Bangladesh is very diverse. Theres Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists. All religious holidays are celebrated which is so awesome. So you can imagine how many days everyone gets off haha. It is ethnically diverse such as Sylhet (northeast district) is very different from Dhaka (central district). Each speak in different dialects and often it sounds like different languages. There are ethnic tribes like Manipuri, Khasia etc. There are 6 seasons with different festivals for each season. So the food will be diverse. But you are not a Bangladeshi if you are born in Canada. You may be ethnically Bengali but try to accept the land where you were born and that has literally raised you. So trying to call yourself a Bangladeshi is like devaluing the people who are actually born and raised in Bangladesh and actually knows the culture and the land.

Bengali cuisine is the most varied richest in South Asia and beyond. Bangladesh (The Bengal Nation) is at the center of food/people/cultural/religious heritage of West, Central and East Asia.
Btw the reason u eat with your right hand is because as muslims aswell you distinguish your right hand to do the clean and you left hand for wiping. You wipe with your left (or scrubbing nutts, fingering women etc) and the clean eating (or handshakes, holding hands, caressing) with the right.

I am also a Bangladeshi.I have ate all these kinds of food. This video missed more Bengali foods like Polao,Salads,Fry illish fish,Bhaat,Borhun, and many many more!
Obviously not- that's why they're two different things with different names. But, buzzfeed wanted something similar for the viewers to understand what a roti is, and a tortilla is much more similar to a roti than naan bread.
Not naan bread, it’s simply called naan. Naan itself means thar form of thick bread. So when you are saying naan bread you are basically saying bread bread! 🙄
The reason why you eat with your right hand is because you clean your ass with the left one. I remember going to India when I was little and my cousins were like 'why are you eating with your left hand?'. Kinda embarrassing, but hey you learn! NO one uses toilet tissue roles... I always have to buy one when I travel back to India!
Did I state I use my left hand to wipe my anus? NO! I said I use toilet tissue paper. Plus I wash my hands with soap after. I think that's hygienic enough. What does the colour of my skin have to do with my hygiene and if you think your 'superior' due to your light skin colour, you're not. I don't wish to say anything more to an ignorant, rasict and a hauty person like you. Ciao.
***** Glad to see that you sir have some common sense since the reason why Bengali people eat with the right hand it because of their religion which is Islam.
but over here in Bangladesh...we crave for Fast food like KFC, Pizza Hut etc etc.... and lemme remind you we dont have Starbucks, Burger Kings, Taco Bell or In 'N' Out... #sadlife
People are upset that this is racist, I personally don't see it. I think it's a well known instance that some cab drivers happen to be born outside of the US. As with any other job, but this is relevant. If Henry and Mike were saying something like "We;re gonna find an Indian cabbie and make him take us to eat his weird food", then they would be racist. The whole idea of the series is wanting to try food from other areas of the world. My only problem is that they didn't buy any food for Shaik. I personally like this episode more than some of the older ones because they actually took the time to get to know someone, as well as the food they enjoyed. I'd like to see more of this in-depth video because I personally like learning about a world outside of my own. Racist? No. Educational/entertaining? Yes, definitely.
You go girl! Thats the perfect response to people who are calling this video 'racist'. I'm from Bangladesh and i see nothing racist about this video at all. Rather it's step forward for many who may not know about our culture.
I'm from Bangladesh. Our food tastes really good. There are a lot of foods I don't like but goat meat biryani is the best! I can't believe they made them try Elish fish. There are a lot of other good fishes out there that don't have a lot of bones that are really good. But Elish is one of my faves. The way to eat it is to cut the middle part and eat the top part so you don't eat a lot of bones. I'm so happy they tried Bangladeshi food! I feel like people know our country. :)
I love how when people say Indian food, they don't back up Pakistan or Bangladesh, but when people wanna say Bangladeshi cuisine, or Pakistani cuisine, people cannot sit down but scream HEY THIS IS INDIAN FOOD TOO. Cmon guys. Let us have our moment. Yes, our foods do differ a bit. I know a whole bunch of Pakistani foods that don't exist in Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi food is non other than Indian food, Bangladesh become independent not so long ago and it's within Indian sub continent. They share same culture values etc... The west Indian food is much different than east Indian food, but still the "Indian spicy" taste is very much present. Indians/Bangladeshi foods prepared only to be eaten by hand, they believe a spoon or stick in middle may cause foods rather tasteless, and I think it's true! No wonder Burgers and other fast foods are becoming dominant all over the world. Maximum so called Indian restaurant in UK in fact owned and serves Bangladeshi food! Many celebraties often go to these restaurants not just to taste exotic food but they become big fan...I don't understand why it's exotic food in America! Tanduri chicken, and that goat biriyani is my favorite but I like boneless fish curry too...although I am Chinese. * They do serve boneless fish. There's a good number of videos of that preparation on youtube. These guys took that dangerous(!) fish to make this video more interesting. It really taste good but always pick the boneless one.
April R I think that's what I mentioned, and yes they do eat beef just as others consume mutton. Bangladeshis enjoy fish a lot like their Hindu counterpart in west Bengal.
Conner Miles we're talking about food not politics. And you're wrong bangladesh separated from Pakistan back in 1971. But in China this country also known as *Manjala* for more than 2000 years.
+dilz2012 Right??! I find that really rude to take time away from someone and not get him some food too, I apologize +buzzfeedyellow if you did. Really enjoy the videos tho xD
Bangladeshi food is really just something spectacular.. Its an honest art for the love of the feast. That communal spirit really shines through. It comes as spicy or as sweet as you'd like but soo yummy. But its quite rich and I wouldn't recommend all these items as a regular meal (though a lot to do just that in fact haha!). There are also a lot dishes that go well with just plain steamed rice. Ghee (clarified butter), that ilish fried in mustard oil.. Fried eggplant. Tons of different kinds of mashes (bhortas). And yet more polao (bengali fine grain fried rice) based dishes like that biriyani (like Tehari, Morog Polao etc etc). Its the most balanced and succulent cuisine in the whole subcontinent imho. Not overly minty or unexpectedly floral like the rest of the region, very straight up strong aromatic flavors. Do feast on some proper Bangladeshi biriyani before you die lol!
Buzzfeed videos of Americans eating foreign food: When a foreigner is with them: "Oh man this food is 10/10 so good yeah" When there is no foreigners with them: "OOOH DISGUSTING What is this how can someone eat this"
Well remember in those "AMERICANS TRY BUTTS FOR THE FIRST TIME" videos they're usually given snack foods or extremely specific cultural dishes. I've seen some comments on those videos by people of that culture that claim they never eat that food cuz they think it sucks too.
I went to a Bangladeshi restaurant and for 3 years only eating Pakistani food I felt like home they were very friendly and warm people my dad and me we are native British white
if he test Bangladeshi food, why he kill for blasphemy? in Bangladesh, there has no blasphemy law & like you, Bangladeshi also hate this. so, don't look down upon Bangladeshi people.
Man this makes me miss my mom, she always makes the best biryani and dal! He did well with the fish, even I have trouble ingesting ilish maas and I've been doing it for years! lol
Aigulo ki...sutko ki.... Elish mach bhujlam paturi ki....lmfao.... Totally different with Bangladeshi foods....indian food totally different..... Thats item not available in Bangladesh
lol stop acting as if those are universal. No one in Bangladesh ever heard of sukto, paturi and other cuisines you people love. Our culture is different and so are our cuisines - a lot better than yours.
i would get them khichuri, chitoi pitha, and any sort pitha - dudh chitoi , fool pitha, pattishapta pitha, some phuska and chotpoti, some panta illish and all bhorta (and tell the story behind pohela boishak) Chhena gaja, shondesh, goja, batashi, moyah and so much more bangladesh not have only this few dishes ...... they shud defiantly try korolla Bitter melon, kathal (jackfruit) some amm (mano ) jam (bangladeshi berry) kamranga (starfruit) bhorta (mixture )
QuantumBender Its awesome for you not for everyone. You can eat this but if you show this to others they will find itself a peculiar dish. Do yourself a favor please offer your best food. Don't offer the worst. This way you can destroy your country's image.
12 hour workdays and working to be a computer engineer. reasons why im proud to be bangladeshi! we're hard working! thank you buzzfeed for also knowing some of the customs like the right hand thing lmao!
In the UK we love Indian food. But what people don't realise is that a lot of what we eat is Bangladeshi. No one ever says "I had an amazing Bangladeshi last night" we say "I had an amazing Indian last night"
Not all of those foods were exactly native to Bangladesh...more like some of them were broad South Asian foods which span across Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and possibly Sri Lanka .....either way....this region in the world has some of the best food out there.
And how would you know if they are not native to BD or not? Don’t try to teach a Bangladeshi about their own culture. All of these are foods that we eat in a daily basis and you will find them in every nook and corner of the country, from the most rural places to the most urban places. So don’t try to teach us what our cuisine is. That’s some disgustingly foolish attempt to demean people you know nothing of.
@@aap9490 they mean foods like naan, Biryani kabab etc are popular in whole south asia and all countries in south asia have their own versions of these foods. Now don't attack me. I am Bangladeshi too, born and raised.
Looks like buzzfeed team guys enjoyed Bangladeshi food more than Indian and Pakistani foods. But no Americans should try eating fish; they contain so much bone which could choke ppl to death. Hilsa fish was definitely a wrong and dangerous choice. It takes a lot of practices for ppl to learn to eat fish. Buzzfeed team, stay away from fish next time. Just a safety concern.
+Neo Anderson you are right. I am an Indian and here every Hindu has a caste. My caste is a fisherman caste. But I can't eat fish. Every time I had tried to eat I have almost chocked myself to death. If I can't eat foreigners can't eat it either.
+Neo Anderson in my country people don't take out the bones out of the fishes. i could not eat most of the fishes until i was like 13, it took me so long to be skillful to eat any kind of fish in my country, but it was worth it coz fish are delicious. sorry for bad englando
Wanting to know more about another culture by having someone who is originally from that culture educate you is not racist. In fact, it's helping people become more familiarized with different cultures around the world, and helps with tolerance and understanding.
:) Are you Bengali as well? This video makes me really happy, I figured people didn't know Bangladesh existed because they're to busy assuming we're Indians.
Sameur Rahman You're still technically Bengali. I've heard lots of Bengalis live in UK, is that correct? There are like none here in America, but that varies from state to state.
Hermione_ Danger256 I find it a bit rude to be honest. It shows how uneducated Americans are, it's like they assume it's the only South Asian Country. Some kid asked me to speak something in Indian once. -_- That statement is offensive to Indian or Bengalis. Also, I see you're a Harry Potter fan as well! :)
Us Americans have a lot to learn. Cultures like the ones all over the world have lived thousands of years longer and we think we're the best thing since sliced bread. Its funny how winning a handful of wars makes us so conceited. Just remember the tower of Babel. And dont forget the great empires of old. We are not the exception.
Please, speak for yourself. A lot of "Us Americans" don't even believe in the Bible, thankyouverymuch, nor are we all so ego-centric. I have friends all over the world and have worked with people from different cultures (I was in the US Navy). You may be stuck in some kind of...uncultured hole...but not all of us are.
Its not about food, its about mentality. That guy has been in the country for twelve years to become a computer engineer, raising kids, and working 12 hours a day. And the first thought that probably came to your head is that it was to much work
I was amazed when I saw the title. And now, wow, there's a lot of Bangladeshis in the comment section. BTW, I liked that they liked our food. I became emotional on that part.
While eating a bony fish (fish with internal spines or thorns), you need to remove them first - press small piece of fish meat slightly with your fingers, remove spines, bones, or thorns, dip in the curry or gravy once again, then eat. All are missing a simple trick here. You can't put it in your mouth right away and remove the spines later. If one stuck in the throat, it's painful and won't go that easy. Spoons and forks are just human tools. Every country, religion, or race must use hands to eat food. If you don't, you are missing one of the basic survival traits came through evolution.
Goutham Vasam lol i have a hard time picturing people who have never seen boned in fish but yeah boneless fish is how it's sold in north-america so some people have no idea
Ive had some food from the Philippines. Not sure what its called but it was some kind of sweet roll with some kind of purple stuff on it but its like baked into it. It was really good and I used to be around Filipino food a lot. My best friend and her entire family is from there. A lot of rice and a lot of garlic also, as far as ive seen

@@lookintoit4537 lol! Do you even have ilish in your country? Cause the last time I checked it is all imported from Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi food is awesome!
Troyee Mitra you got that right girl!
I'm really happy that they enjoyed everything they had. And even I have trouble with Ilish lmao
Blabby Bunny ... hey, i'm from Bangladesh too.. n I can eat elish like a cat, lol... sometimes even swallowing a few bones cz that doesn't even bother me,
Ahahah, I just chew it up with the bones when it's been fried XD
I am also a Bangladeshi.I have ate all these kinds of food. This video missed more Bengali foods like Polao,Salads,Fry illish fish,Bhaat,Borhun, and many many more!
ffs it's not a tortilla,it's a naan bread. it is different.
Alana Laverty Actually, roti is quite different than naan- however it is very similar to a tortilla. Naan is thicker, and more yeast-y.
Humayra still means it's not a tortilla
Obviously not- that's why they're two different things with different names. But, buzzfeed wanted something similar for the viewers to understand what a roti is, and a tortilla is much more similar to a roti than naan bread.
Humayra I guess I can understand that.
Not naan bread, it’s simply called naan. Naan itself means thar form of thick bread. So when you are saying naan bread you are basically saying bread bread! 🙄
shout out to the Bangladeshissss

The reason why you eat with your right hand is because you clean your ass with the left one. I remember going to India when I was little and my cousins were like 'why are you eating with your left hand?'. Kinda embarrassing, but hey you learn! NO one uses toilet tissue roles... I always have to buy one when I travel back to India!
That's what I was thinking 😂😂
***** Would you care to give me an explanation then? Or your take on it?
Did I state I use my left hand to wipe my anus? NO! I said I use toilet tissue paper. Plus I wash my hands with soap after. I think that's hygienic enough. What does the colour of my skin have to do with my hygiene and if you think your 'superior' due to your light skin colour, you're not. I don't wish to say anything more to an ignorant, rasict and a hauty person like you. Ciao.
I beg to disagree but we all font wash are butts with water. A lot of us use toilet paper here
***** Glad to see that you sir have some common sense since the reason why Bengali people eat with the right hand it because of their religion which is Islam.
I grew up eating Bangladeshi food and I'm fluent in the language :D
Bleu Frost cool :) where you from then?

Thank you, I was trying to make that point and you nailed it. Also, I'm assuming they offered him food though he declined or ate off camera.
You guys are so polite. very sweet !!
Proud to be Bengali ... I am not Bangladeshi , I am from Kolkata. And I see no difference .
Sam Bhattacharya one of many differences are religion
Talha Haque Shows ur differentiated mentality.
To much different bro coz today i seen a food video from Kolkata.... Different.... Not same...kela patha use....and more....
So r u Indian
Sure there are differences. Our cuisine is atleast 100 times better than yours.
I am agree with you. Also lots Bangladeshi food not available in India or Pakistan like Small fish chorchori or Shrimp with Bitter ground.
Not really, there are distinct differences, such as beef not being forbidden in Bangladesh. Plus, Indian food varies drastically by region.
April R I think that's what I mentioned, and yes they do eat beef just as others consume mutton. Bangladeshis enjoy fish a lot like their Hindu counterpart in west Bengal.
April R Yeah you are right. But I heard that hindus from Kerala do eat beef. :)
***** really? Interesting
Conner Miles we're talking about food not politics. And you're wrong bangladesh separated from Pakistan back in 1971. But in China this country also known as *Manjala* for more than 2000 years.

I gotta give this guy credit he is driving cabs and learning computer engineering and supporting his family.
Buzzfeed videos of Americans eating foreign food:
When a foreigner is with them:
"Oh man this food is 10/10 so good yeah"
When there is no foreigners with them:
"OOOH DISGUSTING What is this how can someone eat this"
Lol that one girl said the meat was oily enough to draw with
He said that he has eaten so many gross foods but there was nothing gross about our food.
Well remember in those "AMERICANS TRY BUTTS FOR THE FIRST TIME" videos they're usually given snack foods or extremely specific cultural dishes. I've seen some comments on those videos by people of that culture that claim they never eat that food cuz they think it sucks too.
I went to a Bangladeshi restaurant and for 3 years only eating Pakistani food I felt like home they were very friendly and warm people my dad and me we are native British white
getting real test of Bangladeshi food, anchor should visit Bangladesh.
Bay of Bengal I wish he is not killed for blasphemy
Ok .well then what is your opinion about Myanmar. you'll get the answer of blasphemy
if he test Bangladeshi food, why he kill for blasphemy? in Bangladesh, there has no blasphemy law & like you, Bangladeshi also hate this. so, don't look down upon Bangladeshi people.
Bay of Bengal non state actors, who are hunting and killing non muslims

@Kim Jong-UnMy God this person is so full of hate xD
lol stop acting as if those are universal. No one in Bangladesh ever heard of sukto, paturi and other cuisines you people love. Our culture is different and so are our cuisines - a lot better than yours.
that same girl complains so much about the oil even in another video she complains it was so much be happy that they even asked u to eat so naive dam.
lmaaaaooo
+susu96 hahaha Ya true
IKR..HATE THAT CHICK
As if the fast food she eats are healthy 🙄
i would get them khichuri, chitoi pitha, and any sort pitha - dudh chitoi , fool pitha, pattishapta pitha, some phuska and chotpoti, some panta illish and all bhorta (and tell the story behind pohela boishak) Chhena gaja, shondesh, goja, batashi, moyah and so much more bangladesh not have only this few dishes ...... they shud defiantly try korolla Bitter melon, kathal (jackfruit) some amm (mano ) jam (bangladeshi berry) kamranga (starfruit) bhorta (mixture )
+mystery queen The moment you will introduce them with panta vaat they will walk out.
lol i don't think so ..... it is kind of coogee soup
with illish which they already tried
Panta vaat is awesome
QuantumBender Its awesome for you not for everyone. You can eat this but if you show this to others they will find itself a peculiar dish. Do yourself a favor please offer your best food. Don't offer the worst. This way you can destroy your country's image.
now the question is- how do you wish to provide all these food items where there is little but no varieties of Bengali food in LA?
12 hour workdays and working to be a computer engineer. reasons why im proud to be bangladeshi! we're hard working! thank you buzzfeed for also knowing some of the customs like the right hand thing lmao!

Kpopper!
A Bengali kpoper! This is rare to find for me at least :3
I miss my Bangladesh too!!!😞😞😢😢
In the UK we love Indian food.
Totally. The food in that band of countries is utterly sublime.
Yes I also struggle to eat Hilsa
+Neo Anderson At least if you wanna try the fish, try the ones with less bone in them like rupchanda and talapia
+Neo Anderson you are right. I am an Indian and here every Hindu has a caste. My caste is a fisherman caste. But I can't eat fish. Every time I had tried to eat I have almost chocked myself to death. If I can't eat foreigners can't eat it either.
Shub Fish bone can be dangerous and life threatening to those who are not used to it. You should also not try, one choke can be dangerous.
+Neo Anderson in my country people don't take out the bones out of the fishes. i could not eat most of the fishes until i was like 13, it took me so long to be skillful to eat any kind of fish in my country, but it was worth it coz fish are delicious.
sorry for bad englando
Im so happy to see Non-Bangladeshi people enjoy Bangladeshi Cuisine. It makes me happy to see the satisfaction on their face!
Whoop! I'm Bengali too, living in the UK!
Arya A bengladesh ?
When he said "to survive" I felt moved for some reason :")
YAY! BANGLADESH FINALLY WOOOOO! I love Bengali food, its absouletly delicious. Although this video is a tiny little bit racist :P
Another example of someone not knowing the definition of racist.
MoonScar wow, that's an incredibly good point. People use it in the wrong context all the time
Wanting to know more about another culture by having someone who is originally from that culture educate you is not racist. In fact, it's helping people become more familiarized with different cultures around the world, and helps with tolerance and understanding.
This isn't racism..This is the perfect example of feminism which Buzzfeed is trying to propogate
I am bengali
I'm from Bangladesh, and I'm happy to see this
YEY FOR BANGLADESH!
:) Are you Bengali as well? This video makes me really happy, I figured people didn't know Bangladesh existed because they're to busy assuming we're Indians.
well my grandparents were born in bangladesh. I'm from the uk :) Dumble Pops
+Dumble Pops Ikr! All my friends think I'm Indian, (not that I have anything against them) but it's kinda annoying to correct them all the time!
'Winning'
I didn't say anything about the bible
ametur
Its not about food, its about mentality. That guy has been in the country for twelve years to become a computer engineer, raising kids, and working 12 hours a day. And the first thought that probably came to your head is that it was to much work
I was amazed when I saw the title. And now, wow, there's a lot of Bangladeshis in the comment section.
BTW, I liked that they liked our food. I became emotional on that part.
Being a Bangladeshi I feel so proud watching this video✊✊
I can't believe he knew they didn't debone the fish, but still put a chunk of it in his mouth
I'm from Bangladesh... :D n dat was awesooome guys :D thnx a lot 4 complementing our food :D (Y)

Its so great to see my culture get represented:) the "to survive" line hit really hard as an immigrant
You should try Serbian/Bosnian food, like chevapi and pleskavica.
and burek and sarma
pewpewpew sarma is from turkey
Hrle221 Sarma is found in the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire from the Middle East to the Balkans and Central Europe.
pewpewpew yeah turkey is the disbanded ottoman empire
max hudson durr I'm not dumb. That doesn't make it Turkish though.
Might I suggest filipino food! :) And not just egg rolls and noodles, but other stuff like sinigang, ox tail kare kare or nilaga, etc
They did it
Filipino food is greasy and disgusting.
Filipino food is amaZing!
Daggerfall40 like american fast food?
Ive had some food from the Philippines. Not sure what its called but it was some kind of sweet roll with some kind of purple stuff on it but its like baked into it. It was really good and I used to be around Filipino food a lot. My best friend and her entire family is from there. A lot of rice and a lot of garlic also, as far as ive seen
I love it when ppl respect and enjoy different cultures :D
I get these show are hard to made, but this series it SO GREAT. PLEASE MAKE MORE SHOW LIKE THIS!!!!
I prefer Indian cuisine even though they're really similar but OMG Bangladeshi food is to die for!!! TT~TT
