Oh my gosh, I remember having breakfast in that Woolworths! My Dad and I would rent bikes early in the morning, ride the boardwalk and then stop at Woolworths for breakfast at the cafeteria in the back of the store! Thanks for posting this, brings back a wonderful memory.
A fixture at the front door of the Woolworth location was " The Hum-a-zoo Man", a peddler selling a kazoo based instrument. Along the side wall of the restaurant area was a photo mural of the pre 1980's AC Boardwalk skyline that occupied the entire wall. Surely lost during the demolition of the building. The former Ripley's exhibit that opened c.1980's was once the Mc Crory's location, part of another Dime Store chain lost to history.
I was there and I'd like to say i saw them too but I was only 8 and couldn't see over all the screaming girls. I heard them, somewhat, every so often, when the screams died down, but they didn't die down for long.
If you were a kid in the 50’s and 60’s Atlantic City was a magical place! Kohr’s Custard, James Salt Water Taffy, White House Subs, Hi Hat Joes, Chelsea Beach, Captain Starnes Inlet!
The pier as it looked after the 1962 storm rebuild. The front marquee area remained much the same until the so called 1976 remodel which wrapped the front in [later] highly flammable vinyl siding and eliminated the last of the 1930's-1950's era signage. As with any Pre - 1978 AC footage, the easiest way to compare the visuals is to say- GONE. In the footage seen here, only the Central Pier, seen in half shadows, remains in more or less its original condition of the 6 piers that once lined the Boardwalk . The Heinz Pier was destroyed in a 1944 storm, the rest have disappeared since the 1980's. The opening shot is taken from the south corner of the later demolished Steeplechase Pier. What has happened in AC since legal gambling arrived in 1978 is the near total demolition of Boardwalk frontage largely to accommodate casino construction. One would have to have committed to memory all of the boardwalk facing structures to know what is still standing today. The Steel Pier burnt to the ground in the early 1980's. Years later, another pier was erected on the site and operates as "Steel Pier". Except for its location, the current structure has NO association with the original pier and beyond carnival rides, offers none of the original attractions that made the old Steel Pier "The Showplace Of The Nation" and "A Vacation In Itself" from 1898 to 1978.

After doing some research, the film is from Easter Sunday, March 29, 1964. Bobby Rydell's appearance was in the Press for that date.
