If you're wondering, a lot of the track names are just anagrams for Aphex Twin, like Wet Tip Hen Ax is ApHex TWin, the other ones that are anagrams of Aphex Twin are The Waxen Pith and Wax The Nip, and also Next Heap With is an anagram for The Aphex Twin, meanwhile Acrid Avid Jam Shred is an anagram for Richard David James and Cow Cud Is a Twin is an anagram for Caustic Window, a pseudonym he used like twice in his entire career
Congrats on 10k! Very well deserved. 100k by the end of the next year?? Huge thanks for reacting to more Aphex Twin. The thing with the album's weird track names is that a lot of them are actually anagrams, so new words that are created by rearranging the original words' letters. For example, The Waxen Pith, Wet Tip Hen Ax and Next Heap With are all anagrams of The Aphex Twin (yes, with the The, lol). Some others are anagrams too. Also if we're to believe Richard, this album is more like a compilation of tracks he made during 1990-1994 and they weren't originally intended to be included on a separate album so that's why they sound very different in terms of production. I love the album but yeah, it's very incohesive. And Alberto Balsalm is the most popular track here by far. I think it actually was pretty popular on TikTok some time ago so I thought you might've heard it but I'm glad you haven't Now to finish off his core discography you should listen to Syro, his most recent album (it's 9 years old already, god damn), and Come to Daddy EP + Windowlicker single (do them in a single video, reacting to them separately won't make much sense). I won't be surprised if Syro becomes your 3rd or 2nd favourite from him! It has no huge hits, so to speak, but is super consistent from start to finish
My personal Favorite Album by AFX Twin, I agree with the Waxen Pith statement, love that song, fun fact Wax The Nip was originally an EP called Phlegm with Come on You Slags on it but it eventually got cancelled, a reconstructed version is on youtube
Takes me back to 96, when I listened to it constantly in rainy Newcastle Upon Tyne during my studies abroad. Thanks for taking me there. Keep up the good work!
This album is very underrated. I find it more enjoyable when viewed more as an ambient project while also appreciating the classical music influence throughout. Sounds very 1995 too which I love
“This kinda hurts idk if I wanna listen to it” is completely valid 😂 Love this album but yeah that track actually hurts. Congrats on 10k, good on you for putting in the work! More milestones to come, I’m sure. Stay well 🙌
And still no Autechre, the greatest artists of all time:( Every album has a completely different vibe from the last, so if you don't dig one, the next could be completely different. Would love to watch someone go through their discog.
It would be so awesome to see someone react to them lol, IMO reacting to the albums in chronological order would be the best to be able to put the shift in their sound into perspective (also I wonder how long an NTS reaction would be lmao)
@@wartortle5151 Absolutely agree about going chronologically. I think Incunabula is a 'safe' introduction to the band, and even though it might not sound like what many would call 'typical autechre', it's an accessible look at some of the foundations that they'd build on across their career. Even the jump from Incunabula to Amber would be interesting to see a reaction to, let alone Tri Rep and on...

As a big RDJ fan these reactions are fascinating, i've subbed. I can't remember where i read him saying it, but the album name came from when he was doing so much acid for that period in his life to the point where he didn't really feel anything or feel human anymore, and his girlfriend at the time would even get scared of how detached and emotionless he became. So to counteract that he started mimicking her feelings and reactions to situations so as to not worry her. In saying that though, one thing you'll soon realise if you haven't already is to not look too deeply into his track/album names because he clearly doesn't put much thought into them. This album is an exception maybe but they're often just referring to a sample or the gear he used, as if they're references for him to remember, especially in the last decade or so at least
CONGRATS ON 10K MY GUY! Been watching you for a good while now and i really love your content. You really really really need to check out "Delaware" by Drop Nineteens. It changed my life. Keep up the great work dude!
I watch a few 'reactors' but in a short time you have become my favourite. You give your honest opinion, which itself is refreshing and not just flattering the taste of whichever patreon 'paid the most' to have their own opinion echoed back. Just genuine thoughtful reactions. Good work my man.
I really feel like you should have listened to the bonus tracks, they're really worth checking out and reviewing on the channel, when all added up they're about 40 minutes so they're basically their own album and reaction video, a user named Blobbe uploaded all of them together
Congratulations on 10k man. I really appreciate you reacting to stuff like this and other albums that I never really see anyone else diving into. I’d recommend Minutemen’s album “Double Nickels On The Dime”. It’s a really great post punk/punk album, and they’re a very unique sounding band (lots of jazz and funk influence in their sound).
Congrats on 10k dude!! 🎉 Here's to 10k more! I feel basically the same as you on this album. I think it's good, but it hasn't really clicked with me like the rest of his projects have over the years. Maybe some day. If you ever do another Aphex album I think it would be great to get your thoughts on Syro. Might be my favorite project by him next to SAW 85-92. He also did an album released under a pseudonym, Polygon Window, called Surfing on Sine Waves that I think you would really enjoy
Like other people have said too though it would be really interesting to hear your thoughts on more IDM. Maybe some Autechre like their album Tri Repetae Rossz csillag alatt született by Venetian Snares would be really cool too. If you want to hear more of the stuff you liked from this album, then you might be interested to know Aphex uploaded this album to his website with a bunch of bonus tracks, it's almost twice the length of the original LP. I'd recommend giving that a listen in your spare time, or perhaps you could do an extra video reacting to the bonus tracks? I reckon you'd really enjoy Sekonda e, +2, it has all of the best qualities of the first three tracks and I would have swapped it out for Next Heap With to make a better ending to the album. Also, I do listen to Ventolin unironically, I enjoy harsh music a lot and that song gets my blood flowing like nothing else.
I feel like if you listen to I care because you do, then the ventolin EP and the donkey rhubarb EP and all the other extra stuff like bonus tracks and cancelled EPs and then listen to Next Heap With it gives off a better feeling, it's more of a song like you survived and now it's time to think back and be proud.
