Jack, gangs will always try to use jail as a recruiting mechanism because they are surrounded by a bunch of criminals. Mark is exactly right though. If you make it really tough and miserable to be a gang member, it will be harder for gangs to convince people to join them because there is no merit. Gang life is just not worth the risk of getting heavily punished when caught. Soft on hand is what gives a gang life a merit. You get instant reward (fun, money, feeling powerful, etc) by joining a gang, and even if you get caught, you just get a slap on the wrist. You are out in no time and back to your gang life. That makes gang life very attractive. If you hear that your gang neighbour or uncle went to jail 20 years ago for criminal activities and that person is still never to be seen, joining a gang won’t sound very attractive to you. That’s how you deter people from engaging in criminal activities. Punishment has to be much bigger than the reward.

If a person is doing public service to the people should get there own home so they dont worry about a home.
Where does the government get their statistics about gangs from? 🤔 How do they know that gang membership has increased? How do they know that prospects MUST commit a violent crime to get their patch? 🤔... If they can't provide sources of their information then wouldn't that be MISinformation? 🤨
The sources and study is in the report. It's the first time they've been counted, so increase of number is conjecture.
Why do you think crime rate is increasing ? Is there are any prescriptions?
Reason cost of living
Pub gambling & Drugs These are the creation of violence
Harsher punishments might not deter people from joining gangs but they will deter everyone including gangstas from doing crime.
Why bother joining the police in nz just get exploited, paid crap it’s not even a good job 52k per year what crap pay for a job where your so hated and undervalued by the community
You know why doesn't any government come up with the idea of declaring certain Public Jobs like(not in any order) Police/Fire/Ambulance/Nurses/Military as First Responders and cut their taxes to 10% added to their increase in pay. Is that so hard to think of being pro active and having faith by doing that-not in NZ you have to pay taxes in full!!! And that's both governments!!!
Does lowering taxes for landlords lower rents?
Tougher laws, longer sentences, bring back national service,
Weak judges weak police theres your problem l
There was a time when the Army would be brought in to maintain order. We are there now with these gangs. Our police "force" is lacking...force!
Back on the streets and walking around. AUCKLAND city has had to spend money wardens to reduce the risk of crime . So the minister is not accurate with his statement. When I was a kid in the 1960s in Glen Innes . I often saw a policeman walking around shopping centre. But since 1980 no sign.
Jack, perhaps you want to stop interrupting the interviewee every 5 seconds.
Its hard labour spent all the money and police want a pay rise helo
Labour also spent a lot of money trying to address pervious National led government's messes -underfunding state housing for example and we are still paying the price of the leaky building debacle that National caused in the 90's.
Not to mention a 3-year world plandemic and a national weather disaster SMH! C'mon Perry, think!
They HAD the money for it, and to pay for kiwi’s dental visits. National chose to spend it giving landlords free interest, while borrowing 15 billion more to pay for it.
Jack Tame is insufferable always interrupting and just tryna play devils advocate without real intent of finding out answers. Just tryna get a trendy gotcha soundbite. Was the media ever so critical of labour? Didn’t think so
Tames another little Marxist
What rubbish the guy would dance around any answers he is useless all mouth and no trousers.
Yes they were, are you stupid or trying to rewrite history? There’s clips on this very channel with them taking Labour to task. One at the end of this show.
Stop acting americanized with their tribal politics, cause you look stupid trying to lie about something like that when the answer is one click away. Also, if the guy didn’t take 4 minutes and STILL didn’t answer the question, Tame wouldn’t have to be so hard on him.
The reason because Mark wasn't answering the basic questions he was asked.
@@allanlange2263 jack never lets them finish their point before moving on to the next one just countering for the sake of appeasing the woke audience. Has ever given swarbrick or any left wing party half the trouble??
Warning‼️once the treaty has been voided humanity will be done to no return😮
To paraphrase 'As a government we will do what we want irrespective of expert advice'. This doesn't bode well in respect to their Fast Track Consenting process.
Lol 😅😅😅 bullshit artist in action
Seriously inept "minister"
Please get this left wing shrill off the TV,
Please go back to your bridge and stop trying to interact with people. No one likes you being a tosser to everyone. No one likes you period, we had a meeting.
...Unpaid rightwing shill
Jack Tame got the hard word for being soft on Erica Stanford 😂
Sick of hearing about the last 6 years.......n Sydney alone has a population of 6 million to our 5 million
Police are cool at home the council office said you are home now i know we have highly trained tactical responce units that assist locals if in trouble they even dropped food off to my mom during COVID to all seniors citizens in Te Kuiti
So how does a rapist get away with crime due to evidence damage from investigators how do i as the victim get justice
One of the worst interviews Jack has done. Instead of trying to show off you know stats. How about trying to learn about the person you are interviewing instead of getting some kind of gotcha. Yawn.
You are literally advocating for lying.... Wow. And even bitching that other's don't accept the clear lies.
Who will choose to live near the new prison?
Oh Dear, Bless.
Gee Jack if only you pushed the Labour govt Ministers who put the country in this situation ! I hope you can see why the over whelming majority of country don't trust the legacy media.
Hopefully with the media given the boot Jack is gone.
He asks politicians from both sides hard questions, it's just that the current government ministers struggle to answer.
You gonna resign too
Jack, you are stupid to ask how heavier sentencing would deter people from joining gangs. It is a common sense. If the punishment for speeding is death sentence, would you speed??? Just use your commonsense. You don’t need evidence for this logic.
Wages so low
makes it more dangerous without patches not knowing?just a cover for what they really intend to do is class everyone else has gang related too but not?polyneians will be vulnerable to attacks by police👮govt approval
Jack needs to listen. He doesn’t do a thing to help New Zealand.
Why listen to proven, on air lies? "No evidence"?
Mark…when Tame says….”why did such and such a person says this”…Mark needs to simply say…”you would have to ask them”😂😂
Why when he spent the last year and a half saying they “speak for kiwi’s”...?
Well, for all kiwi’s but cops and everyone who didn’t vote for them
Mark needs to constantly go back to the last question…dont let Jack make a fool of him☹️
He made a fool of himself. “They said there’s no clear evidence that increasing-”
“So they said there’s no evidence?”
“No, I never said there’s no evidence-”
“They did. They said, “There is no evidence to prove…”

Why is Jack Tame so rude to this minister?
Because he won't answer questions.
Because Jack is a left wing woke nerd.
@@dd2451 Simple he won't answer the questions or doesn't know the answers
Because Mitchell is so dumb unbelievable dumb
Why do you think he is rude?
Wider social issues ! So minister agrees with D Lange.
Jack still s😅ays kiao ora. Speak english, this belittles you!
Kiwis might feel safer, but I don't.
Reciuted to gangs or left a gang! Why does he not have any thought on matter?
They are on remand for to long! Why are people on remand for so long?
Because there is a backlog of cases in the courts
Mate just answer the question
No
I love marks attitude towards gangs, nz needs that
Same old story, Muldoon was going to tackle the gangs in the 70s, yea right, just a smoke screen. Boring old school National party failed policies.
Jack: “you haven’t answered my question, yes, or, no”. Voice inside Jack’s head: “I’m so cool. Look how I can make this politician squirm by interrupting him with repeated questions that he can’t answer, like, I’m thinking of joining a gang, how’s that policy going to stop me?”
Mitchell: “I can’t answer that”. Voice inside Mitchell’s head: “Jack, do you seriously believe any gang is going to want to recruit a woke tosser like you to be seen wearing their patch around in public?”
More like he’s thinking “Why can’t you just answer the fucken question and stop wasting my time!” Or even “Why’s this asshole lying to me when he can see I have the quotes from the police right here?”
Its great at home New Zealanders know how that working together we set a example unmached to sny business that i have worked for in Australia no fucking joke
Fascists
Stop geoengineering NZ skies. Everyday.
nutter.
Why is Jack suddenly worried about the bill of rights when it comes to gangs but not when
Labour was mandating vaccines and lockdowns?
Mark is a bit thick….he’s allowing himself to play Tames game😏
Interview as sustained heckle.
Imagine how lost Jack would be if he didn't have his pre-prepared questions
National all talk
Is jack concieling a black eye?
No, you’re just using american-styled bully tactics to discredit him for asking basic questions
Mitchell needs to go back to leftist agenda interview school….he needs to outsmart the lefty agenda interviewer….too much time on defense…needs to attack and talk over Jack like Jack does to him
I counted at least 4 times he shouted over Tame when he was asking him to actually ask the question instead of hitting his anecdotal talking points
As far as law and order goes for this government they are doing a better job than the previous government and understandable with the debt that was left to them makes it harder however the tax cuts to Landlords supposably to stop rents going up is highly unlikely. Landlords can put their rents up whenever they want to. 2.9 billion could have been spent better elsewhere.
Listen to debate 1987 between the PM and leaders of the opposition. Crime section.
They have done nothing in 6 months and crime is far worse.
@jasoncarey1944 in six months, not Acton on social issues and police reactive in most cases. Police need be there to make robbery had. What about burglars!
