover this. Thanks!
This video took me over 3 weeks with over 100 hours of work to put together. If you appreciate the effort, consider subscribing! 👊
100hr? Omg... I will not ask how many hours it took to achieve that kind of quality of paitning..
Subbed!
Subbed, liked and marathonning all your videos.

worth every sub! congrats

same here, well said!
This was a very very easy and good refresh on how to paint minis. Easy to follow and learn in theory. Underrated video!
Best comprehensive video on painting for beginners. All techniques without fancy names and explained in the simplest way. Congratulations!
That is a good point! Hopefully it's not all that confusing since it's visible what stage is the miniature at. I will keep that in mind 👌
I finished painting my first mini thanks to the help of this guide. It came out in a way I'm very proud of, thank you so much for making these!
I seriously LOVE your painting style! The vibrant colors and shades match are very aesthetically appealing to me!

Great stuff, these kinds of guides are a wonderful resource for the community! I also thought you're choice of minis here was fun and refreshing! 😁
Haha I tried my best to choose variation to show different techniques instead of space marine 3 times :) thanks!

Amazing video. Simple but it covers so much. Really good job! Also the minis looks amazing.
Best explained tutorial on mini painting. Thank you.
naprosto úžasné video, moc díky - asi nejlepší video pro začátečníky co jsem viděl

Thank you very much man, I'm starting with this hooby with my D&D minis and a guide like this helps me alot.
Best Turtorial for beginners. Thank you a lot for spending your time in this great Video. Give us more 👍🏻
Very good video!. Perfect example on how to approach to painting miniatures from the begining to the end. Thumbs up!
Glad you liked it!
Wow! This video is chock full of excellent content. You really leave no stone unturned. Definitely a must-watch for anyone new to the hobby. I may start giving this video a shoutout in my own tutorial vids since I'm targeting beginners. Really amazing work!

26:40 that's.......amazing.
I'm not really into painting, but I bought the Hero Quest Board Game, and it comes with almost 40 miniatures! Thanks for the video! I'll do my best!
So glad my colleague showed me this. I was so afraid to get my first W40K miniature that I will mess up the paint job but you explained it perfectly. Now I cant wait to get my hands on it :D

Happy to hear that!
An extremely valuable video for new members of the miniature painting community 🫶 Job well done, sir!
Firstly, incredible video. Secondly, you have such mastery that it is easy to forget these things are an inch tall. Minblowing.
Awesome tutorial ! Thanks my friend.
That brush looks incredible. You even do metallics and it stays in good shape. What's the trick beside not getting paint on the ferrule and let it dry downward
Best beginners guide and I've watched a lot of them
Thank god your channel is a thing 🙌 I'm doing my 1st paints on some 40k necrons and astarties and I feel like I've got a much better idea on where to start 😀
Hell yea!
I cannot believe you're in Pilipintados!
Can't wait to see more of your content!
I am everywhere haha, thank you!
Wow! Best guide I've seen. Everything in one place and well demonstrated. Thank you !
Your videos are great - easily the best I've found on UA-cam. My painting has improved so much already. Thank you.
My personal favorite budget paint handle is wine corks with blue tack. I always ask friends and relatives for extra wine corks.
This is a marvelous guide my friend! I really like the structure and the way you guide each step!!
Brilliant video.....saved it for what I'm sure will be many re-watches.
This was very well done. I'm sending new mini painters straight to this video from now on.
Another top notch video my friend, slaying it!
Thank you!
This was an amazing tutorial thank you!
Thank you for the hard work and the wonderful video. I am trying to get the hang of it and I appreciate all of the tips. It is a wonderful tutorial.
Awesome video, I'm getting back into painting after taking a long hiatus, this is exactly what I needed!
Always a pleasure to see your videos. Great step by step summary.
Not really a beginner any more but I still find a lot of useful information out of this video. This is a great guide, thank you for uploading this!
It's my pleasure!
I really needed a refresh after 20 something year ... Ty I subscribed cause I am painting armies again
Es el video mejor explicado y más motivador que he visto en yt ❤
I wish I found your guide sooner
Really an amazing guide!
Love your work!!!
Dude you make this look so easy lol ugh I think what’s stunted my painting growth is painting RG black armor 😢
I like a sharizard! 🥰🐶
3.999 c'mon guys . this is a really good tutorial for all beginners! give him sone love!
Crackle paint can actually be pretty nice on certain minis (undead, demons, decaying monsters etc).
Such a great overview! Thanks for presenting in this way
Super video! I applauded for $10.00 👏👏👏
Eyyy, third person ever to applaud to me, thank you! :)
Very Good Video! Primaris outriders, are you starting a Space Marine Army?
I am expanding my existing sons of the phoenix!
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
I just found your channel today and particularly this video I just wanted to say Thank you! You made it easy and simple to follow. Great content and please keep up the great work!
Thanks for this amazing tutorial :)
I wanted to see as many tutorials as possible before painting my first miniature but fortunately I saw your tutorial which, for me, is complete (for the moment). What I didn't understand or missed is when the second layer of paint of a color is applied: after the first layer of that color dries or after the first layer of all colors dries?
All the hard work definitely paid off, great guide!
Amazing guide to start painting. Thank you very much.
Maybe not for me , but if i had this a year ago i would appreciate it a lot. While i dont like priming with a brush, its still worth mentioning.
Certainly an option, though better for single models. I like spray cans more anyway though
Wheter you wick off the excess or not is dependant on what you are doing - glazing and layering, I wick it off, if I basecoat, not reaply necessary
I wouldn't recommend pva glue for bases. It tends to fall apart eventually.
Thin CA glue (superglue) will hold much better, especially if we talk about rocks.
"put your clippers close to your bits but still leave some space there"
very important tip, even in non-miniature contexts.
26:49: _"Somehow Warhammer miniatures don't have eyebrows..."_
Lol! I have totally never noticed this. In the grim darkness of the far future, there are no eyebrows!
Love this video! Such a simple step by step thanks a lot man! Can’t imagine how long this video took to make.
thank you! It took 3 weeks of work and over 100 hours :)
This is super helpful. Do you have any tips for painting hard to reach areas? For example, the inside of the cape/between the legs of the figure? I can't find any tutorials that cover this. Thanks!
Awesome guide!!
