Why you compare T-Roc with Ateca and Karoq? T-Roc is in the same category as Seat Arona. :-)
Autogefühl having so called unified platform is dissadvantage in my opinion. All cars look the same. Interior is almost identical: golf, passat, artheon, now t-rock etc. It is so boring. I have passat B8 and I tought it had its own style but it looks like all other VWs.
Thinking from the perspective of Autogefühl’s comments on platforms above. It really does not make financial sense to create separate platforms for each and every vehicle. Perhaps considering things from a brand perspective will help. Lots of manufactured products are made on so-called platforms e.g., all Apple products look familiar. If you like a brand’s aesthetics, then you choose it and start considering what your practical requirements are. I am, like yourself, a VW Passat (B8) owner and really enjoy my car, interior included. It is a VW and it suits my practical needs. If you do not like the VW aesthetic any more, then you could consider choosing a new car from within the VW group. The group provides a solid line up: SEAT, Audi, Porsche or another even more expensive brand. The car you choose might be, as a for instance, the Audi Q3, which is on the same platform as the VW Tiguan. All Audi's look similar, unless you consider the versions, but even then the so-called DNA is there throughout the brand and between generations. If you want a different platform and design, then you leave and move to completely new pastures i.e., Ford, Honda, Toyota, Mercedes Benz and so forth. There is plenty of choice.
Top!
The exterior color built into elements of the interior is a feature i would like to see in other vehicles too, looks really nice. Thank you for another awesome review/video! :)
Thank you. Excellent video analysis of a very PERFECT vehicle. My only opinion is regarding the knob for adjusting the back of the seat. Personally I love that about Volkswagens and any other manufacturer that uses it. I absolutely hate having four or five positions for the seat backs, and the knob gives you infinite adjustability. Well done!
I agree with Thomas, I think it will be a great sales success. It looks really good, a lot better than the Audi Q2, which I find really boring! I can see a lot of people upgrading their Golf to a T-Roc, and higher spec ones stealing sales from the Q2!
it's a nice car, beautifull interior, it appears to me a little resemblence to the audi Q3 on the exterior, overall such a remarcable job, Thomas you'v nailed it as always, wish you the best Autogefuehl
Great to see the T-Roc review Thomas. Nice job! Looking forward to seeing the test drive. I too think that this car is going to be very successful. I like that they have preserved the main design elements of the original concept car. As manufacturing technology moves forward, more car makers appear enabled to do so. Looking at the car itself, the overall exterior and, particularly the light signatures, are very neat. The interior is very good looking as well, being still classically VW, but with a modern and personable design. Practically speaking, the car and it is boot size appear to be a good size.
Wow! For me, the T-Roc is better than the Audi Q2! Not the interior quality, but the style! Well done Volkswagen and thanks Autogefühl for the video! ;)
Love your profesional and detailed reviews, never boring... thank you! Some readers' comments should take into consideration that these are seen in different markets around the world.
versatile car, this small Tiguan. I regret that they will not offer the particle filtre on the petrol engines from the start. Thanks Thomas for the exellent presentation, I am looking forward to your driving review.
Brilliantly informative overview of the T-Roc Thomas. Look forward to seeing UK prices and trim levels when available. Could be a potential purchase later in the year :-)
In case I made a mistake with the engines, here again the complete list :-) Benziner/Petrol 1.0 TSI 115 PS 1.5 TSI 150 PS 2.0 TSI 190 PS Diesel 2.0 TDI 115 PS 2.0 TDI 150 PS 2.0 TDI 190 PS
Thomas, you mentioned that middle engines (I am mostly concerned with 1.5 TSI Evo) will be available with 4Motion, but it contradicts what VW has unveiled so far on all EU markets. Are you able to confirm with VW if 1.5TSI will at some point be available with 4 wheel drive?
It seems this car will compete with the Honda HRV and Subraru Crosstrek. If so, it should do well. The cars coming from the land of the rising sun are starting to look like spaceships from Manga comics (most notably the CRV and Lexus). Persuaded the girlfriend into buying a 2018 Tiguan (All Space in Europe) and she's glad she did. I appreciate the understatement of VW. In the long term, this design will grow on you and it'll stand up against the test of time. Less is more yo'.
Amazing design...looks like a concept! Beautiful colour options as well..Really great new design language, with this, the new Arteon and the upcoming Touareg. I just wonder how it looks with smaller wheels.
It's more a Polo-SUV as a Golf-SUV. For example, the door-panels are the same as in the Polo - one part cheap hard plastic and a tiny part of cloth for the arm-rest. If it is a Golf-SUV the door-panel would have soft touch at the upper end and much more cloth in it, but the door-panels in an Audi Q2 are cheap too. Another example is the cheap version of the hood fastener.
Another flawless presentation by Thomas! The car promises to be great, not too sure about the color coded interior theme, interesting idea, but is it really working in terms of quality and visual comfort?
Looks better than Audi Q2 I think. Clincher that will attract buyers is the color choices with the well designed/dash interior. I don't see any problem wiping off dirt/debris with the plastic flat top dash. Fake exhaust.. again?, what the heck when all vehicles go electric or hydrogen it'll be the end of mufflers anyway. Great video and review Thomas.
ChAbAr VW: "We haven't decided yet if we will sell it in America." That's how VW says "No." They will regret selling neither this nor the Q2 in America.
Another great preview, thank you. I really like the look of this car. For me, the exterior is slightly better looking than my Peugeot 3008, but the interior doesn't come close. It is also just a bit too small for my needs. Other than that, I think it's a very attractive purchase. Thomas, you mentioned no hybrid, electric or CNG version which prompts me to ask: are there hidden environmental costs to electric cars that are not talked about? I've often wondered about the impact of mining the raw materials for the batteries, then the transportation costs in terms of pollution as well as pollution caused by the manufacture of the batteries. What are your thoughts?
yes this is an aspect that needs careful consideration. Basically there is an environmental problem with almost every raw material. It's sadly our system of economy which is boosting reckless profit on the costs of exploiting people and the environment. The whole oil production is surely a bigger issue though. It will be the challenge of the future to make the economy sustainable
VW needs fresh and notably cars! The T-Roc is the best answer to that👍 I really love the new design language of VW (e.g. new Arteon) 😍😍 I hope there will be a "R" or at least a "R-Line" package available very soon 😋
thanks! The T-Roc is a little bigger/longer, it is between Arona and Ateca. Compare those reviews: ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=seat+arona+autogef%C3%BChl ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=seat+ateca+autogef%C3%BChl
Nice review as always!
The back is so much more beautiful than the q2. But I do prefer the interieur of the Audi. Would also have preferred it to a bit higher. But looks really good.
Thomas, On the 17 reg latest Tiguan they have changed the info-tainment screen to an all glass one and got rid of the knobs either side, which in turn makes the screen a bit larger. Do you think the T-ROC will be changed to this when it hits the showrooms ?
Hello, Not sure how many times i watched some of your videos :). Great work! So went to test drive the t-roc and the Peugeot 3008. I really like em both... Searching for an advice as i can buy only one of them :D Can u help ? Which one is the more reliable family car in the long run?
I disagree with the fact that the hard door panel and hard dashboard are cost saving measures. If they were soft touch, why would you buy a Q2? For the badge? Not really.
I think the qashqai does not need to worry. This car is just not...VW enough. The design is too generic(hide the badge and you would be hard pressed to guess the brand), the materials are not up to par with other VW products and except for the active info display and the infotainment system it has no real weapons to fight against the Nissan crossover. Anyway, great review, Thomas! Thanks
The highest trim level is SEL in the UK. The VW website states that SEL trim has App-Connect as standard implying that this feature is supplied already enabled but yet the Optional Extra for this trim seems to require the purchase of an Activation Document to enable this feature to work. So what is the correct situation? Does anyone know?
I’m really interested in this car. Can’t wait to see it closely, however the hard plastics put me off though to be honest I own a Peugeot 207. It has a soft touch dashboard and hard plastics on side doors. They’re easy to clean and scratches are hardly visible. Curious to see it in person, thank you as always.
Sadly as it is right now, I wouldnt buy it, id rather pay some more money for something with better quality materials and a better system, also the lack of hybrid or electric option is really a big fail on vw part.
Hi! Das Problem bzgl. der Anzeige der Navikarte liegt wohl daran, das in dem vorgestelltem T-Roc das DiscoverMedia verbaut ist. Das DiscoverPro kann die Navikarte auf beiden Displays anzeigen. VG
Love the turning knob for the wider range of backrest adjustments. However U.S. market in general doesn't like it. Hopefully VW will change their decision and we will get this vehicle in our market. Currently Buick encore and chevy trax rule this segment. Thanks for the great review.
Thanks for a very detailed preview, Thomas. The T-Roc is OK I suppose but, to my eyes, isn't especially inspired. Also I am still struggling with the way that VW treat their customers with total disdain. I'm much more looking forward to your preview of the Volvo XC40 in October. That looks much more interesting. Also the Tesla model 3. Thank you again Thomas.
Hello Thomas! Very nice review as always. But there is one small mistake about the engines at 9:26. There will be the new 1.5 TSI with 150 PS. The 2.0 will have 190 PS. Grüße aus Lübeck
Oh, didnt I say so? I got that in my notes, maybe I spoke out wrongly. correct list: Benziner 1.0 TSI 115 PS 2.0 TSI 150 PS 2.0 TSI 190 PS Diesel 2.0 TDI 115 PS 2.0 TDI 150 PS 2.0 TDI 190 PS
Today i visited the local VW dealer in Canada and found out that the T-Roc will not be sold in North America. Furthermore, the Short wheel base Tigual is also not coming to Canada or the US. This means that VW will only have the LWB Tiguan and the Atlas available in their SUV lineup for Canadian. Personally, this means that I will not buy my next vehicle from VW. VW will never succeed in Canada like Toyota have selling appliance vehicles.
The interior reminds me of the mk3 GTI "driver's Edition". Probably won't come to the US until they end the Tiguan Limited production. (And take out all the options to get it below 22,000 USD)
The hard plastic on the Dashboard is a shame. Since the Golf 3 there is a soft touch Dashboard. Even worse, the Ateca and the Karoq share a much better Interieur build quality. I have waited months for this review (as always, well done Thomas, I even try to write in English the first time for years), but a NEW VW which is obviously more cost sensitivly designed then my Qashqai is definitly not for me... But on the other hand it's making decisions easier for me: when my company leasing ends, it will be a Skoda Karoq. Maybe Skoda is the better VW.
Jan-Hendrik Müller the karoq is also hard plastic and the Seat Ateca too these cars are not luxury vehicles so they can be a bit cheap if you want luxury go for Audi
f181234 AJ in the Ateca review and Thomas in the Karoq both said that it's soft. As for the Ateca I can definitely agree because I have tested it nearly one month ago. In the lower part, all (even the premium ones) are made of hard plastics, but for me it's all about the top of the Dashboard.
Jan-Hendrik Müller still I doubt the average consumer will care if it's hard touch or not majority of people don't even touch it. For example if my parents were to buy a new car today they wouldn't care if it was hard plastic or soft they care more about the fuel efficiency
f181234 oh God, my English... but let me try: The feeling is in fact not what is important for me. It is all about the rattling noises. I once had a Nissan Note with a Dashbord with Softtouch in front and Hardplastic on top. The Softtouch was calm and quiet, the Hard part was rattling ALL the time and, in winter times, it even starts to squeak. It took me one year to get rid of it, and I told everybody : don't buy a car with hard plastics when there is a similar priced car which has soft plastic... you know it's also that VW starts to get cheap in build quality, and when it is such an obvious thing that everybody can see and feel, what about the parts in your car that you don't? Are you sure, that they do not save up in those parts which are important let's say in safety or rustproofing, where the customer just can NOT see or feel it? Another example: the Renault Captur of my wife makes noises from it's hard plastic Dashboard all the time, what has Renault done in the last Facelift (without any force)? Yes you name it: they have soften it up and for Renault this is not cheaper then it would be for VW. In a car such as the all new Seat Arona, the future Skoda Fabia SUV or a future Polo SUV (T Cross), it would all be fine and o.k. because theses are cheaper cars which have to challenge with other cheap cars, but the T Cross is (VW Statement) a Golf SUV and you really do not want to compare a Golf VII "Update" as they call it with what we have seen in the T Cross videos from Thomas and Brian... and nobody would ever know, if they charge 200 Euro more and made a better car!

Why you compare T-Roc with Ateca and Karoq? T-Roc is in the same category as Seat Arona. :-)
Jakub Brežina h
If you look at the platform, it is like this:
MQB A0 - VW T-Cross, Seat Arona, Skoda Polar
MQB A1 - VW T-Roc, Seat Ateca, Skoda Karoq
MQB A2 - VW Tiguan, Seat (name tbc), Skoda Kodiaq

23:46 When I see new great review from Thomas
This will sell for sure. I think it will be a VW classic and one of it's biggest successes.
Love the way it looks!

yeah that does come a little late, I think so too
Brilliantly informative overview of the T-Roc Thomas. Look forward to seeing UK prices and trim levels when available. Could be a potential purchase later in the year :-)
beautiful car!
beautiful review!
the t roc despite being in a smaller segment even has more features and quality than the insanely priced evoque. even the interior size is similar
LOVE IT thank you vw , and autogefuhl MARCO
grazie!

Autogefühl isn't it 1.6 TDI with 115 PS?
Thomas, you mentioned that middle engines (I am mostly concerned with 1.5 TSI Evo) will be available with 4Motion, but it contradicts what VW has unveiled so far on all EU markets. Are you able to confirm with VW if 1.5TSI will at some point be available with 4 wheel drive?
awesome review! the t-roc looks nice!

best review and make us understand vehicle completely
Feel free to spread the word
Definitely like a seat adjuster knob, because it is very precise!
Great video and review Thomas.
thanks pal!
Good review like always!!

Not a huge fan of the rear plastic bumper. But other than that this is a really good looking VW !
Thank you! great video and super fast!

Great job! I love these in depth previews of vehicles, shame it's not coming to America in a segment ripe for the taking

So then it's actually lower then my golf alltrack? How does it compare Thomas?
Thanks for the Review Thomas. Nice car
Thanks 🙏
Excellent work 👏

Much better than the Q2
VW needs fresh and notably cars! The T-Roc is the best answer to that👍 I really love the new design language of VW (e.g. new Arteon) 😍😍 I hope there will be a "R" or at least a "R-Line" package available very soon 😋
Nice surprise this T-Roc ! Nice design with the last Arteon...VW on the right road ?
great review as always my german friend.
thanks todd!
It has the led daytime runninglights of the ford edge...
and it's grille. While at the rear it's the Peugeot 5008 kind of Chrome cross on the pillar.
Very nice and great review Autogefühl. Might look into swap the Passat for this one.
thanks stick with us!
Very good review indeed.
appreciated!
Great review. Very cool watch ☺

Hi Thomas! another smart and high level presentation from you. One question: is it comparable with the SEAT ARONA?
thanks! The T-Roc is a little bigger/longer, it is between Arona and Ateca.

All new cars look somehow similar lately. Maybe I am wrong. I don't know.
I love your videos, thank you
thanks for watching!
The back is so much more beautiful than the q2. But I do prefer the interieur of the Audi. Would also have preferred it to a bit higher. But looks really good.
How many cm is the ground clearance?
Thomas, On the 17 reg latest Tiguan they have changed the info-tainment screen to an all glass one and got rid of the knobs either side, which in turn makes the screen a bit larger.
Do you think the T-ROC will be changed to this when it hits the showrooms ?
Very Nice !!!
Do you think they'll stop producing the Polo Cross? I don't think it has been mentioned when the Polo was launched.
Hello,
Not sure how many times i watched some of your videos :).
Great work!
So went to test drive the t-roc and the Peugeot 3008.
I really like em both...
Searching for an advice as i can buy only one of them :D
Can u help ? Which one is the more reliable family car in the long run?
thanks! Well I cannot really say as both cars are pretty new. From the things we could test, both cars are for sure recommendable!
The design is great, modern & stylish at the same time, especially from behind, compare this to some boring VW-designs like Bora-sedan and similar cars
I disagree with the fact that the hard door panel and hard dashboard are cost saving measures.
If they were soft touch, why would you buy a Q2? For the badge? Not really.
Thanks for review :)
I think it is a nice looking car.
thanks Deniz!
But still, the volume knob logo doesn't stay upright when u turn it. Something they definately should fix. I hate it when it not always upright
Maravilhoso , será que vem pro Brasil?
I think the qashqai does not need to worry. This car is just not...VW enough. The design is too generic(hide the badge and you would be hard pressed to guess the brand), the materials are not up to par with other VW products and except for the active info display and the infotainment system it has no real weapons to fight against the Nissan crossover. Hi! Das Problem bzgl. der Anzeige der Navikarte liegt wohl daran, das in dem vorgestelltem T-Roc das DiscoverMedia verbaut ist. Das DiscoverPro kann die Navikarte auf beiden Displays anzeigen. VG
What is the ground clearance compared to competitors
who else thinks this car is beautiful
Any idea if this suv will be sent to the dealers in the middle east region??
Love the turning knob for the wider range of backrest adjustments. However U.S. market in general doesn't like it.
Hopefully VW will change their decision and we will get this vehicle in our market. Currently Buick encore and chevy trax rule this segment.
Thanks for the great review.

Hab das Video noch nicht ganz gesehen,
Was kostet der und welche Benziner bzw Hybride gibt es?
Wird alles im Video beantwortet!
Do you think they bring to the states?
The mirror caps/housing at 4:58 looks straight out of the Octavia parts bin.
want a 4wd compact suv with 3 doors + dsg with around 200hp +\-
Really neat thank you
So... the front doors panel inserts are coloured but the rear ones aren't?
Sad !
drissistg it's no Audi it's a cheaper car based on the polo
Why are steering wheels not wheels anymore?
Thanks for a very detailed preview, Thomas. The T-Roc is OK I suppose but, to my eyes, isn't especially inspired. What will the base headlights look like those leds look expensive
Hello Thomas! Very nice review as always.
But there is one small mistake about the engines at 9:26.
There will be the new 1.5 TSI with 150 PS. The 2.0 will have 190 PS.

Oh, didnt I say so? I got that in my notes, maybe I spoke out wrongly.
correct list:
Benziner

will it be sold to Canada ?
They are going to regret hard plastic!
magic car. amazing ..vw for ever!! S2
Should see it in US in 2019!
Still used to with SUV being massive, so weird looking a shoulder tall SUV
Soft or hard plastic on dash doesn't important for me. But hard materials work longer and it is harder to scratch them.
But they can be squeaky and rattly in a few years.
sic22l Actually it is about connection points and build quality.
Not only that, hard plastics are more prone to make noises because of tension, temperature change etc. And they're actually much easier to scratch.
Good trunk size for the global lenth of the véhicle.
But The front has too much black plastic for me.
The hard plastic on the Dashboard is a shame. Since the Golf 3 there is a soft touch
Dashboard. Even worse, the Ateca and the Karoq share a much better Interieur build quality.
I have waited months for this review (as always, well done Thomas, I even try to write in English
the first time for years), but a NEW VW which is obviously more cost sensitivly designed then
my Qashqai is definitly not for me...
But on the other hand it's making decisions easier for me: when my company leasing ends, it
will be a Skoda Karoq.
I once had a Nissan Note with a Dashbord with Softtouch in front
and Hardplastic on top. The Softtouch was calm and quiet, the Hard part was rattling
ALL the time and, in winter times, it even starts to squeak. It took me one year to get rid of it, and
I told everybody : don't buy a car with hard plastics when there is a similar priced car which has
soft plastic... you know it's also that VW starts to get cheap in build quality, and when it is such an
obvious thing that everybody can see and feel, what about the parts in your car that you don't?
Are you sure, that they do not save up in those parts which are important let's say in safety or
rustproofing, where the customer just can NOT see or feel it?
Another example: the Renault Captur of my wife makes noises from it's hard plastic Dashboard
all the time, what has Renault done in the last Facelift (without any force)? Yes you name it: they
have soften it up and for Renault this is not cheaper then it would be for VW.
In a car such as the all new Seat Arona, the future Skoda Fabia SUV or a future Polo SUV (T Cross),
it would all be fine and o.k. because theses are cheaper cars which have to challenge with other
cheap cars, but the T Cross is (VW Statement) a Golf SUV and you really do not want to compare
a Golf VII "Update" as they call it with what we have seen in the T Cross videos from Thomas
and Brian... and nobody would ever know, if they charge 200 Euro more and made a better car!
Is a rear-view camera system available as an option? Doesn’t see it on German VW options list or mentioned on German VW website.
of course
does it have a cooled glovebox?
