Yet the Peugeot 5008 beats the Skoda Kodiaq, they just make it up as they go! VW Group all dull.
I do feel this review was a bit unfair, as the T roc stands on a platform on the level above the Arona so it’s obviously going to be bigger and better. I would like to see this review again with the new Polo based SUV the T Cross when it comes out later on his year. Having said that it was an excellent review on all three cars.
Shouldn't you compare T-Cross (not T-Rock) against these two models? Because SEAT Arona is based on SEAT Ibiza, and VW T-Rock is based on VW Golf, not on VW Polo. Not very fair to compare Ibiza with Golf - you should compare it to Polo. And because T-Cross is based on Polo I believe it's more logical to compare Arona vs. T-Cross (and Ateca vs. T-Rock). Then everything comes to a place: SEAT models are better than VW.
I've ordered a XC40! It actually works out WAY cheaper than the T-Roc. It's £3000 more to buy and that's a R-Design Pro with loads of options against the SEL, but with free servicing, lower monthly payments and it being worth much more in 3 years time it's the smart decision.
The Citroen may depreciate heavily in the UK because of anti French sentiment, but in Spain it doesn't. So it is defo the best value due to its low starting and high finishing price after 3 years
Well, at least in France, I don't feel we have an anti English sentiment, which could make up for the anti French one in some weird way. Anyway I'm off topic and waaaaay late on this one.
You took the FR version of the Arona with 18' wheels and stiffer suspension and you say it does not ride as good and it is noisier too... why not just go for the excellence then? Overall review not so good.
Appallingly biased towards VAG cars. I almost feel sorry for the Citroen. It’s hardly a “faff” changing the air con or temperature in the C3. It’s a simple prod of a couple of buttons.
I am getting more and more frustrated with british car reviews, mostly as it is absolutely irrelevant which cars they test, the results will always be the same. There are only two (luxury brands excluded) brands that will get a british presenter's seal of approval. VW (and all related brands of the VAGinal connection) and for some unexplainable reason Ford. Everything else is by proxy crap, or faulty. It is beyond me how and why this is the case. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but honestly the eyes of the VW beholder suffer from a serious illness. Most cars are as original as a home apliance, with the exception of the Scirocco and the Beatle, which were both canceled due to (ironicly) not being in compliance with the "family design"??. The interior is (wel built granted) but as dull as ditch water, or full of colors (T-ROC and Polo), my personal oppinion is that in both cases it is "less is less" and to much is also "less". Lot's of people seem to like it, but i doubt they really love it. The mytihcal reliability is unfortunately only a myth nowadays. 2.0 TDIs are exploding, 1.2 tsis are breaking chains (not in a revolutionary way), Dry clutch DSG on 1.2 and 1.4 are as reliable as a chinese handmade watch. But i have to addmit, the residual value is pretty amazing. I have to say, that the T-ROC does not look bad at all, but pricevise can not be compared to the Citroen. And than we get to the Ford. On the outside they mostly look ok, but it seems that they take the inspiration for interior design in 10+ year old korean cars. They drive fine, that ist t true, but the overall product feels like it hasn't been finished yet, and considering the price... In the town i live there is a car dealer which is selling Fords, Hyundais and Subarus. 15 or so years ago people came to buy a Ford, and browsed the Hyundais, today is the other way around, and you can't blame them. And it's not like Hyundais are cheaper, they aren't at all, but ill take the Tuscon over the Kuga anytime.
What a car the C3, !!!!!!! If you want to drive a car with pleasure. Don"t make the mistake to choice another one. Cheap and have alle you wish. I’m 64 married and we both drive, I’m 6’2 my wife is 5’2 we carry grandchildren everywhere. In 18 months we have covered 22000 miles. We have had not one fault , not one rattle and is probably one of the nicest cars we have ever owned. The 6 speed gearbox is now as smooth as silk and in no way notchy! It leaves other cars standing and brakes top notch. I have left Fiestas standing and it cruises at speeds you probably should not. When buying Golfs in the past the trade in prices have been laughable as have Fords. I have had more cars than I can remember and this C3 aircross flair 130hp and dealership has been the best experience ever. PS, I also had a Caymen for 4 years and still enjoy jumping in the aircross. Before watching this video I knew instinctively what you were going to choose.
Disagree with this review, bought the C3 Aircross, cheap, comfy, easy to drive, lots of room for the family. Still enjoy driving it, either around town, or on motorways. VW are too expensive for what they are, and the drive is a bit underwhelming. I do like SEAT’s, but not as comfortable as the Citroen. In addition I didn’t pay anything like as much as quoted in this video.....
I've driven all three, the Citroen certainly got more looks, the 1.2 130ps engine is fantastic but it has a horrible clutch and gearbox which makes it incredibly difficult to drive slowly but very easy to drive fast if it wasn't for the long gear throws and uncomfortable gear knob. I also found the infotainment VERY slow, the screen was quite dim and low res even android auto looked pretty bad on it and the rear windows were auto down but not auto up which confused me. For some reason Citroen decided to put in shallow cup holders in a form of a removable tray that sits in front of the gear stick, too shallow to hold a tall can, too close to the gear stick to be of any use in 1st, 3rd or 5th gears. Other than those personal deal-breakers, it was the comfiest, the biggest, the most practical, biggest boot, most headroom, 40/20/40 split seats, passenger seat folded flat too for longer items.
Citroen is sooo much cheaper and the most spacious one, and has a sliding rear seat. VW and Seat are just pointless when you can get a Skoda Koroq for less money, and it's basically the same car inside and out. Don't be fooled by the stated prices, VW are always bare bones, even in higher trim levels, and options cost is astronomical.

Bought the Arona and getting up to 51 mpg after only 350 miles of a 1500 full run in estimate. can only improve..stop start no problem either on a six speed manual.
Also you consider it difficult to use the infotainment screen. How hard is it to press up or down to adjust temperature, if you require radio press music icon, if you require navigation, press the compass symbol. You guys ....lost for words.
VW is not one class above SEAT. Only if you judge by the badge. In all other aspects the cars are pretty similar, same engines, same platform, same info, same bells and whistles. Different suspension and steering tuning, different configurations, but it is the same class. More than that, it is the same car. But the badge plays a huge role, I agree. Most people would prefer VW entirely for the badge. The only thing that depreciates slower in these cars is the VW badge.
Alexander Baranov seat arona is in the same class with the vw T-Cross, not with T-Roc. İ mean that, T-Roc is Golf class car. İ didn’t mention the badge, eventhough seat is literally one class below in terms of quality. Got it!!!!!!
@@selindenizcebi9952 :) I had a Leon, a Golf, a Polo and now drive SEAT Ateca. I have been driving VAGs for over 20 years. There used to be a bigger difference 20 years ago, now It is the same quality. Golf always was a very polished car, but so is Leon these days, it drives as well if not better. Same mechanically, similar materials, same body/paint quality, same knobs, same buttons, same infotainment, same ABS, same ESP, same Stop/Start, same KESSY, well, even keys are same. Same power, cruise control, same sat nav, same LEDs, same camera, same line assist, same oil pump, same engine, same transmission, same everything to the last bolt. Same reliability. Same problems. VW is sometimes better equipped, but you just need to go foe the higher spec SEAT and you will get pretty much all that for the same money. VW drives softer, SEAT is firmer and more agile. That's it. The interiors are different but it is the matter of taste. It is the same car. You can add Skoda here. These are all very good cars. The main difference is the image, i.e. the badge. If you want one class above go for Audi. There you will find more powerful engines, different transmission, a lot of aluminium instead of steel underneath, upmarket interior etc et. That is what I call a different class. SEAT, VW and Skoda are same class cars.
Don’t buy the aircross, mine is year old had two recalls , is still in at Arnold Clark Aberdeen, they are another waste of space, terrible after sales service , they should have kept the c3 Picasso , second recall is for airbag wiring fault , have had to strip out the dash , don’t know when I will get it back. Bloody Arnold Clark won’t give me courtesy car, cheapskate bastards..
Looks like VW are going to have a saturated SUV range when the new T Cross comes out to rival the Arona. Will we theoretically see a group test with both the T Cross and T roc in it?
You should definitely review your facts first. This is probably the most biased review I have seen for small SUVs with so much hate for a French car. And why put Arona and T-Roc in a 3 way comparison when they are from the same VW group? Bring in a Korean car, maybe, diversify things a little bit.
Good review. Whilst manufacturers have constantly improved technology, car seats appear to be chosen on the basis of the cheapest possible. I don't see why this should be the case as to provide an extending thigh support for taller drivers taking pressure off of the base of the spine and lumbar support should not be that expensive comparatively. I think that these issues should be given higher weighting in the What Car evaluations, and models without adequate seat adjustment and configuration marked down.
Has anyone noticed that the 6speed gearbox of Citroen c3 aircross is about 3-4 cm far to the front? I mean that when you put the 4th is where you would had a zero speed in a different car. I bought a c3 aircross and this is the only disadvantage i see. I have to straight up my hand in order to put the 3rd or 5th.
Citroen are built for comfort not racing, I found Fords and Vauxhall to be unreliable although nice to drive Both Citroens and Renault have been reliable and comfortable except for the Captur as it has hard seats
I thought SEAT are supposed to be the sporty, Spanish flair part of VW Group? The Arona is so dull and did I hear him mention scratchy plastics in the VW? They are EVERYWHERE!! So cheap looking. Not a huge fan of the C3 either but there is bias here!
Volkswagen is just absurd, why would you spend 5-10k euros more for Tiguan, T-Roc, when you can get Arona, Ateca or Karoq, Kodiak wich are all basically the same car. Its just stupid. xD

Citroen C3 Aircross gear shift is just obsenely vague. The same goes, for the sterring which seems to be in a potato bag. Also the stop-start is just dumb. I had one as a rental car for a week and hated it to the core. A typical French car: funky outide and junky inside.

@@Stevieweevietv well we're all entitled to our opinions. Just look at the reliability rating for Peugeot's for instance. Seem to remember one of their models cutting out unexpectedly, some in lane 3 of a motorway.
I'll take bland and reliable German engineered than flamboyant , rubber sided French that have the temperament of the French Rugby team.
@@Massfusion81 I have had French cars for decades as they are so reliable, I had my previous Citroen for 7.5 years and the present one for over 7.5 years and no intention of trading it in yet
BTW, The t Roc is 1 Segment Above The Other 2, it's a Golf suv. The Others are The size of The Polo!
Mazda CX-3!
Eamonn McDermott my thoughts exactly,!!
@@MillieonaVespa No, the CX3 is poor.
Is c3 aircross as good as C4 or dacia duster?
In Australia it’s all about Mazda superiority and in Britain it’s VW.
Utterly predictable.
That VW has a really shitty interior. Plastics are so hard and cheap!
Great Video Group Test. My choice would be the Volkswagen T-Roc
C3 is the best
Original.
Comfortable.
Nice to look at.
You people are obsessed with backbreaking german cars. Not to mention their overpriced plastics.
Genuinely one of the best comparison reviews i have seen. WhatCar have definitely upped their game...let's hope this continues to other videos.
Seat Arona and T Roc are the same car from same VW group :-0 The C3 is more a family car ...
VW SUV Compact T-Roc for me & Thank You So Much 🚗
Weird group , t roc is from class ( size ) above, t cross is more similar......
Can't we tell tell that What Car is a German Fanboy. How much did they pay you !
Surely the T-Roc is classed as a bigger rival than these two! Another VW Group biased result for Whatcar
T roc and arona are the same
Do you still have Vauxhall in UK not seen many reviews
Yes we do. Peugeot Citroen now own them.
How come that only for you C3 has smallest seating space. go a bit trough youtube to se other reviews.
lovely this is fine good looking car you are okay keep it up
Bit unfair as not all the same tier. Should have tested a T-cross and not a T-roc. If the T-Cross was out at the time.
Great comparison video
T roc best for me
This is a great review but please can we have the same sort of review of the Karoq, Ateca and Tiguan?
But T-Roc is one class above. İt is not fair to compare them...
Sashbar Now you maybe right...
Great review...good job guys!
Lol
@@sebastiandelsolar1 why are you mocking me😂😂😂lol
Seat look's the best... t roc is boring , overpriced with hard plastic interior..
Great review. The Citroen is not very attractive though.
Very clear and concise review! Good job!
The t roc is to expensive I will save money end get the seat
Good review. Whilst manufacturers have constantly improved technology, car seats appear to be chosen on the basis of the cheapest possible. I don't see why this should be the case as to provide an extending thigh support for taller drivers taking pressure off of the base of the spine and lumbar support should not be that expensive comparatively. I think that these issues should be given higher weighting in the What Car evaluations, and models without adequate seat adjustment and configuration marked down.
Good review guys, very comprehensive and unbiased.
Is that Aircross on same chassis as the C3 supermini? I test drove one of those last year and it was god awful. Bought a Fiesta instead
Citroen are built for comfort not racing, I found Fords and Vauxhall to be unreliable although nice to drive
Both Citroens and Renault have been reliable and comfortable except for the Captur as it has hard seats
Wat ziet die c3 er zielig uit vergeleken met de T-roc misschien iets duurder maar veel meer auto.
Crap review - I have an aircross and its gear change is perfectly fine
I thought SEAT are supposed to be the sporty, Spanish flair part of VW Group? The Arona is so dull and did I hear him mention scratchy plastics in the VW? They are EVERYWHERE!! So cheap looking. Not a huge fan of the C3 either but there is bias here!
Not exactly fair since SEAT is part of the Volkswagen/Audi Group. 2 against 1 and for some reason they weren't being unbiased either
As I can see, in England is totally normal to compare cheap and expensive cars by the same standards? Are you corrupted or disonest I can't decide?
Rubish verdict!
What Car is always biased towards French cars......
It is funny how people live in denial lol The T-roc is clearly the better vehicle at everything, the others only win in term of price.
Volkswagen is just absurd, why would you spend 5-10k euros more for Tiguan, T-Roc, when you can get Arona, Ateca or Karoq, Kodiak wich are all basically the same car. Its just stupid. xD
I think this is a bit of a joke. What do these guys now about cars.
Where's the Hyundai Kona?
A biased review based on brand snobbery. There are other videos that give more balanced and accurate reviews than this one. What Car are an elitist outfit that make people pay for their so-called superior reviews. Total waste of space.
Citroen C3 Aircross gear shift is just obsenely vague. The same goes, for the sterring which seems to be in a potato bag. Also the stop-start is just dumb. I had one as a rental car for a week and hated it to the core. A typical French car: funky outide and junky inside.
That Citroen is hideously ugly
DOOM! first
t-roc PLASTIK.
Citroen is soooo ugly ahahahahaha
I'd have the seat any day as my daily drive and I'd keep to our vw touran for the family, great video I really like that you compared the boot sizes as that a big thing some leave out
