    Thank you for showing us how to use it properly! I used to put a drop on every part of my face but i guess it was too much and I also applied it when you said not to 😅 that’s very helpful! • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet

      Hey! :)
      Well, this can work; however, depending on how your skin tolerates this treatment (or skincare treatments in general), it may lead to irritation, as it might be too much for the skin. Therefore, using a bit less can often get the job done. Alternatively, consider using it less frequently throughout the week! :)
      Also, it's advised to use the Vitamin C Suspension in the evening, as Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), especially in such a concentrated form, can easily oxidize in sunlight and heat, potentially causing dark patches on the skin.

      We do not know because there is no reference for this. Additionally, it depends on your personal skin tolerance for both products. However, you do not necessarily need to increase the strength. In my experience, the lower strengths are just as effective as the higher ones, especially if you plan to use them for a longer period.

    I accidentally used this with “buffet” before seeing the end 😢 what would happen then? Is it much harm if it was only the once?
    Also i have the multi peptide eye serum, I see I can’t use time together either but i need both- how can i use them both but in a safer way? different times of the day etc? thanks in advance xx

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  11 місяців тому

      No, the recommendation is merely a precautionary measure, meaning that both treatments can be used together. However, because they can be very potent, using them simultaneously may lead to irritation over time since it might be too much for the skin to tolerate.
      You can simply apply the multi-peptide eye serum on the eye contour. Then, when using the granactive retinoid, just avoid that area. This way, you are not overusing these treatments :)

    hi melissa, i hope you are well. you have been so far the dermatologistgist who i cannot afford to see! however i have another question...
    i have been using the Granactive retinoid 2% emulsion, worked quickly up to every night. been nearly 2 months. i have been quite impressed but knoww that it will take 4-6 months for full effects. i am greedy and i was wishing for a 5% in the same product as i was certain the squalane one would break me out.
    i just saw that the ordinary brought out the new retinal emulsion 0.2% and immediately ordered 2 bottles because you can't get it in stores here in Australia yet and figured they'd sell out quickly online (plus needed to qualify for free postage lol).
    question is...do you think using the new one say three times a week and the other one the other days til i see how i tolerate it would be a good idea? or just the new one three times a week? and if i do tolerate it can i move to everyday like i use this one?
    thank you again for your help melissa. you are a very generouss soul.

      Generally, the Granactive Retinoid can work with Glycolic Acid, especially if you do not experience any sensitivities. However, it's not recommended to use them together long-term as people tend to use these products for months or even years. Therefore, you may come across sensitivities at some point. Hi 👋...which is more potent between this and 0.025% tretinion

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  2 роки тому +2

      It's difficult to directly compare the potency of different retinoids, as they have different mechanisms of action and can affect the skin in different ways. Granactive Retinoid 2% is a newer form of retinoid that is thought to be less irritating than traditional retinoids like tretinoin, but may still have similar effects on the skin.
      That being said, tretinoin is a very well-studied and effective retinoid, and it is often considered the "gold standard" for treating fine lines, wrinkles, and acne. In general, tretinoin is considered to be more potent than other retinoids, but it also has a higher potential for irritation and can cause dryness, flaking, and sensitivity.
      The effectiveness of a retinoid also depends on a number of other factors, such as the formulation, the concentration, and how it is used. So while it's difficult to say whether Granactive Retinoid 2% is more or less potent than 0.025% tretinoin, both can be effective for improving the appearance and texture of the skin.

      Well, nobody knows how quickly it degrades, and it also depends on where you've stored it. For instance, if you live in a hot country and you simply leave it on the shelf, it's very likely that it will lose its efficacy quickly. However, if the place where you stored it is somewhat cooler, it's less likely to degrade as rapidly. So, it really depends on the storage conditions. Therefore, when you get a new one, it's advisable to store it in the fridge.

      Yes, it's generally safe to continue using salicylic acid on areas of the skin with blackheads, even if you're using a retinoid as well. However, it's important to be mindful of potential irritation or sensitivity, as both salicylic acid and retinoids can be drying and harsh on the skin if overused or if the skin is not used to these ingredients.
      To minimize the risk of irritation or sensitivity, you could try using the salicylic acid and retinoid on alternate days or at different times of day. Retinoids like granactive retinoid work by increasing skin cell turnover, which can help to unclog pores and promote the growth of new, healthy skin cells. However, in the initial stages of treatment, this increased cell turnover can cause a buildup of dead skin cells and oil in the pores, leading to pimples and other blemishes.
      It's important to note that this initial breakout is typically temporary, and should subside as the skin adjusts to the retinoid. This process can take several weeks or even a few months, so it's important to be patient and consistent with your use of the product.
