I too have a 1-meter-tall Delta that I designed and built. It has a 300mm round bed and I also use magnetic bearings too. The major difference, is that my printer mounts the hot end on top of the effector. Also I designed a retaining clip to ensure my mag bearings do not detach. I still have problems with my filament stuck in the heat-break, but I think that is a slicer problem.
This was an excellent video. Especially the fact that you proved your pieces fit together accurately using 2 different printers. I wound up here looking for information on Flsun V400. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for a clear and succinct take on this subject. There seem to be a lot of folks out there who got burned by bad deltas and never got over it, but the platform has so much potential. I get excellent performance and accuracy with my Kossel -- it can push 30k acceleration on the one hand, but also print as fine as .05mm layers, so it's great for both prototyping and high-quality output. A flying setup with an LGX on a ~16cm bowden really helped me on the extrusion side.
Thanks for the video. Interesting that you put as much mass on top of your delta, I’d expect that stuff to make the frame want to wobble. But, looks like it’s fine. :)
I started to build a big delta years ago for a cnc and 3d printer to replace my Ender 3. I have seen almost no delta CNC's except big industrial ones. Why is that? I am back at it now, but I think this time I will build a real small one for 4x6 inch circuit boards. And maybe 3d smaller items very fast compared to the ender 3. This seems backwards from everyone else...they build big deltas and corexy for small cnc
I agree a small nibble delta would be great especially for circuit boards. I think a lot of people still think deltas are inaccurate and hard to calibrate.
@@Rolohaun I started to work on the little delta, but it seems to take up too much desk space. And one of its advantages is using it for Z axis as you get that 'free'. Now I'm working on a SCARA machine. This is about as simple as it gets, just two arms and two motors. And a circuit board weighs almost nothing, so the plan is to swing it around and keep the tools stationary. In fact I think it is possible to have multiple tools and swing the board over to each one, so scrape the circuit, paint solder mask, lay solder paste. Well see..It could do Z axis by raising the tools.
try to go with 2040 extrusion, and don't go as tall as I did. This was one of my first build and I would change those things. Also either go direct drive or flying extruder that are a lot of examples of those on thingiverse and such

Hey, i'm eyeing to build a delta for a while now, going over current designs and assessing their pros and cons. You pressed the importance of magnetic arms in your video, but what do you think about "spoon" style rods of FLSUN Super Racer, how would it compare with magnetic arms? Thanks for your instructive videos!
I have not used one but I think the Super Racer is a good printer, I don't think you would have any issues. Modern delta printers from FLsun usually have quality parts.
I own a Tronxy X5SA 400 and a Flsun Q5. Well, the Quality was not as expected out of the box. I had to Customizing both Printers in Stiffnes and Firmware. Now, i am Happy with my two ones. Ordinary Bed-Printers are boring and i would never buy such an Ender or so. Sadly, there were came out so much of these boring Printers every year and cool and cheap CoreXY and Deltas are very rare on the Market.

I want to build my next 3D printer for a specific purpose. I want to print large ABS parts, 5 inches x 10 inches, 600 grams. I am planing to use a V6 + Super Volcano + 1.0 nozzle to print as fast as possible. Do you think I should build a Simple Core or a Delta? I like Delta's but I am concern about the weight of the extruder + Super Volcano + fans with long air Ducts. Please let me know your toughs. Thanks a million. Michel.
Ball cups with a rod in the middle to tigthen them are just as good. They take out the play. It is just as with your magnetic ones as long as the magnets froce is higther than the force caused by acceleration it is fine, same goes for the ball cup design as long as the spring or rod is stiff enough is takes out all the play. The disadvantage of the magnets are, magnets are more expensive and a bigger hassle to glue etc. The magnetic ball design came from the horrible paly in the first version of thoise printers where there was nothing totake the play out. Thge ball cups are the best because simpliest solution to that problem in my mind.

I have my Super Racer printing accurately at 400mm/s and 60k acceleration. A few mods and klipper makes a dream!

Delta is harder to enclose for ABS, you would want corexy SimpleCore, voron, ratrig that type
How do you set up your probe on the delta? And what kind of probe do you use?
