The kid in front of Joe at 48 to 52 secs with the leather bomber, white tee shirt and raised fist is me. I saw this on the dvd bonus bits recently and showed it to my son, who never believed that his old dad was a punk who had met the Clash and been to loads of their gigs. He couldn't deny it after seeing this. This gig ended with the riot you can see on the film. The band were moving further and further back as the crowd advanced until all four of them were on the drum platform. What a night!
Was there too - was 14. It was mental before WR and for a bit outside but most people left and the band came back out to chat to about 40/50 people and sign autographs - thanks to Johnny Green I got my White Riot sleeve signed by all and still have it.
I have a Fender electric guitar that I bought over a year ago and am trying to learn to play. Damn, just looking at this video and the band keeping their cool and calming the kids down. The Clash forever...
It was me. My mate is on the footage as well. I saw the vast majority of the punk bands at the time. The Clash were by far the best band I ever saw live as Joe was a great front man and Mick was a fantastic guitarist. I still play London Calling. I think there are songs on it like Rudie Can't Fail and Spanish Bombs, which still sound brilliant today. Sandinista varied in quality, probably because it was a triple album. As a double album, it would have been a classic.
The crowd always went wild for White Riot but I always loved the Clash version of Police and Thieves. The mixture of reggae and punk was always brilliant and there was no band better than the Clash when it came to playing that fusion.
@@AmiltonJr99 yea they redid the vocals and gtar...........the Pistols wouldnt give a shit hahaha..........the only band that mattered? rubbish not even in the top 10.....got their albums etc but this hero worship is ridiculous
@matedog2 Hi matedog2 - The reason for that is the Clash re-recorded the sound footage for all the live action in this movie. I seem to remember that there was something wrong with the actual sound recorded on the footage they had and so it was all re-recorded in a studio and made to sound live.
@currylord it good to see young people into the clash ,they seem to command more respect than the music that pre-dated us .i mean i wear clash/ramones t-shirt nowadays ,which i never did `back in the day` i often see young blokes/girls looking and they seem to be thinking `he might be old (i`m 50) but he`s OK.` what other bands did you see in dunfermline i imagine a lot of the bands only played glasgow/edinburgh,were`nt the skids from dunfermline?
@currylord - yeah, they didn't have the foresight to record off the board so all they had was the camera mic which was probably awful. It only bothers me a bit as the visual is so awesome.
@wtfjunkie I wonder what song was it, but i know they used a lot of reggae music before and after a concert (and not only they, when there was no punk records...)
The Kinema was brilliant cheap and nasty, always a fight, apart from the Clash, the band I saw the most there was the Stranglers who would keep the crowd waiting for ages while they put on a poor poet to get berated, young times
I mean half of their discography is just punk rock. They evolved their sound later on but kept the punk element so i don't know what you are talking about
jezz mate was that really u can i ask where they the best live shows of your life cause i would have given anything to see that band live, do u say there one of the best bands ever? oh and can i ask u about what u thought about them when albums like london calling and sandinista came out what did u think about them just wanted to know what fans thought back in them days?
Mind your hand on that PA, lad. If it falls over, it will kill everyone. Listen up, if you move back, I'll come forward, alright? Just move back a tough, (indistinct) people are really getting crushed. We'll move forward, you just move back a little bit. We ain't going anywhere, alright? Alright? Alright.
This is from Rude Boy. All the live shows were dubbed for the film. Quite authentically but none the less dubbed. Strummer and Jones would copy the moves by watching the projections and then re-record in the studio

beautiful times, no iphones, no possers, no bullshit
What a mess, I missed two euros to buy a ticket for their concert in Nice in 78 or 79, I still regret it

Classic. Iconic in look and sound. The band were just naturals in the creation of myth.
I have a Fender electric guitar that I bought over a year ago and am trying to learn to play. Damn, just looking at this video and the band keeping their cool and calming the kids down. The Clash forever...

Love the Bob Marley music in the background.
Andy Moss what song is it?

0:50-0:54, Mick takes his hand off the guitar yet you can still hear guitar. Ah well, it must have been awesome to be there.
it was reddubed for the Rude Boy movie, this is not the original track audio from guitar
well spotted
@@AmiltonJr99 yea they redid the vocals and gtar...........the Pistols wouldnt give a shit hahaha..........the only band that mattered? rubbish not even in the top 10.....got their albums etc but this hero worship is ridiculous

Call that a riot.
Last Glasgow Appollo gig was a riot
Check out THE WONDER YEARS.

And also I'm just stunned at the number of fans there. It's just too much to control. Yikes!!
@wtfjunkie
I wonder what song was it, but i know they used a lot of reggae music before and after a concert (and not only they, when there was no punk records...)
were does joe go after 1:49 ?
🇯🇵
What happened to the guy at the end of the video? he passed out or what?
The Kinema was brilliant cheap and nasty, always a fight, apart from the Clash, the band I saw the most there was the Stranglers who would keep the crowd waiting for ages while they put on a poor poet to get berated, young times
no doubt the venue has been demolished and now a block of flats?
perhaps joe should have sung donald wheres yours troosers , great footage thou
What's happening to the guy lying on the stage?
this is clearest i ever heard strummer ennunciate while singing...
Wow, the guy at the end of the video is Ray Gange..is this some original footage from Rude Boy ? Maybe something kept out from the movie?
I hate myself for being born in the 90's.
Their one true punk song. As good as the Clash were, it's a shame that they seemed to quickly move away from their punk sound.
They did manage to keep their integrity intact.
WTF? how much longer would they have lasted playing punk songs? they evolved.
The Clash where not punk, they where much much more...
@SuperPunk1995 Yeah after 1:49 Joe turns invisible
British at their best
Was that joe being carried away at the end?
NO
i wanna know what is saying joe at the start of this video.sorry my inglish im from argentina...please someone write ittttt
Mind your hand on that PA, lad. If it falls over, it will kill everyone. Listen up, if you move back, I'll come forward, alright? Michael Morris thank youuuu 😘

Long time since i viewed that
Yes it is
NUTHIN'!!!

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Good Good Rudie... The Clash did Rocksteady before the Skinhead revival and 2tone ;)
loempiavreter Thanks - I knew someone would answer eventually !

badges
Taken from Rude Boy. Great great fucking anthem....
@MrBloodDrive it was ska not reggae
2:20, 2:29, 2:50-3:10. - He is at every concert Clash... Who is it?
It’s Ray Gange, he was the actor in rude boy
@wiggedtroll Ha ha ha
sounds to me like bob marley
Nothin' ever!
You don't have to...
@guitargczr699 wtf. Just because you don't go to underground punk shows doesn't mean they don't exist.
God bless joe
nothing comes close these days
Nah, he still thinks I'm an old fart. I taught him how to play guitar though so watch this space.
It died along with true punk
what the fuck ever happened to this?! all you see now-a-days is posers on a giant stage with security behind fences beating people up
i hate you for that. im so jealous.
How come Brits talk so funny?
JizumChrust how do you mean
So clearly dubbed in post production, Strummer has no guitar, clearly two guitars on the track, and the guitar is playing when Jones isn't.
This is from Rude Boy. All the live shows were dubbed for the film. Quite authentically but none the less dubbed. Strummer and Jones would copy the moves by watching the projections and then re-record in the studio
its fake
i hate the music they make today...sugar coated mindless garbage!
Such bad overdubbing.
