MFT is not the issue, it's the photographer who thinks it is. Many pro shooters are using 100-400 lenses on MFT and they will mostly shoot at F8, with good technique. They're not afraid of a little noise either.
+Uncaged Well it's always the photographers issue as cameras need to revolve around their needs and skillset and the kind of stuff I do, this camera is probably the best of the options. This will change for everyone though
I can't understand all this snobbish around MFT systems. Yes, low light performance will be better in FF, hands down (higher ISO, better dynamic range, shadow retrieve etc). But, in good light conditions (e.g correctly exposed) the results are IDENTICAL. Also, in newer MFT bodies due to sophisticated In body IS you can shoot at very low SS. Btw, great lense (I have it). Images are very sharp (I used to shoot squirrels and you can distinguish every single one of their hair).
@@nikolaoslamprou9266 no amount of skill can make up for a lack of light in waning daylight. This is very clearly an equipment limitation, fixed by a larger sensor or a more expensive, larger f-stop lens. This is simply the price one pays for the convenience of a lightweight camera.
Kind of silly to complain about the speed of a 90-400mm equivalent lens that you got for super cheap don't you think? You can see what the Pan Leica 50-200mm costs for comparison sake. You should be able to work with ISO up to 3200 on MFT, depending on how old your camera is. All of the MFT bodies made in the past few years handle that ISO pretty well.
3200 is a bit too far unless you really don't care about a noisy image
@@RiversideTech I use 3200 regularly on my G9, noise is easily controlled. Going above that ISO it starts to quickly fall apart, but depending on editing could be useable.
Potentially the G9 can deal with the noise better than the G7 which was what I use
The lens you review in this video is version I (Mega OIS) while the link to "buy this lens" on Amazon is the version II with Power OIS that also works with Dual IS on Panasonic bodies such as G85 and G9. You should make it clear that this lens you are using is version 1 (really old lens) and have a link to purchase that lens rather than the version II which is misleading and many comments here have questioned which version you review. I doubt that you can even find version I new anywhere but just used since it is so old.
Hi! So, the version I (Mega) will work better with a G7? Thanks
@@robguevara7 I never tried version I with any of my bodies. I have used version II (Power OIS) with both my G7 and G85 and it gave excellent results. The older lens will be a bit cheaper but even the newer one can be bought at a decent price used, I got mine used from Adorama for $259 in 2017. This will explain some of the pros/cons a bit. www.camerastuffreview.com/en/review-panasonic-45-200mm-ii/
@@PatriciaGould Thanks a lot! I'm simply concluding that Power OIS is better than Mega OIS, right? The thing is that I'm not in the US and my best option is Amazon, and right now the version I is really cheap. Version II is not even avaiblable.
I'm just starting in photography, really reeeaally amateur, so I think I'm gonna go with the first one, but it's nice to have the info. Thanks again.
@@robguevara7 Yes, Power OIS will give better results than Mega OIS but we all need to start somewhere and it would be great for you to get the cheaper one on Amazon and maybe upgrade at a later date. That's what I've done with all my bodies and lenses. I don't think you will be disappointed.
@@PatriciaGould Great, thanks for the advice!
I know well executed work with 4/3 looks just as great as any DSLR output plus one can eliminate many extra pounds from the baggage by leaving N & C behind.
I miss focus most of the time on moving subjects
it works best i bright light with image stabilization off
Its super light
Is it worth to change my M. Zuiko 40-150 mm for this lens ? It is longer and have stabilization and I have Lumix so will it be good option ?
Nice video congrats.
Hi, do you think this good to my Lumix g7.thank you 🙂
Yes
will this panasonic lens stand in comparison with
Olympus M.Zuiko ED 40-150mm f4.0-5.6 R ? and which one is better ?
+Amogh Sail I have personally never used the Olympus lens but it won't be as zoomed in.
Oly on used market is 4x the cost. Just bought one of these for my ‘em-1. I understand there are some compatibility issues with CAF , but don’t have direct experience on that issue. I take mostly stills so foe me not an issue.

The Power OIS will work better on the G80/G85, the new G9 and the GH5 with the new OIS II system. If you can get a new body, try it out. Mine will be coming in about a week. Good video. Thanks.
Ok, you have the Mk.I version. The Mk. II iris control and comes equipped with the new OIS II system.
+BobToms100 Nice, let me know how it is. I'm probably going to move onto a Sony body next time anyway (A7S III)
Check out some footage with the 45-175mm which is also very very good:
ua-cam.com/video/M2McOnT8MD8/v-deo.html
It's a really good lens - even better then expected. It also supports Dual I.S. with lens update 1.3 !! I highly recommend it for 4k Video in combination with the Panasonic Lumix G81 / G85 or the G80
what u think of this one vs the 45-175 for the gx85?
I personally haven't used that lens but I definitely appreciate the extra 25mm on this one.
What camera you used recording this video and what lens did you used?
I used the Lumix G7 with 14-42mm lens. I now use the a7 iii with tamron 28-75mm f2.8. Which better by a rediculously big margin
@@RiversideTech well a $500 camera vs a $2000 camera shouldn't be anywhere near the same as far as quality and results goes.
@@RiversideTech This guy disagrees ua-cam.com/video/x8kk3GyRnmQ/v-deo.html
Thanks! So this is the classic 45-200 and not the II? Do you know how this lens (IOS) will work together with the GH5 (DUALIS2?
+joris veldhuis I'm afraid I don't know - I'll have a little look around for you.
I have the version II of this lens paired with the G85 (IBIS) and the Dual IS works great.
I just purchased second hand 45-200 mega ios and I have no problem to use it with my Gh5s. All working fine 🙂 👌
Who are yeh who are yeh😂😂😂😂 micro 4thirds rules
what is the background music?
3:18 - well, that's awkward, I've just spent over £1000 on a MFT camera...
you wont regret !!!
do you have to manually extend it?
Yes, you do with all Lumix lenses
Not all. The Vario X lenses are power zoom that you can control from the camera without touching the lens. I recommend the 45-175. It's cheap and really sharp...
