@UlfilasNZ True, I'd think he'd be prepared on the numbers related to policy, but how do you answer a question like "How many people will receive care?" The numbers from today to tomorrow will differ, but yes, he should at least have had some vague numbers. Instead he refused to use vague numbers like with the "How many gang members in prison?" He explained that corrections couldn't give a definitive number. We've heard the palava about his member using the "you" phrase and he's explained it many times. We've all heard about He Poa Poa and he's explained about Jackson many times. I didn't know about the "vaccine post" but it seems he's explained it and corrected many times. Jack's interview, to me, was a nothing new burger delivered in a way that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

What a disgusting interview by Jack Tame with his arrogant approach and as he thought 'gotcha' questions not allowing Winston Peters to answer, cutting him off and then making up figures on hypothetical percentages. The public appreciate hearing from interviewees, and Jack your not the star of the show the interviewee is. Coming up against Winston Peters showed Jack up for the absolute petty and immature naivety that he exhibited. Peter Williams is a pro and interviewed Winston Peters and it was a great interview, watch and learn Jack!
TVNZ, having a competent respectful interviewer would have been appreciated. Jack made this so painful! Don’t think I’ll tune into one of his interviews again 🤯
He is asking him if he even knows the numbers associated with his pie in the sky policies.. He clearly does not even know how much his policies would cost.
I've usually been a fan of Jack Tame, but this was a terrible interview. It was clear that he came prepared to specifically throw shade on Winston. Half of his questions weren't about policy but about past incidents. Even the policy questions were poorly constructed. - Nobody knows how many inmates are involved in gangs. That number would be constantly changing. He could have asked for a ballpark answer, but his exact number would be terribly inaccurate. Plus there are lots of levels. Are you heavily involved, not so much, just in it to survive? It's a terrible question. To estimate the costs would also be tough, because things are constantly changing. How many government projects do we have that say a budget of 10m then it blows out to 40million. - Aged care question was also silly. As Winston said, the number of people who can enter aged care relies heavily on the amount of workers available. His goal is to help get more workers which will then open up spots for people to get care. - His point about the co-governance quote using the word 'you', umm can someone tell Jack Tame what personification is...SMH NZF is hoping to be a coalition partner. They don't get to decide the exact levels of what they want to spend tax money on, but what they can do is say these are our policies and we will negotiate on how much money we need to help these policies. Jack was super aggressive and it was unnecessary. I'm surprised Winston didn't walk out.
Winston seemed ill prepared. Jacks done this to all the leaders of all parties (major and minor) so his style shouldn’t had caught someone as experienced as Winston so badly off as it did .. I think it’s fair that minor parties shouldn’t be put under the same level of scrutiny as the two major ones but Winston barely managed to pivot to talking points and couldn’t spit out a statistic to save his life..
Knowing Jack I think he would've been far more prepared than came across, but would've had to really cut down on how much depth he went in to when he realised how little Winston Peters was able to discuss his own policies
- if you dont know how many people in prison are in gangs, how do you know how big the prison should be? - asking about the amount is actually pretty reasonable given the unclosed financial hole in national's (peters' likely coalition parter) tax plan to ensure that the costing has been accounted for - winston has been changing his story on this quote since the leader's debate; originally, it was talking about "māori elite", but now he's rescinded that and said that his member was talking about "co-governance". you have to agree, it makes a lot more sense to use the word "you" if you're talking about people, not an abstract concept like co-governance

"much less than it is costing now" there you go, Do your ears filter anything out that isn't a definitive fiscal number? Because I heard Winston try to explain particularly what the costs would be, the purpose being that the cost would be apparent to us all and the logic can be followed rationally, you know working as a team sort of? And, you have no critique of Jack for interrupting Winston when he's in the middle of explaining the very answer you would have me believe you would like to know? 😅
Such a disrespectful and vexatious interview. I wanted to get answers not to hear the sound of Tame's voice fancying himself a "tough" interviewer. Instead of getting answers he just antagonised Peters who was not allowed to get a word in edgeways and so we are none the wiser. It is irrelevant whether people watching this car wreck of an interview supported or did not support NZF. What mattered was that we watched this to find out more but instead we heard Tame acting as accuser and executioner. . That did not serve the audience, it was as Peters said, a total waste of everybody's time. .
I've listened to Jack Tame before and I find him rude, he wanted to appear as a tough hard hitting interviewer and comes off as needing maturity. What a pity I wanted to listen to Winston. Jack Tame and TVNZ what a waste of tax payers money........ Exactly
It’s pretty clear that WP hasn’t thought through fairly basic numerical facts about his own policies. The reason you didn’t get answers (to the questions jack asked) was because WP couldn’t answer them! When he’s questioned and can’t answer he starts making accusations of fake news or saying Jack is incompetent and threatening him with defunding. I don’t see how that isn’t concerning? It’s literally the job of the media / journalists to make sure politicians are held accountable to their claims.
@@jpdenford1473I was just about to say the same thing. Jack is a sharp journalist. He does his homework and he sticks to his guns on the question until he gets a straight answer, or the politician slips and admits they don't have one. We need more like him imo..
Whilst I agree with many of your points I am still of the opinion that the manner in which the questioning was done, the tone of it was very disturbing. It is still possible to pursue truth without making that pursuit sound like the Inquisition. Disrespect towards other people, regardless of their position, politicians or not, whether you agree with their point of view or not, especially in a such a public forum, legitimises such conversation, particularly when accepted and condoned. It encourages others to behave like that in other areas of life too, get their way by shouting and atempting bullying tactics. I have seen political interviews in the past by tough, intelligent journalists, who did not give up the pursuit of answers when deflected by tactics of interviewees. They were persistent, did not let things slide or let the interviewee get away with not answering, but I have not witnessed this kind of approach which not only did not provide answers (whether due to Peters not being in possession of that information or due to his not being given the opportunity to explain why such estimates might be inaccurate.... ) but created a very unpleasant atmosphere. Re the throw away comment at the end by Peters, it was not a smart one and he realised it as soon as it passed his lips; but I suspect it arose out of sheer frustration of how the interview was conducted, not actually a promise of retaliation...

"How many gang members are there in prison" isn't an open ended question when Peters said he'll build a prison for all the gang members in prison. If he can't answer the first part of the question, he can't answer any followups, and it makes it a stupid fucking policy.

I supported Labour and Greens for twenty years, believing myself a die-hard liberal - until two years ago after passing through the veil of cognitive dissonance into the truth. No need to elaborate to any genuinely thinking person on the many, egregious and readily apparent reasons. Many, like me, were euphoric when Labour 'won' the election, courtesy of Winston. Unfortunately what ensued especially in Labour's second term has been profoundly damaging to this country and a great many of its people. Labour bought out MSM with taxpayer's money, and the consequent overall dishonest, stupidly pro-left and shallowly unintelligent level of journalism and reporting; which a friend rightly said is, "like the fish paying for the bait." As a believer in true democracy, I can never favour one vote holding more political weight than another, nor for a public broadcaster to blatantly support one political grouping - with taxpayer's money no less. Everyone in this country deserves far better than this overtly petty, attack-dog style of interviewing of any candidate standing for parliament wanting to determine the future of our country and lives. These are important decisions to be made by each one of us. Yet, here we are, having to endure Jack Tame proving his lack of democratic mettle as well as displaying his political allegiance. I am deeply troubled by the damage the current Labour government has done to this country, to many of its key institutions and the obvious collapse of journalistic integrity of MSM and our public broadcaster.

I didn't know about the "vaccine post" but it seems he's explained it and corrected many times. haha "if you would calm down for a second, take a Valium" that's gold :)
- His point about the co-governance quote using the word 'you', umm can someone tell Jack Tame what personification is...SMH
NZF is hoping to be a coalition partner.
Knowing Jack I think he would've been far more prepared than came across, but would've had to really cut down on how much depth he went in to when he realised how little Winston Peters was able to discuss his own policies
lol what were you watching? Winston continuously was offensive. Jack Tame was asking straight questions. Jake asks hard questions for all Parties.
- if you dont know how many people in prison are in gangs, how do you know how big the prison should be?
- asking about the amount is actually pretty reasonable given the unclosed financial hole in national's (peters' likely coalition parter) tax plan to ensure that the costing has been accounted for
- winston has been changing his story on this quote since the leader's debate; originally, it was talking about "māori elite", but now he's rescinded that and said that his member was talking about "co-governance". you have to agree, it makes a lot more sense to use the word "you" if you're talking about people, not an abstract concept like co-governance
@xanderpritchard8099 Bullshit all Woke assed Tame did was copy tv3s interview last night. Go have a watch of the interview Hadid with Shaw after this one, Oh it didn't matter that shaw couldn't give figures Tame was busy kissing his Woke ass while reaching round giving him a hand job.

The audacity of the host here is immense, asking dishonest and manipulative questions, then not allowing an answer.
Why does the host act as if he is authoritative? I'll smoke the kids jaw if he treated me thus
Asking the costing of your policy isn't manipulative as a taxpayer I would like to know the answers to this question don't you?
"much less than it is costing now" there you go,
Do your ears filter anything out that isn't a definitive fiscal number?
Because I heard Winston try to explain particularly what the costs would be, the purpose being that the cost would be apparent to us all and the logic can be followed rationally, you know working as a team sort of?
And, you have no critique of Jack for interrupting Winston when he's in the middle of explaining the very answer you would have me believe you would like to know? 😅
Go WP cant wait until TVNZ is restructured
Such a disrespectful and vexatious interview. I wanted to get answers not to hear the sound of Tame's voice fancying himself a "tough" interviewer. Instead of getting answers he just antagonised Peters who was not allowed to get a word in edgeways and so we are none the wiser. It is irrelevant whether people watching this car wreck of an interview supported or did not support NZF. What mattered was that we watched this to find out more but instead we heard Tame acting as accuser and executioner. . That did not serve the audience, it was as Peters said, a total waste of everybody's time. .
Sad thing is these young ones all about identity media stars it’s sad no truths or fair media anymore

Another aggressive interviewer working for a woke Rainbow Tick corporation. It's time that Jack Tame learned how to properly interview people.
If asking basic questions about policy is aggressive, you should move to the USA where opinion is more important than fact. Then you can fellate Trump and co. while he ignores your every criticism as "fake news".
We are desparate for competent people in the press. We are afflicted with opinionated members of the press ,TV and radio. Reporting of the facts is a thing of the past.....sad
you're delusional mate
I noticed this american style ( 4th estate ). Is being pushed by ppl who have specifically come here to undermine anything not of usa interests .
It seems we've gone from pixie dust to bull dust in space of one election cycle.
Defund TVNZ, if they are as good as they think they are they will survive, if not by by.
@anthonygray7828 Isn't to make a profit? Jack Tame, a B-grade journalist is paid $390,000 per year of taxpayers' money. I would like to see good journalism, not some Labour-funded, bureaucratic-elitist bullcrap.
@@StellaHoylesit's shocking that he's paid that much.
It wasnt defunding it was the extra pay off they got to only say what govt wants them to@anthonygray7828
omg so thats where our hard earned money goes time for mighty big change@@StellaHoyles
Jack asked Winston questions regarding his own policy, inturn Winston became defensive and proceeded to deflect.
Govt backed media trying m their hardest to discredit anyone that won’t keep them on the payroll
Nasty interview, interesting to see if he gives Labour that treatment?
He won't. Labour gave his employer money during covid. So in his mind. He won't make his boss look bad in front of the people who gave his boss money to pay Jack's wages.
He already has m.ua-cam.com/video/b_itOD7mc3g/v-deo.html
No he can’t ask Labour as they are his employers paymaster.
Coming from someone who answers questions straight, its quite impressive listening to someone who pathologically doesn't.
Let me answer your question by asking you one. Does any politician ever answer a straight question? 😂
I reject the premise of the question - Jacinda Ardern
At least if NZ first gets in coalition deal with National, they will put the handbrake on a few of Nationals policies and schemes that are not going to be good for this country
Wouldnt it be good if he beat both the main parties
Wonder if he’ll ask Shaw lots of probing questions about why he lied about his CV?
His interview with Shaw straight after this totally showed his far leftie bias, totally different tone etc etc … unfortunately real journalism is long gone on MSM inNZ …
Perhaps you need to remember Winston's lied about the Glen issue & donations
TVNZ love the Greens too much to do that.
Didn't you watch the first leaders debate when Chris Luxton clearly stated that fuel won't increase in price during his term of leadership,so obviously he is an out & out liar,or he will be replaced by Nicola straight after election,or there will be another election within a month
JACK TAME IS BRILLIANT... COURAGEOUS... DETERMINED... KNOWLEDGEABLE AND WELL-INFORMED... THANK YOU, JACK TAME, FOR KEEPING US, THE PEOPLE, INFORMED...
Jack for one year in south Auckland
Keep it up NZ media, all these obnoxious biased interviewers are helping Winston.
I don't like this young man, I definitely vote NZ FIRST
So emotional and defensive
the media has lost the plot...this gotcha regressive stly of journalism is outdated pointless most politicians will jst plead plausible deniability ....jst ends in a zero sum game were the audience is none the wiser
Yeah winston peters was so defensive. Jack didn't give up with his important questions tho, shame Winnie can't answer anything straight up
I'm no fan of Winston Peters but this interviewer was being overly aggressive.
@@benrobinson375 Winston was the only doing the threatening did you watch the end when he threaten Jack Tame of losing his job if he gets into power?
@@benrobinson375 Jack Tame is just an intense interviewer, all of his guests get the treatment. I admire Jack for being tough on these politicians and trying to get more than empty words from them
That was a classic old dog cocking his leg lol
Great work Jack. Calling Winston out on his BS. Says one thing on the campaign trail, gets into government & does another. A professional snake.
I could not perservere watching this. Minor parties will not have everything costed. He could have been given a chance to express his policies. We are so close to the elections, Jack could have prioritised listeners and let us actually hear Winston Peters speak.
I agree
But media doesn't respect New Zealanders enough to let us decide for ourselves
Wasn't interested in listening at all, only preloading his next defamatory question/ accusation
Exactly. Tane's line of questioning was purposefully antagonistic. He has the respect of a gutter mouse and the questions served absolutely no purpose except to foster support for Labour and away from NZF. I think it might have backfired ...
JT was doing doing what his puppet masters want him to do but the public know this and see through it
Tane was trying hard to be the attack dog for Labour. It back fired big time, at least he didn't have the dumb look on his face that he had with the interview with Waititi .
Go NZ FIRST.
Agree 100%
Absolutely embarrassing from Jack. He really thinks people don’t hide information from others? 😂
Doing himself a disservice
It's hard as the very show he's on has received money from labour. So he can hardly be fair when it comes to leaders from other party's
Tames just another talking head he's a shock joker looking for one upping smug prik
They are doing that now, prisoners have been building small homes and prefabs
Why do you have a Nazi profile pic lol

TVNZ please retrain and review Jack Tame's contract as he clearly is not fit for this role on Q+A.
TVNZ encourages this shit its part of Labours big payoff to Mainstream media to be their proper gander machine and after October 14 I'll bet they jump ship to suck up to Woke Chri-cinda Lux-dern for another pay out to be Nationals proper gander machine.
Honest Mainstream media is a thing of the past
All these NZ first supporters so angry 😂
It's a fair comment. I feel like if a potential prime Minister cannot answer clearly to simple questions, to a journalist and while in campaign, imagine his response - or lack of - to a population in disagreement once in power. We actually need to be able to understand their own proposal of governance therefore we need them all to answer questions and in good manner
The true cost of building more prisons is very hard the truly evaluate. Maybe more prisons equals lower crime, which encourages more tourism, highly skilled immigrants to emigrate and stimulates our economy.
This was so well said
Jack is a school boy, with such arrogance...he needs to go back to school..and remember what journalism really is...make no mistake..journalism is finished and jack just proved it...never want to watch jack at work ever again....winston has got it right media is corrupt..
How? In the first 5 minutes if this interview Jack was asking valid questions that Winston could not answer or even just admit he doesn't know rather than keep insulting or arguing with Jack
@@crystalpetterson9389I wouldn't bother arguing with boomers that can't even use punctuation properly. It is truly disheartening to see anyone side with Wynston when all he did was ad hominem attacks for the entire interview.
An ad hòminem ( of an argument ) directed against a person
I haven't even finished watching this and Winston isn't doing a bad job of ripping Jack a new one. 🤣
we clearly aren't watching the same video... I'm seeing an old man refuse to answer questions.
Jack doing a good job can u do better.
Imagine you nut cases run Jack down,if you can't answer then you don't understand

Almost decided to vote for this guy;As I don't like both the parties this time. The best way to punish is to make them deal with this guy 🤣
He keeps them honest.
@@PhoenixSunsNZhe'll keep them busy explaining what he said wasn't what he meant to say or how that it doesn't reflect their policies... 😂
This is BS adversarial journalism. This is gotcha journalism that serves no real value.
I’m no major fan of Winston but having looked at a range of his interviews with the others Tame is far more aggressive in this interview
There was no interview it was a hatchet job dictated by JT puppet masters
I've never seen a good interview when Jack Tame interviews Winston
Wouldn't even call it an interview. Jack is just rude and aggressive, trying to score points
Jack is just stupid and unnecessary aggressive. Yes, Jack, you are corrupt
Interesting.... I'd say he probably seems more aggressive because he's being met with hostility from Winston. I sometimes enjoy watching Winston speak, but I think what he did in this interview was BS. Rather than answering questions he just spoke over Jack for most of the time and was very uncomfortable to watch.
@maggigee6867 that's a loser take on the situation
Jack is deleting the comments defending Winston, hilarious 😂. Can’t take criticism and individuals exposing your blatant lies
I'm amazed Winnie didn't walk out on this interview
What a tool Jack is he's done this with every right wing leader. You can tell where his vote lies
Vote for Winston
Totally agree!
Hope Winston gets that portfolio 😅
