    What do you think of this one?! Quick tutorial of catching halibut in San Diego. Hope you enjoy . Happy holidays everyone :)

    • @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel
      @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel  6 років тому +1

      @Steven Templeman ooo! Fishing on the beaches: Use a lucky craft sardine or any color white would do well . Long casts into the current , so the lure is going with the current upon the retrieval.

    • @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel
      @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel  6 років тому +1

      @Steven Templeman let me know how you do . I personally like fishing jetties for halibut. Halibut like sandy bottoms , and good current . Just imagine, halibut are going to be stationary in the sand , waiting for their prey. So they will choose a location where bait fish is abundant

    I visited from AZ a few weeks back and fished Mission Bay over by Paradise Point. I used a the new VMC Tokyo Rig with a 1/4 oz bullet weight and a Z-Man razor shadz in pearl. I couldn’t miss. I didn’t do that great on a drop shot on previous visits for some reason. Not sure if it was the Tokyo Rig shortening up the drop or the more buoyant lure, but it was a night and day difference for me. Give it a shot sometime and let me know what you experience. Thanks for the great content.

      Stop by anglers choice. That bait shop have everything you'll need for halibut setup. Go with 12 lbs mono. I like to use izorline. Good luck

      Honestly they are everywhere , off the shoreline of Coronado, harbor island , shelter island . You do need a fishing license tho

    • @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel
      @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel  6 років тому

      I have caught halibut year round , every month. Location of the bay is key when targeting them on certain months. For example I had more luck catching halibut in the cooler months such as dec and January in the back bay vs spring time, in the mouth of the bay . good luck and tight lines!

      I am not too familiar with the razorbacks, however I do use Bolt throwers by Reebs lures, and they work very well! I personally have the calico hunter and white and red colored ones on a 1 oz

    Isn't there a DFW regulation on dropshot where rig should be no less than 18" from weight?

    • @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel
      @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel  6 років тому +1

      yeah theres some rules on this, however some of the rules apply to certain lakes and streams where the salmon run. They apply that rule as they are trying to eliminate people who snag fish.

      Bay Area. Thus far, we only fish for trout and catfish in our fresh water lakes. All are planted fish. Done a few stripe bass fishing on piers but not as often as lake fishing. For now, perfectly happy finesse fishing for trout with light tackle. Halibut does look real fun.
