AMERICAN FANS ARE AMAZING!! Honestly since I started this channel one of the best things about it has been finding out about American sports fans. I really love their passion and support for their teams. College sports deserve a special mention. I already knew College Football had great supports from some of my previous videos but seeing College Basketball fans showing similar noise and passion just blows me away. I wish I had studied in the US haha. I will be checking out some other sports soon. What videos from other American sports should I react to next?
Yeah most of us Love our country, Love everything American, love our sports teams, you tag USA on it, most Americans will watch it. We tune in to the World Cup even to support a game most of us don't even watch the other 4 years. I do however wish Rugby was more popular, but businesses follow the money, so its hard to support American sports when you have 4 top sports, Football, Basketball, Hockey and Baseball, even Boxing, Golf and Tennis to some extent, so all other sports fall by the way side.
Yeah so when foreigners say Soccer is the world's sport, statistically it is, but you see the packed stadiums for college football for JUST A REGULAR SEASON match, not a championship. Nothing beats sports in America.
And college also have baseball hockey lacrosse soccer track and field swimming wrestling and much more, football is king for attendance you should check out the best high school stadiums if you want to be impressed.

I'm a Michigan football fan so I am obviously partial to the "Winged Helmet", which is pretty universally recognized as the best helmet design in all of football.
Also, don't worry about NFL uniforms; college uniforms, like everything to do with football, are better!
that boston bruins national anthem clip took place shortly after the boston marathon bombing, that's why everyone in the stadium was singing the anthem so passionately

I was living in Boston at the time and watched that game on TV. It was amazing. My whole family was crying.

You have to understand even after you graduate you still follow your college teams, even decades later.
Its family. My best friends in life are the ones I made in college, and big part of that time were the football games and all the events that surrounded them.
That is great. I guess that is why the fans are so passionate. It is a lifelong dedication. That to me, is what sports is all about.
“Jump Around” is played in other stadiums, but Wisconsin fans have made it their own. 80,000 Badger faithful all jumping at the same time has been felt the Richter Earthquake scale!
The broadcasters always report that the press box actually shakes during Jump Around. Doesn't stop the crew from joining in.
Yes. Most of these big college football games are sold out. And college basketball is definitely huge. Some great You Tube videos out there showing March Madness buzzer beaters. The national championship semi-finals and finals are played in indoor football stadiums, so the attendance is 50,000 to 60,000+. Great job with your reaction.

Back in the 1980's, my husband was working at a booth at the World's Fair in Knoxville right under Neyland Stadium when Tennessee beat Alabama for the first time in more than a decade, I think it was. He said he was afraid the stadium was going to fall on top of him, there was so much stomping and jumping up and down.
College football stadiums, especially for the major teams, tend to sell out or at least be close. But you can usually find tickets one way or another. Rivalry games and major bowls tend to be pretty hard to get tickets for unless you're willing to shell out a lot more than face value, but otherwise it's usually not too bad.

We attended a Pitt game as the visiting team and Sweet Caroline was unnerving. I have never felt more surrounded.
I'm an American who also loves fan culture, but I'd like to give a huge shout out to Canadian fans too. They love their teams, but they also love us. During a game at Toronto Maple Leafs game against the Nashville Predators, the woman singing the American National Anthem before they do the Canadian one, her mic stopped working. The few Americans, and ALL OF the Canadians finished the US National Anthem from those Canadian stands. The video is only a minute long if you have time to go check it out. Canada is the greatest neighbor in the world. I love them.

9:50 this is my university, Texas A&M! That's the old stadium, only ~70k capacity. The new one goes up to 110k (Kyle Field). They had to strengthen the stands because when we would sway, the press box at the top of the stadium would physically move, scaring the away team's reporters. Our traditions are all sorts of weird (we have a fake military with a dog general, we have to stand the whole game and yell the entire time the other team has the ball) but it's usually a lot of fun. If you want a good video to watch, Texas A&M beating Alabama in 2012 is one of the craziest football games I've ever seen -- maybe watch a highlight video of that!

-Its normal for matches to be close to 100% capacity when teams are doing really well. Some teams with super strong fanbases will pack the stadium if their team is just a solid squad. When teams hit a performance dip attendance does drop. I think a good example of this is the Oklahoma City Thunder. They are professional Basketball team in the Oklahoma and the stadium was packed for around 8 years straight. After they lost some of their iconic franchise players and started to rebuild, it was pretty difficult for them to pack the stadium after around 2 years. The Thunder were ranked 10th place on attendance with a 2-22 losing record in 2008 to 29th place attendance in 2022 with a pretty solid squad. There are only 30 teams.
-You commented about how teams are sharing songs, so there are a couple different categories.
1. Fight Songs are unique to college sports, and they do not share with other schools. Every school has their own.
2. American Sports Anthems are things like Sweet Caroline, Take Me Home Country Roads, 7 Nation Army, Zombie Nation, etc.
These songs are shared between all sports and are pretty commonly played just casually throughout the match. Sometimes the crowd is feeling it and they sing along in a big moment. Most of the time the song just plays and a few people or a section might sing along.
Because of the size of the crowds and the nature of the seating, lots of chants are prompted by the cheer squad that the team has. Holding up big signs that direct certain portions of the stadium to say parts of the chant. So for the Ohio one, One quarter would say "O" after the signs go up, The next quarter would say "H" and so on.
Lastly, you can definitely get tickets to almost any game you want to go to no matter the sport. The only ones that are going to sting will be bowl games, championships or rivalries. Maybe a hype playoff matchup will be difficult to find as well. However, you can always go on the ticket vampire's websites and get some tickets. They are always there.
If there is one college football game you need to go to, it’s the Penn State white out game. It’s one of the best experiences you can have in college football. The whole stadium is pure white and can get so loud they’ve measured up to a magnitude 5 earthquake in the stadium and has reached over 120 decibels. Tickets are extremely expensive, but they are well worth the price.
I grew up living about 10 miles away from Jordan-Hare in Auburn. During game days (especially during big games) we could hear the crowd cheering inside our house. Its insane how loud they can get.

Auburn only holds like 87k compared to so many that are over 100k these days, but JHS can absolutely get rocking with any other stadium in the country. Great atmosphere in there for big games.
I'm surprised this video didn't include the Seattle Seahawks fans. Back in 2011, Seahawks fans caused a minor earthquake with how hard they cheered for their team. Look up "Beast Quake"
Tomahawk Chop is from MY Florida State Seminoles, I have been a fan since the mid 80s and this always gives me chills. I have lived and been around the world and NOTHING beats college sports atmosphere. I moved from FL to Norway a few years ago and miss live football home games.

@@mertsalih and with all this cancelled culture going around, too many woke white people thought it was disrespectful that white people were benefiting from Indian or Seminole tradition, when the college's athletic director and sports boosters actually went to a Seminole Chief and asked if it was ok to continue to use their cultural traditions in their opening ceremonies. The tribe gave the school their blessing and was actually recognized when Chief Osceola on the back of Renegade, threw the flaming spear into the ground. It's a great tradition and yes I am little biased since I have been a fan for over 30 years.
There are definitely some popular songs that multiple schools/stadiums will use, but many put their own personalized stamp on it. The "We Are (Penn State)" chant in Zombie Nation, the "Let's Go Pitt!" during Sweet Caroline, etc.
Attendance does vary depending on the school and the team’s performance. My alma mater definitely does NOT sell out football games because it’s a smaller school without a huge tradition for football but bigger/better programs do, especially for big games. I live in Austin and the University of Texas sold out a few football games this season (over 100,000 people) but a few other games were maybe 90,000 if it was against a much worse opponent or 11am kickoff. There are more diehard fanbases than Texas though that will sell out their games more often than not. It really depends on the school. The ones you’re seeing on this video are, for the most part, pretty big programs so huge sellout crowds aren’t uncommon but a much smaller school wouldn’t see that level of support.
Thanks for letting me know Alex. I like how you say the matches against worse opponents would be 90k. That number is still unbelievable to me as a soccer fan. Very rarely will soccer teams even have a stadium that big never mind getting that attendance for a team against a not so good opponent. I really love that.
One thing that I think makes sports so big in America is the vastness of our country. There are so many towns that are so far away from the next town and sports are a unifying element in local high schools.
There's a small school in the midwest called North Dakota State University (The Bison [That's Bi-zon,]). They are literally the most successful program relative to it's level of play of any football program in the history of football and programs. If you ever come here and want to tour the best of college football tradition, it's a must-stop. Not for what happens in the stadium, but for the tailgating experience. It's like a state fair every Saturday.
The city of Frisco, TX hosts the FCS National Championship every year. There's a bumper sticker there that says, "Welcome Bison fans. You know your way around by now."
It’s kind of hard to actually hear, but with Alabama’s Rammer Jammer chant, we always end it with “Rammer Jammer Yellowhammer give ‘em hell, Alabama!” And I believe the Auburn one was after the infamous Kick 6, so they changed the words to “Rammer jammer Yellowhammer go to hell, Alabama”

I’m glad you like my schools traditions. Jump around really gets everyone fired up. Edit: I wish it showed us singing buttercup as the game is being played. Nothin gets you in the vibe like singing that song in the night while everyone has their flashlights on in the snow. Love it here
The Jump Around tradition is one I would love to be a part of. It is such an energetic song and it seems perfect for sports fans to go mad to. The Buttercup song was probably the most surprising. I have heard that song before and would never have thought it would work at a sports match but those fans just make it work.

In the NFL, the Buffalo Bills have the most amazing fan base of any team in the league. It's so hard core that the team has it's own Mafia, which hold fundraisers for the players charities, sell out every game, and even get the players to the airport on the back of snow mobiles when a snow storm forces a state of emergency.The Bills fan base is the best.
Buffalo took a beating this winter.
UTAH STATE BABAYYYYY!!! Go Aggies!! That was my college and they’re the most ruthless crowd I’ve ever been in lol. People used to hand every student a newsletter at each game with specific information about the opposing team so we could do coordinated taunts haha

If you haven't watched the entire video of that Anthem at the Boston Bruins game you should. That bombing shook everyone in New England when it happened. I can still watch that video and get chills just watching it.
College fan atmosphere is unmatched. Even pregame and post. So much fun to be a part of.

@@mertsalih My first college game, I went to California State (my college) and our rival was of course, inter-state Stanford lol (my dad's alma mater) and ho boy that atmosphere was insane. After which I flew to Colorado to go to the Boulder Colorado vs Colorado State rivalry since my best friend and then- girlfriend were attending both schools lol. Another insane game. It's completely different than a NFL game. Reminds me kinda like a NHL game where you interact with the fans around you I guess?
American universities tend to be pretty big. A few are over 60,000 students, many are over 50k and the top 50 are 35k and over. The universities that have a good sports teams tend to be fun places to get your degree. Kids are just leaving home and making new friends and discovering what life is about. Those four years shape so many lives and it builds a lasting relationship with graduates. People love their schools and the roots run deeper than just moving to a new town and rooting for the local sports team. It is YOUR team, you might even go to class with the players on the team.
I had a lot of friends go to UW Madison and I've been in that student section for Jump Around. It's actually difficult to jump on those slippery bleachers lol but it's a blast, people fall down all the time. I still think the Sandstorm one might be my favorite

Utah state mens basketball student section is known for having the best chants. They are up there with the cameron crazies and kansas in terms of passion for sure. You should do a reaction to some of the quicky college basketball student section traditions.

I live in the state of Nebraska, it's has a small population, a little under 2 million,, but our University football stadium has been sold out for Every home game since 1962. In fact on football Saturday the stadium holds enough people to be the third largest city in the state. Around 90,000 people!
You need to check out the Texas A & M University marching band. Also, "Bull riding wrecks". Kentucky State Choir sings the national anthem. The only two sports where the fans do not go totally berserk is the Indianapolis 500 race and the Triple Crown thoroughbred races. This is why the finals of the college basketballs season is referred to as March Madness.
Had to watch when I saw that neyland stadium checkerboard. GO VOLS. Every time I’m in their I’m covered in gooosebumps constantly. Best place on earth.

4:46 Yes. College basketball is huge too. In March, there will be March Madness. It's like the World Cup for college basketball. All across the country, people fill out the brackets, sometimes even POTUS. There's the Sweet 16, Elite Eight, the Final Four, then the final.

You mentioned your surprise upon seeing the energy at MLS matches... Our domestic Premiership is one of the best attended in the world - average ~ 22,500/match, as of 2019. It has since increased a bit.
Some of the clubs are every bit as plastic and soulless as many Europeans believe all American clubs to be (looking at YOU, Colorado Rapids). But most are truly well supported by knowledgeable, sophisticated, passionate fan bases.
The video showed Sounders vs Timbers, which is undoubtedly one of the best derbies in North America. It is a fixture with every bit of the animosity and vitriol any real football fan would expect and relish.
Speaking of animosity and vitriol... You lot got LUCKY against Aberdeen! Fair play to your club for digging deep and salvaging the three points. It looked pretty grim for you until the death.

LOL mate, my heart nearly gave up during that match. We were VERY lucky. I just want simple 2-0 wins with no stress but I don't see that happening this season. With respect to MLS, I would recommend simply keeping an eye on the league in a broad sense, unless you personally have a built in reason to favor a particular city or club. If a favorite uncle of yours lives in, let's say, Minneapolis, then Minnesota United are your MLS club.
Otherwise, it's just an entertaining league to follow. There's a salary cap, therefore the league is well balanced. There have been something like 14 different MLS Cup champions in the last 16 years. LAFC, this year's Cup holder, hadn't played its first competitive match five years ago. Do you remember the last time a team NOT named Rangers or Celtic won in Scotland? Or the last time someone outlasted Bayern in Germany? I don't. There's far more drama when the result isn't preordained.
The other thing is, it's a closed system - no promotion and relegation with lower leagues. That seems daft to non Americans. And to be fair, it's a contentious issue amongst fans here. But, it simply means that fans have to adjust their focus. Typically, fans of European leagues concentrate at the very top and bottom of the table. The sixty percent of clubs in the middle aren't noteworthy at all. They're not in danger of relegation, nor are they a threat to challenge the best.
In MLS, the biggest prize is the MLS Cup, which is based on a playoff after all the scheduled fixtures have been played. A mid table club can qualify for the playoffs, catch fire, and win the whole thing. And because the league is balanced and unpredictable, the margin of difference between bottom and mid table is fairly thin.
Just to round out the picture, the other legs of the domestic treble are the Supporters Shield and the Open Cup. The former is awarded to the top points finisher after all scheduled fixtures, but before the playoffs. The latter is equivalent to an FA Cup or DFB Pokal - open to all divisions.
Starting next year, there will be a structured competition with MLS and LigaMX. The two countries are huge footballing rivals, as are the two leagues. I am not certain what the precise format will be... But it figures to be entertaining.
MLS matches will be carried on Apple TV for the next ten years. So, it can be followed anywhere.

max capacity depends on the game. big time rivalry games are almost always max capacity. big time match ups in the sec are usually max capacity regardless of the sport. getting tickets isnt that hard but you will pay handsomely depending on the conference and importance of the game. general admission tickets for the LSU vs Alabama game this past season were over $200 for nose blead seats.
Wow that is pretty expensive but I guess if that atmosphere is like it is in those clips it is definitely worth it. Would be an amazing experience.
As with American football, basketball was developed and popularized at the high school and college levels before the professional leagues came into existence. My state, Illinois, has the oldest high school basketbal state championship tournament in the U.S., beginning in 1908. The NCAA basketball championship began in 1939. The National Basetball League began in 1937, and later merged with the Basketball Association of America (founded in 1946) to create the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1949. The best baseball fans are those of the St. Louis Cardinals. The St. Louis metropoltaun area has a population of about 2.8 million people, 21st largest in the United States. Yet the Cardinals draw over 3 million fans to Busch Stadium in St. Louis every season, regularly outdrawing each of the New York and Chicago teams. In 2022, the Cardinals drew 3.4 million fans, second only to the Los Angeles Dodgers. I also recommend checking out Major League Soccer, and seeing how far it's come as the league is set to begin its 28th season in 2023.+

Alot of places you sometimes see people use call signs or give salutes reppin thier school, like Hookem Horns- Texas, Boomer Sooner- Oklahoma. War Eagle- Auburn, Roll tide - Alabama and a bunch more
Sounders and Timbers is the most redhot MLS rivalry in the US and it’s not even close. Those two dominate the Western conference and play some of the most fiery matches. I live in Pittsburgh (HAIL TO PITT) but it’s my life’s dream to go to Seattle to see my Sounders play. You also have to see the atmosphere at the Pittsburgh Pirates playoff game in 2013. It’s called the Cueto Game. It was our first winning season and playoff appearance in 21 years (I was 17 and had never seen us even win half our games.) The whole stadium started chanting the opposing pitchers name and he dropped the ball on the mound then gave up a home run on the next pitch.

some schools are known for a sport like vcu in richmond va is a basketball school and has a 300+ game streak of games that are sold out
Living in the SEC land of sports, most football games are sold out by the day if the game. If you plan a trip, you can generally get tickets through the first few weeks of the season for most games so it requires planning. Rival games (I think the UK calls them derby's) are generally sold out a few days after tickets go on sale. The Iron Bowl (Alabama v Auburn) usually is sold out in a few hours.

Ohio State vs University of Michigan is called The Game and they are in The Big Ten Conference and always nationally televised : both have huge alumni fan bases spread out across the country. It started out as Midwest Universities but now there are teams from the East Coast and 4 new ones from the West Coast. Lots of TV $ generated by the large conferences. I guess you should think of many States as countries BUT the big difference is we are a united people under one flag. Canada has their provinces but are united under one flag.
I’m from Mississippi which shortly after meeting someone else from Mississippi you ask which college football team they support haha!! There are some colleges you’ll potentially wait for YEARS on a waiting list to buy season tickets which is tickets to every home game for an entire season!
As a frequent visitor to Kyle field at Texas A&M I can say with a degree of certainty that Aggie fans are as rabid as they come! From the chanting, to the 3 inch cannon they fire when they score, and the Corps Cadets all in uniform and pumping the crowd up. It’s worth the trip to College Station just to tailgate outside the stadium even if you can’t score a ticket.
2:42 is before a Cascadia Derby match between MLS sides Portland and Seattle. Seattle Sounders fans have been known make a tremendous amount of noise on their own. But the away fans in their section of Lumen Field doing the "PTFC" chant are doing their best to match the noise level...

Ah nice, 7:42 is my alma mater. Kinnick Stadium, home of the Iowa Hawkeyes--widely recognized as one of the most difficult stadiums to play in for the visiting team due to the crowd.
Not every stadium game sells out, but there are many that you have to wait years for someone to die so their season tickets become available or you pay a healthy fee to buy a one time ticket.
As a Soccer fan, you should get to a Seattle v Portland match, MLS's biggest rivals, check out videos on those games. aka 'Cacadian Cup' matches.
Check out Syracuse college basketball from the 80's and 90's. When they were in the big east conference. They use to hold the record for the largest crowd for a college basketball game.
One thing that's especially interesting (and a little scary) about Enter Sandman from Virginia Tech, is that one time fans were so loud it registered on nearby seismograph!! The NCAA Tournament for college basketball in March every year is basically right behind the Superbowl and the NCAA college football national championship.
Depends on the team if it is always full or not. Nebraska for example has been sold out since 1962 I believe. For college football, a lot of the teams usually sellout. There are many that do not though.

You need to watch a video about live mascots in college football. Colorado has a buffalo that runs on the field. Auburn has a bald eagle that flies around the stadium. USC, FSU, and Oklahoma have horses. LSU even has a tiger.
It's a shame that LSU can't bring Mike out in his mobile cage anymore. But he lives a life of luxury in his habitat on campus. He lives better than a lot of humans.
Someone seems to always have an extra ticket (S), cruising through the Tailgaters you can usually find one, often at a reduced rate if it's close to game start.

A lot of these games are probably championship or bowl games which come around Thanksgiving but college football is televised on Saturday then NFL on Sunday. Ugh it's so sad to see these & where we're at now nationally.

Most of the college teams shown are among the most popular, so the attendance varies. The ones shown are mostly the elite teams, and some of their stadiums seat more people than NFL stadiums. Those are also regular season games. College games are open to the public, you just need to buy tickets. Difficulty of getting tickets varies based on how fast they sell out.
Yes, it is normal for the stadiums to be full, you see these teams are in different states too, so almost every stadium is packed like this, EVERY Saturday. So when you see those packed stadiums it isn't just that team, it's most college teams in America, whether the stadium seats 5,000 or 120,000, they are mostly packed, especially in conference matchups. This is why most Americans don't follow international soccer, because American football is ours, OUR game, we support our games and to us, NOTHING is bigger. You took time to see it and learn it. So when a foreigner says Soccer is the biggest game in the world. I always say that's cause you don't play America football. It really is that simple.
A lot of this isn't entirely generic, it really depends on context. The energy level in a big game at any of these major schools is off the chain. I don't think there's a better football environment to have been found than at Michigan Stadium during and after the win against Ohio State. That said, there is no better stadium atmosphere than NHL playoff hockey when you have reason to believe in your team.
Yeah the energy levels look mad. I don't think I have seen anything like it in any other sport. When it comes to NHL, what teams are known for having great fans?
That can be said for all sports, if your team is on top. Fans are extra loud and supportive.
@@mertsalih Depends a bit who you ask; most all the Canadian teams have fanatical fanbases and most every fanbase in general goes nuts for playoffs. Playoff vs non-playoff hockey is one of the most abrupt shifts in any professional sport in terms of the tempo of the game and the intensity of the atmosphere; most regular season Ice Hockey is far more sedate.

The "lucky" college teams are the ones with big rivalries. Right now Michigan & Ohio are one of the biggest.
Having a good rivalry is the best and college football has many of them and that is why the atmosphere in many of the games are jacked up.
You had the biggest smile on your face; JUST LIKE US!! Come over and come to a game. Any game. You'll fit right in. As long as the stadium isn't sold out, anyone can buy a ticket.
I went to Utah State and it's a small isolated town where there's not a lot to do (imo) so students focus more on the basketball games showing support. It's definitely a fun lively atmosphere inside the building.

8:00. I have friends that I met from Europe during the mid 1990s. My European friends said that I had "no clue" what fandom was in America. The European stadiums have 35-40K fans!..... I was/am still friends with those same friends 25 years later. I get "sheepish" replies when they see videos like you are watching--hahaha. A weekly COLLEGE football game in the US can have twice the attendance as a World Cup Soccer Final. Sports fandom is CRAZY in the US.
Most teams having anthem song that is specifically for them but there are also General songs that a lot of teams do.

5:46 A big reason college basketball is so big is because of March Madness. A huge college tournament throughout the month. A lot of money to be made, lots of underdog stories and hometown upsets. Its a big deal for American sports
You could get a ticket. There are companies that sell spare tickets, but depending on the university, it might be really expensive. In all the top conferences, all games are sold out, but through these companies you could get a ticket.

This is an older video. There are some awesome traditions around the country, especially in CFB that they don't show. I'm biased, but my favorite is "Light Up Sanford." As far as I know, Georgia Bulldogs fans were the first to "light up" a stadium during a night game with their cellphone lights. We do it between the 3rd and 4th quarters when the Redcoat Marching Band plays the Krypton Fanfare from Superman: The Movie. The LED lights dim and it looks amazing! When it finishes, the LED lights come back on, but now they're red and there's a cool light show before the 4th quarter starts. It's an awesome, newer tradition. @@mertsalih It is really cool. There are a lot of videos of UA-cam to show it; the one I posted in my comment is just one. We've also done this at Notre Dame Stadium, where we took over their stadium during an away game, and at the National Championship, and at the Rose Bowl.
In college football you get 6-8 home games a year, that is why all the games are so full.
In college hoops schools like North Carolina and Duke have a huge Rivalry also schools like UCLA Michigan Indian Kentucky are bluebloods

Yes we Americans are crazy bout our sports, especially the Ncaa, so much joy along with so much heartbreak but we grow up from like 3 years old on the team we love which is usually our home state...yes we try to destroy each other as a rivalry but we also got each others back...i seen that orange and white on the thumbnail so i came running( Go Vols) ..i remember some navy seals i believe actually parachuted into Neyland Stadium with the American flag behind them

You can get a ticket to a college football game pretty easy from 3rd party ticket sellers. BUT the bigger the game the more you will pay. Tennessee Vols Played Georgia Bulldogs this season it was the #1 vs #3 ranked teams. Tickets were being sold for over $3000 USD.

The Baltimore fans are going absolutely nuts because 2012 and 2014 were INCREDIBLE seasons after an entire generation (90s kids) grew up with absolutely terrible teams. 2012 was a miracle because nobody expected them to be any good but they just kept winning. 2014 they had a very real chance going into the playoffs to win the World Series.
You can always get a ticket. With apps that allow ticket owners to put them up for sale its impossible not to find tickets. Word of advise the close it gets to the event there will be higher prices so buy early!

You said more international people should know about our college sports crowds. I would contest that because of the reputation of our large universities and their international attendance, a lot of them are. My undergrad university had 25,000 students and isn't even considered a MASSIVE school. About 10% of those students were international. Then consider generations who have gone to those schools and either stayed, or had kids who came over as legacies. I'd bet 3% of those crowds don't live here, and another 15% weren't born here.
Every autumn I turn on a college football game just for the soundscape that reads so autumn to me. It doesn't sound like professional football at all. College football is almost a religion in many parts of America.
