He's one of the best things in all of Star Wars, it's so endearing that he still often denotes Alec as the definitive Obi-Wan in his mind, when I would easily wager for most it's been Ewan for a long time, of course no shade to Alec there.
@@JedidiahRose1 As cool as Guinness's portrayal was, Alec himself was less than impressed with the role (tbf, he did not live to see the phenomenon the series became), and could not understand the Star Wars fervor happening when Episode IV: A New Hope premiered in 1977. Ewan, on the other hand, has been reverent about the role's history, and his part in the endurance of the character. He will forever be Obi-Wan to those who love Star Wars: not a bad legacy to have! 💓💓✨✨
The scene between of Obi saying sorry is delivered so perfectly, it felt like real catharsis to experience that the first time after years of negativity around the prequels. Thank you Ewan and Hayden!
Trainspotting is one of those rare movies (like Shawshank Redemption) where it's so bleak you're not expecting a happy ending and preparing yourself for the worst outcome but when you do get the best resolution, it feels appreciated and actually earned and not cliche at all.
Another reason why Danny Boyle is such a maverick. The subject matter in his movies can be dark and depressing yet he finds a way of creating optimism and euphoria at the end!
"Choose life." "Trainspotting" was the first project I ever watched Ewan in, and I knew that he was poised to be a big star. He completely embodied the role of Renton.
A friend of mine in France was one of the special effects creators for Trainspotting, they used a pool belonging to the Navy to film in by Glasgow. Regarding the coloured dyes that were used in it. As local swimming pools wouldn’t allow the dyes to be used in their public pools. He also created the baby that crawled on the ceiling in Trainspotting.
i love how proud he was over his U-bend idea. and that smile at the end. love that dude! wish he talked about Son of a gun, on of my favorites with him.
@urbanexplorer3059 If all you have to say is "sucked," you gotta be young. You can avoid the truth as much as you want. The majority liked the movie. One word answers are for children lol
the whole long way trilogy is such a joy to watch, inspired my motorcycle travels around vietnam and cant recommend it enough. the perfectly capture the joys, frustrations and adventure of such a trip.
Not having Moulin Rouge is a crime. Speaking of Moulin Rouge they should get Nicole Kidman to do one of these..she has had such a variety of roles over the years.
I'll always be a stan for Ewan. Side note, it'll be 20 years since Long Way Round first aired in October. Wish someone had asked if there are plans for a 20th anniversary special for this iconic series.
Many actors say they never watch any of their own films. Ewan made an interesting choice with the toilet because ‘back in the day’ it was prominent in all Trainspotting trailers, shown with every Indie movie of the time 😌😌
@@dylanrinker6831 Have you not seen all the Star Wars content. It's literally endless with these people. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a season 2.
3:22 "Well, maybe not" 😆 PS. 'The Ghost Writer' has a special place in my heart as the film starring my favourite Bond and the one I wish had done it the most. Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor are both great in that film, I've seen it too many times to count. That and 'Beginners', one of my all-time favourites!
It’s strange I finished rewatching Long Way Round 2 days ago and didn’t expect to see it featured here. If you haven’t seen his 3 bike trips around the world I really recommend them.
I was 17 or 18 when the prequels came out. I loved them! I loved the originals too. I didn't think the downfall was relatable in the third, but overall I really enjoyed them.
I have a theory about that: he enjoyed being a musical theatre star with the singing and the emoting; and I truly believe that he and Nicole had an affair of the heart and of the body. Then he went on to do musicals in the West End and another movie in which he sung that got panned. So he put that chapter behind him.
I loved the Obi-Wan series. They should have aged him up more, though. My only critique. He should have had grey patches in his hair, at least. The series only takes place 6 years (ish) before A New Hope. His life must have been reeeeeeeeeeeally hard for those 6 years for the character to appear so much older in Episode 4. Continuity is important.
I genuinely don’t know why the prequels get the hate they do sometimes. The only problems I ever saw with them is Anakin and Padmes age gap and being too sad to watch the last one more than once because Padme dies. I think Padme should have been a little younger or Anakin should have been a little older for it to make a little more sense after they fast forward on his maturing. Besides that though, I love them
I don’t blame him for taking the part of Obi Wan-Kenobi. Very few working actors would turn down that incredible amount of money. He did the best he could with the lines he was given
Never understood the 10 second spoiler at the start. For trailers, makes sense for ads, but in a video like this where it isn’t ever an ad, it’s just lame

Wow, so he really was a *great* deal more attached to Ray Stussy as a character and playing that role, rather than Emmitt. Fascinating. Ray was definitely the better and more complex and intriguing character.
5:11 No matter how people feel about the Prequels, everyone agrees that Ewan was one of the best parts of them.
He and Ian Mcdarmid made the prequels.
THE best part! 🤗🤗
So was Hayden. I don't care what anyone says he was literally perfect as Anakin.

His Trainspotting story is hilarious😂 “I’m about to know you a whole lot better”

you should read the book by Irvine Welsh if you enjoyed the movie!
Happy ending?

Aye, mebbe? Would'nae tell'ye noe mah'n, I would'nae tell'ye noe...
Ewan has such a vast and diverse catalog that it would take 90 minutes to cover them all. Yes, please!
One of the tapes on the table says Moulin Rouge 😩
Yes! i love all the things covered in this video, but i really wanted to see him comment on Moulin Rouge (and Big Fish!)
@@Dr_Bombay Love both those movies - Big Fish is the only Tim Burton movie I get on with funnily enough
Need a part two
Definitely go watch the interview he did opposing Nicole Kidman. They go into it there quite a bit

Don’t say “project”
Love Ewan. His Long Way Round was the inspiration for me to get my motorcycle license and travel around the Baltic Sea.
His range of shows and movies is incredible hearing him talk about obi Wan makes me so happy
Ewan McGregor, Keanu Reeves, Charlie Hunnam, and Norman Reedus should do an epic motorcycle ride together and film it. That would be so fun.
Ikh

He also grew his own mustache in Miss Potter. I Love that movie!!❤❤
Ewan's always been a a treasure and his notes here on his works keep him shining!
Sad they didn't do moulin Rouge😢 that's when I first fell in love with him as an actor 😍
I have seriously been "in love" with him for last the 25 years. I don't think I'll ever get over him.

I always thought it was weird when Ewan was on Fargo how he was he nailed the voice of Ray but sounded Irish half the time as Emmet.
When are you all doing one of these interviews with Hayden Christensen?
I know this is a lost art but any chance of a Ewan commentary on the Kenobi show would be exhilarating.
